Gretchen Rossi Asks for Prayers for Her Rescue Dog, Who Has Gone into Heart Failure (UPDATED)
The chihuahua was rushed to the hospital after he experienced trouble breathing.
UPDATE (March 30, 2018 1:15pm) Gretchen Rossi shared on Instagram that Remi was released from the hospital and is on the mend. We're so happy for her!
She wrote "Cannot say thank you enough for all your prayers, messages, and DM’s checking in on him! He is one lucky dog to be so loved. Thank you to Newport Harbor Animal Hospital for saving his life and to Dr. Nicole and staff for helping us with our situation. I would recommend this facility to everyone I know! So many of you gave me advice and shared stories of similar situations which really helped us have hope during this scary time, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We have to do regular check ups now because he already has an enlarged heart for his little body and a heart murmur. But today we have our little fur baby back in our home and arms and my heart feels full again Thank you Lord for giving us more time with our sweet Remi"
The original story continues below.
It's been a scary couple of days for Gretchen Rossi. On March 20, The Real Housewives of Orange County alum posted a sweet photo of her rescue dog, Remi, along with words of praise for the brown-and-white pup.
To caption a photo that showed the dog nestled into her plush couch, Gretchen wrote: "Brings me so much joy every morning to wake up to my sweet little fur babies. Thank you to God and the universe for bringing this precious soul, Remi, into my life when I rescued him 3yrs ago." Sadly, it looks like Gretchen may have to rescue the dog again.
In an Instagram snap that followed just a few hours later, Gretchen reported that her "fur baby's" health had taken a scary turn. Asking for her fans' prayers, the animal-lover reported that Remi had experienced trouble breathing, and had to be rushed to the hospital.
She then elaborated on the scary details: "It turned out [Remi] was going into heart failure," she wrote. "So we had to put him in an oxygen tank after they took x-rays and saw fluid in his lungs as well. They are keeping him overnight to monitor him and give him meds to hopefully get the fluid out of his lungs and help with his heart."
She concluded the post with a heartfelt ask. "Please keep our sweet baby Remi in your thoughts and prayers tonight, means so very much," she wrote.
