Emily Simpson Reveals the Medical Reason for Her Fingerless Gloves on RHOC
The Real Housewives of Orange County mom joked that her arthritis gloves are a "really sexy" accessory.
On a recent episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Emily Simpson was spotted sporting a low-key accessory that was unfamiliar to a few fans. As the ladies of the OC dealt with filming during the Covid-19 pandemic, we got to see a different side to their style — including a set of fingerless gloves that Emily wore for a "really sexy" reason.
As Emily cozied up in her lavish bed in a pair of printed, silk pajamas with her wine glass in tow, one eagle-eyed viewer noticed that she was wearing a pair of gray, stretch, fingerless gloves. Emily addressed the purpose of her unexpected accessory when she answered fan questions on her Instagram Stories.
"What were you wearing on your hands?" the follower asked, prompting Emily's cheeky reply. "Arthritis gloves. They're really sexy," she quipped. Emily has shared her struggles with arthritis throughout the years, including its effects on her body image and ability to stay healthy.
"My arthritis was bothering me so much and I was in so much pain," Emily explained in an Instagram post last April. "I became depressed and stopped moving at all. However, the extra weight has exasperated my arthritis making it worst," she continued. Her battle with arthritis was, she believes, also exacerbated by her previous cosmetic procedures.
Thankfully, Emily recently underwent a series of treatments, including an explant surgery to help with her overall health.
