Shannon Kept Her Favorite Birthday Tradition Going, Even in Self-Isolation
For her 56th birthday, the RHOC mom had a delicious celebration with boyfriend John Janssen and their families.
Shannon Storms Beador is keeping her favorite birthday tradition going, but it looks slightly different this year as she hunkers down at home with her family amid coronavirus (COVID-19).
In a March 24, Instagram Story, The Real Housewives of Orange County cast member shared a video picking up take-out dinner from her "favorite restaurant," Mastro's. "This is where the girls and I come to dinner for my birthday every year," she explained in the clip as several restaurant employees, all of whom wore blue gloves, brought out her to-go bags. "Now we're getting curbside delivery."
At home, Shannon showed the ingredients of the special dinner. "We're getting steaks and rubs, and we're cooking it ourselves so we're touching our own food," she said. "Then we heat up the sides."
Shannon's boyfriend, John Janssen, took on cooking duties for the special occasion, as seen in a photo of her love smiling with a plate of seasoned meat. She captioned the sweet snap: "John about to grill our [Mastro's] steaks."
In addition to getting her celebratory meal, Shannon noted the added benefit of doing the take-out order: "This is incredible that we can get Mastro's at home, and we're keeping people employed."
Later, the family gathered to eat the meal in their chic dining room, complete with a sleek gray table with matching chairs, a white fireplace with a gold-rimmed accent mirror hanging above, and just a small pop of color added from the purple napkins on the table.
According to the at-home menu she shared, each kit the restaurant is providing comes with "28 day, wet-aged cyro-vac sealed steaks with Mastro's secret house steak rub, caesar salad, a ready-to-bake side dish and Mastro's signature butter cake." The steakhouse, which has multiple locations around the country, is offering a variety of options that range in price and size.
After apparently receiving some flak for the family gathering of eight amid the global health crisis, Shannon and John, who are both parents of three, took to Instagram to clear the air. "Every one of our children has been quarantined, as a family," she noted, as John added: "Total isolation. Just us."
