Episode Nine: Finale Part 1

ONDINE I chose to do a study in the upstairs third bedroom. I chose a black and white floral wallpaper and a white sofa with black trim. The desk is also black with a white and black Holly Hunt style chair. There is a bright modern piece of art above the desk creating a modern, eclectic, elegant study that is both functional and fabulous, setting the tone for the rest of the house.

NATHAN I selected the master bedroom and master bath. I imagined this townhouse belonging to that of a young couple and maybe this was a second home or weekend home. The mixture of good art, modern important looking furniture with "antiques" was the look I was trying to create. The room color was intended to be soft and calming. I laid an antique rug under the bed to add some depth. The bathroom was wallpapered in dark grass cloth to add texture. I placed an over-scaled convex mirror above the bathtub to enhance the spacial quality of the room and deter from a blank wall. Chic accessories and an orchid were placed between the sinks. PRESTON I created a lounging room off the kitchen area. The colors I used were black, blue, cream, white, brown and gray and the fabrics were linen, silk, cowhide and leather. A patchwork hide rug was combined with a walnut coffee table creating a modern but sleek look. The high back gray silk chair was a beautiful contrast with the linen sofa and black leather side chair. Soft lighting was created using a hand blown glass lamp, and a bone disk lamp that added a sharp look to the room. I felt like I could grab a martini or some wine and relax as the chef of the house got to work!
