Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney Share an Update on Something About Her: "Lots of Hoops"

One of the most anticipated sandwich shops in West Hollywood is still not open. For months, Ariana Madix, and Katie Maloney have been talking about their sandwich shop, Something About Her. Due to some delays, the pair started sharing funny updates about the process on social media, including a post they shared back in August.

We have finally got an update from the duo about Something About Her. Keep reading to find out more.

During the SUR’ving Up the Latest with Vanderpump Rules:Panel at BravoCon 2023, Ariana and Katie gave an update on their  café. Panel host Karamo inquired about updates about Something About Her and here's what we learned during the Nov. 3 sit-down. “No one wants to hear soon, and that’s not the answer, but soon,” Katie said. “The thing is, there’s inspections and lots of hoops we have to jump through,” Katie revealed. Ariana added, “we had to get a new water heater for the building.”

Katie said the updates are not exciting, so that is why they slowed down on sharing on social media. But she said that as Lisa Vanderpump and anyone with a business in West Hollywood, things can be very difficult.

“That’s the update, some final things that have popped up in the eleventh hour,” said Katie as her final answer.

Katie Maloney gives a new update on the opening of Something About Her

Katie shared more about what is delaying the opening on the January 4 episode of The Viall Files podcast. "Everything has been going through the process of, like, permits and the city, sort of their process of things," she said. "It takes a really long time. It's not easy. Anyone that has opened a restaurant or any kind of food business, they fully get it. They know that it is daunting and relentless and it takes a really long time."

"I think for everybody else, they just don't understand. They're like, 'It's just sandwiches.' I'm like, 'It doesn't matter,'" Katie continued. "It doesn't matter if it was, like, granola bars. It doesn't matter what it is. You have to go through this process."

Noting she and Ariana didn't have their first inspection until August, Katie went on to share that they were "going back and forth" with the city for "literally months" about the eatery's patio. 

"We had to remove that," she explained. "Then we could finally go through our inspections."

In conclusion, Katie declared, "It just takes time. But, you know, it's going to happen, and it will happen, and it'll be great... Once we get that final permit, it's go time." 

The Menu at Something About Her 

While Something About Her still does not have an opening date, it sounds like they are making progress on the food that will be served. “Our menu is great, and we’re really excited about that,” hinted Katie during BravoCon.

Previously, Katie and Ariana have gone into deeper detail about some of the menu items they expect to serve. Back  in May 2022, Ariana shared with BravoTV.com at NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation that she wanted to create “a sandwich that involves lots of hot peppers and anything salty, pickled.” 

Later on a podcast, Katie said Something About Her would include a traditional and some spicy offerings. "You’re gonna have a traditional turkey, but maybe with a little bit of spice or kick to it; a spicy Italian; I love a good egg-salad sandwich,” she said. “We gotta have some seasonal salads we can rotate, depending on the time of year… We wanna do beer and wine. Ariana, she can make a lot of wine-based cocktails. She has the skills for that.”

So, Something About Her does not have an official opening date, but it does sound like the menu has something for everyone.
