Gretchen Ross has always taken her glam seriously, and that didn't change as she approached motherhood. The Real Housewives of Orange County alum even went into her C-section surgery on July 10 with smoky eyes, a fresh manicure, and a wavy blow-out. Whenever we see her baby Skylar Gray, she's dolled up in a giant hair bow. Meanwhile, Gretchen herself got all dressed up in a Zimmerman floral gown last week for her first full day away from little Skylar.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Orange County on  Peacock and the Bravo App.

But how does Gretchen have time to put on lashes and a flawless face with all the demands of a newborn? It's a question she recently answered in a little Instagram Stories Q&A. "How can you always be in full makeup," one commenter asked. "It is unrealistic for most new moms."

Gretchen responded with a view from her new mom life, baby stuff everywhere. "I'm not always in full makeup (I wish)," she wrote back. "For instance, this is my house right now, a total mess! But when I need to work I put my makeup on, and clean up my house (as best I can) for whatever project I am doing and then I work. It's not different than anyone else getting up and going to a desk job in an office."

She then snapped a selfie of herself without eye makeup (albeit with a filter on). "I'm a serious hot mess right now," she wrote. "I'm literally so exhausted today."

Gretchen's been honest and open about the ups and downs of her first month with a newborn, including her "real and raw" struggle to breastfeed, which she is still working through right now.

She wrote on Instagram: "Breastfeeding has been no where near this magical as I imagined in my head. I have cried so many times from being frustrated, from being beyond exhausted, from the pain and horrible sore nipples (as they literally scabbed over and or were bright pink from all the skin being rubbed off), from the guilt of feeling like 'I don’t want to do this anymore because it is uncomfortable, exhausting, painful, takes way to much time, and quite honestly was not anything like I imagined in my head.'"
