Katie Maloney Shares Her Christmas Decorating Mishap: "I Kinda Hate It"

Katie Maloney is getting her home ready for the holidays—but she just experienced a sparkly setback. The Vanderpump Rules cast member, who lives in the stylish Los Angeles abode you can see in the clip above, recently shared her progress on a glowing Christmas tree. In a November 14 Instagram share, Katie opened up about decking her halls.
"It's beginning to look a lot like you know what," she said in her festive story. "I'm not even nearly done with the tree, though. This is what I've done, and I'm tired." In the video, Katie's tree glowed with soft white lights. She had hung the branches with some silver ornaments, and other decorations including a miniature Eiffel Tower.
Katie's home is already looking festive and cozy. But, when she returned to Instagram to share more tree photos on November 19, she was a bit disappointed in a new development.
Katie Maloney has a Christmas 2023 decorating mishap
Katie's latest post showed another photo of her tree. This time, its branches were hung with tinsel. But make no mistake, this was not the tinsel Kaie had in mind when she first ordered it. In her caption, the sandwich shop co-owner wrote: "Well I ordered the wrong 'tinsel' and I kinda hate it."
Perhaps the tinsel isn't quite Katie's taste, but we must say: The tree is looking gleaming, glamorous, and gorgeous. It has tons of lights, a dazzling silver star at the top, and disco balls at its base. Katie's even hung a stocking with her first initial by the fireplace.
Later, Katie returned to Instagram with a happy update. As she explained in her caption, she had "re-tinseled" her tree. Now, "she sparkles the way she was meant to," the happy tree decorator concluded.
Disco balls fit in perfectly with Katie's decor. As she explains in her house tour from the clip above, Katie's pad has an overall disco theme. It's decorated with “disco balls everywhere,” bold patterns, and fun artwork.
In the clip, Katie calls her living room— where the tree is now— the “best room” of her apartment. “I had a vision for this room before I even moved here,” she says. “I got my couch before I moved out of the house… I knew I wanted to do a media wall, so I had the bookshelves for years, bought doors, put them on there, painted everything one color.”
Katie moved into her current abode in June 2022, after moving out of the house she shared with Tom Schwartz. “I love living alone because I get to decorate my own apartment however I want,” Katie told BravoTV.com in a February video. “It’s like art deco, feminine chic, and I love it. I get a lot of compliments on it.”
