Jax Taylor Thanks Fat-Shamers for Pushing Him to Work Out: "I Was Like a Butterball"
The Vanderpump Rules groom-to-be explained his newfound commitment to fitness alongside a sexy, shirtless photo shoot with Men's Health.
Vanderpump Rules groom-to-be Jax Taylor has been so into to wedding prep fitness: he and Brittany Cartwright have both been hitting the gym together before the big day, and their weight loss transformations are seriously impressive. Jax has spoken before about the motivation behind his now 42-pound weight loss, but now he just explained to Men's Health magazine how fat-shaming Internet trolls played a big role in his newfound commitment to health and fitness.
Say what? It all started in February 2017, he told the magazine, after that Vanderpump Rules episode when the guys traveled to New Orleans and dressed up in drag. The twitter reactions were harsh: “Man, you got fat,” one viewer tweeted. Remarks like that stuck with Jax.

“I'm glad they did it,” Jax told Men’s Health. “I thought, ‘Why didn't my friends tell me? Why didn't my own girlfriend tell me this?’ I looked disgusting. I was like a butterball. I was not lean. I didn't have the chiseled look that I used to have. I was, like, this has got to stop.”
He had gained 60 pounds in four years, but those mean social media comments inspired him to change his lifestyle (along with tons of encouragement from Brittany). Jax broke down his new eating and fitness regimen to Men’s Health, detailing how smoking weed and LIT Method classes play a major role in getting ripped.
