One Customer's Note Inspired an Incredible Movement at Brooke Williamson's Restaurant
"The viral outpouring of love and support" was "unlike anything I’ve ever seen or experienced," the Bravo's Top Chef alum wrote.
A customer's act of kindness has inspired a touching movement at Brooke Williamson's restaurant, Playa Provisions.
When placing an order at the Bravo's Top Chef alum's eatery on January 6, a customer added notes alongside each food item that included "Thank you for taking care of playa!" and "we love you!" Sharing the note to Instagram, Brooke explained, "When you order through our website [Playa Provisions] for pickup, the order gets sent to the kitchen exactly how you write it in your browser. To whomever just sent this, you have no idea how many people you just made smile. Thank YOU and we love you too!!!"
Four days later, Brooke returned to Instagram to share an order for a breakfast sandwich with an accompanying note, "Here's the deal. We live in Texas, but back when traveling was a thing...we loved you guys. So we want to buy someone breakfast today. If someone in staff is hungry let them eat or just pick someone."
With that, dozens of donation orders from around the country, and even the world, began to come in. Top Chef alum Kelsey Barnard Clark was among the generous customers, writing in a note alongside her order of champagne: "Brooke, strict instructions to open for yourself — or share with your staff — when ya'll make it to the end of this pandemic. Wish I could fly out and pop it for you! You're a badass — cheers!"
As the donation orders and kind notes continue to roll in, Playa Provisions has donated the extra food and drink orders to the local first responders in Playa del Rey. "Grateful doesn’t begin to describe the emotions that were felt throughout our staff and community [at Playa Provisions] today. To everyone who participated in the random acts of kindness that allowed for us to [pay it forward] and feed our local [heroes] (including our staff ), we are blown away," Brooke captioned an Instagram post. "The viral outpouring of love and support from all over the country in the form of orders through our website with heartfelt notes added were unlike anything I’ve ever seen or experienced."
"What an amazing world this could be if we all showed up and did one kind thing for someone else very day. After such a horrific week, it’s beyond uplifting to see such kindness and humanity," she added. "Please carry this on to the next struggling small business, spread the love, and know that you have made a profound impact in the lives of many."
