Viewers of The Real Housewives of Potomac just got to see Candiace Dillard Bassett and Chris Bassett's breathtaking wedding at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C., an opulent affair that dazzled in every way to the tune of over $200,000.
“As a former pageant queen and self-proclaimed girly girl, I knew I wanted a grand wedding that epitomized classic sophistication, with a touch of Southern charm as a nod to my Mississippi and Georgia roots,” she told Brides of her overall design inspiration.
The Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium is a classic, gorgeous venue that would have been stunning even without bringing anything extra into the building.
“The grandness of the venue can’t be denied,” she told the publication. “The lofty ceilings, the marble and stone accents, the gilded details, the parquet floors… it was a dream!”
But their day was taken to the next level with all of the white, gold, and natural green accents that they chose, from the round-backed gold chairs to the gold archway bursting with white flowers to the stunning chandeliers.
Light projections brightened up the space for the reception, but the decor star of the show were those humongous beaded chandeliers that were wrapped in white rose buds.
During the cocktail reception, guests mingled near the bar, which featured towering arrangements of lush white blooms. A grassy archway also led guests to the reception area.
For the reception, long tables were set with candles, crystal stemware, and gold mirrored runners, with alternating tables featuring high and low floral arrangements.
