Monique Samuels: I was super excited to finally get some much needed girl time! Pregnancy and caring for two kids, a whole entire husband, and a growing business kept me pretty exhausted, especially in the beginning. I hadn’t seen the ladies in a while so I was looking forward to catching up and getting away for a bit.

Bravotv.com: It had been awhile since you’ve seen Katie. What were your initial impressions when you saw her again?

MS: Katie was a breath of fresh air! She’s very real, speaks her mind, fun, and likes to keep the drama away. I was expecting her to be stuck up for some reason, but she was the complete opposite. She was very much a free spirit and super earthy!

Bravotv.com: What did you think of the confrontation between Gizelle and Karen after your cooking class?

MS: I couldn’t understand why after having such a great introduction to New Orleans that the night had to end in another pointless argument about friendship. It’s clear that Karen is cautioning herself when dealing with Gizelle because of past history, so you would think the person responsible for the demise of the relationship would be more willing to be open and patient.
