Gina Speaks Candidly About Her Weight Fluctuation: "I Don't Really Care"
The RHOC cast member said she's accepted that her weight will always go up and down: "I'm a real person."
Gina Kirschenheiter admits she has a strong affinity for fast food and packaged snacks — and she’s making zero apologies about it.
The Real Housewives of Orange County mom addressed the topic during a recent interview with The Messenger , where she also spoke candidly about her lifestyle and weight fluctuations. Gina revealed she had gained some pounds since RHOC Season 17 stopped filming. However, Gina insisted she wasn't too concerned about the change. In fact, she was completely indifferent about it.
Gina on the Factors That Affect Her Weight
“I’m a real person, so my weight just kind of goes up and down always,” she said. “And I don’t really care, honestly.”
The real estate agent told the outlet she tends to lose weight when the cameras go up, as her daily schedule becomes much busier.
“I’m trying to balance going to these fabulous lunches with taking my kids to all their sports and stuff,” she said. “This is my real life, and that is a part of my real life.”
But as soon as Season 17 production wrapped, Gina found some time to relax and indulge in some of her favorite foods.
“When we filmed, I’m so busy that I just don’t have as much time or access to food, so I naturally lose a lot of weight,” she explained. “But honestly, since we stopped filming, I’ve gained about 15 pounds. I sit on the couch and I eat Gushers — seriously! And Dairy Queen. I love it. I love just chilling and eating snacks and watching TV. It’s my favorite thing.”
Gina's Decision to Go "California Sober"
Gina has been quite open about her health journey and her decision to give up alcohol in late 2021. The East Coast native previously told People magazine she didn’t identify as an alcoholic but acknowledged that alcohol was negatively affecting her life.
“… I felt the scales starting to tip, and I didn’t like that feeling,” she said about her drinking habits. “I was numbing myself with it. I was self-medicating, and I couldn’t stop. It was more in control of me than I was of it.”
Gina shed more light on her sobriety journey in the June 14 episode of RHOC, when she ordered a mocktail during her lunch with castmates Emily Simpson and Jennifer Pedranti.
“I stopped drinking, which helped me, like, lose a lot of weight and look great, but also, like, mentally, I think it’s really much better for me,” Gina said in an interview. “So I am California sober. We don’t drink, but we still dabble in the marijuana.”
