5 Reasons We're Obsessed with Karen Huger's New Blonde Hair

Just in time for a new season of The Real Housewives of Potomac, Karen Huger has a brand new look. The stylish entrepreneur has never shied away from changing up her color and cut, but her latest look is lighter and brighter than we've ever seen it before. And that makes perfect sense, since Karen has just emerged triumphant after a challenging time that included her husband Ray's tax issues and illness in her family. 

Chatting with The Daily Dish Podcast about the style, Karen said: "Why not? I had not just Ray, but my mother was sick and my father is sick. I did a lot of personal reflection and it’s not about the color of the hair. I change my hair whenever I feel like changing my hair."

Rather, Karen said, her new look "is a reflection of the new level of me. I’ve grown from this experience. I’m lighter for it, I see things differently and my hair is just a reflection of that. I like it. Am I going to stay platinum? Probably for some time, probably for a while. It’s cool. But I’ll change up again I do well in colors. What can I say? Karen is all about the old-school glamour, and even carries a full set of faux lashes — with glue! — in her bag. So the fact that her new 'do channels classic screen sirens like Marilyn Monroe is perfectly fitting. 

As Karen herself said, the lighter hue broadcasts a levity of spirit. As the self-named "Grand Dame of Potomac" told The Daily Dish after news broke of her husband's financial issues: "We all got closer. And the Huger clan, we're here to stay. We've been tested, but we stood. And we're still standing. And I like it. I think we're better for it, to be honest." Her new hair color gleams just like her triumphant outlook on life. 

Speaking of positivity and a light-hearted vibe, we love the fact that Karen's new 'do hangs just above her shoulders. Though it's not always easy to maintain a platinum hue — just ask Kim Kardashian West — Karen's style will at least dry fast and require minimal styling. And, that's a good thing: Between her entrepreneurial endeavors, charitable projects, and family life, the Potomac stunner has a lot on her plate. Plus, now she has more time for lashes! 

Though Karen sets her own style rules, she just happens to be right on trend with what's happening in the world of Hollywood hair. Leighton Meester is just one of many stars who have gone platinum in recent months. 

Really, Karen said it all when she said that the hairstyle represents "a new level of me." Sure, her refreshed outlook on life has to do with more than a cut and color.
