Katie Maloney & Ariana Madix’s Sandwich Shop Has a Surprising Hollywood Connection
The Vanderpump Rules business partners are working with a lauded production designer on their forthcoming sandwich shop, Something About Her.
Once it’s complete, the Something About Her sandwich shop may look quite familiar to rom-com fans.
On the latest episode of Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino, Katie Maloney revealed new details about her exciting business venture with her Vanderpump Rules castmate Ariana Madix. Katie touched on the overall vision for the space and how it was inspired by a romantic-comedy icon.
“This whole Something About Her [concept], and the vision behind that, was wanting it to be romanticized lunch, à la rom-coms,” she explained. “I want to live in a Nancy Meyers movie. So when we were talking about what this place looks like and feels like, I’m like, ‘Well, who does Nancy Meyers’ movies?’”
Katie said she did some research and eventually got in touch with Jon Hutman, the production designer for classic Meyers films like Something’s Gotta Give, It’s Complicated, and The Holiday. Though Katie kept the collaboration details to a minimum, she confirmed the Emmy winner has been assisting with Something About Her’s interior design. And that she couldn’t be more pleased with the progress.
“He’s lovely and amazing and talented and just completely gets and sees the vision,” she continued. “It’s gonna be stunning… It’s really gonna be so beautiful and I cannot wait. Cozy — it’s almost like airy, earthy, romantic.”
Katie and Ariana have been working on Something About Her since 2021 and are expected to open the shop in June or July. The former SURver told Pellegrino that she and her business partner refused to rush the opening, as they wanted to take their time to “crystalize a plan” and consult with financial experts.
Katie also gave listeners an idea of what will appear on the Something About Her menu. She described the food as “gourmet deli” fare that’ll include elevated versions of classic sandwiches.
“You’re gonna have a traditional turkey, but maybe with a little bit of spice or kick to it; a spicy Italian; I love a good egg-salad sandwich,” she said, before listing off the possible sides and drink options. “We gotta have some seasonal salads we can rotate, depending on the time of year… We wanna do beer and wine. Ariana, she can make a lot of wine-based cocktails. She has the skills for that.”
