After enduring a "rocky road" to self-love and experiencing body shaming firsthand, Katie Maloney-Schwartz became a body-positive role model for many. The Vanderpump Rules star has made her intolerance for body-shaming very clear over the past couple of years. Not only does Katie have no problem putting internet trolls in their place, but she continues to be very open about her own body love journey.
On April 19, Katie took to the Instagram Stories to answer fan questions, and she shared an update on her own health and wellness journey. When a fan asked the PumpRules star, "Have you lost weight?" Katie revealed, "I have — and thank you. I've lost a little over 20 pounds." She added, "It feels good." Another fan, who wrote that they're "struggling" with losing weight, also asked Katie if she could share any tips, to which she happily obliged.
Katie explained that she was struggling to lose weight as well and "was trying to diet" by cutting things out like alcohol and sugar. She then revealed that she decided to take a trip to the doctor's office. "I thought it was a thyroid thing, so I was going to the doctor and getting blood work done. I think it's really important to also check up on your health because even though it wasn't a thyroid thing, I did discover that my glucose levels were pretty high and that could've let to some maybe pre-diabetic problems."
This discovery led Katie to switch-up her eating habits. "So from there, I met a really great nutritionist, who helped me understand how to eat for my metabolism, especially with being insulin resistant or insulin-sensitive. So now I just have a great understanding on nutrition and what kinds of food I should and shouldn't be eating. And I'm not dieting, but I just have a wealth of knowledge on what kind of foods to be eating."
