You know what I remember? I remember how loyal Teresa was the Manzo/Larita families in seasons one and two. Her loyalty was the main reason for the infamous table-flipping incident. She was so upset when Danielle appeared to threaten her friends. I remember the phoniness of the Manzo family, lead by an insecure Lauren, on their deck as they were reading Teresa’s new cookbook. Instead of recognizing T’s attempt at humor, they chose to show their jealousy by nit-picking the “Olive Garden” comment.
Caroline let her popularity go straight to her head. She lost her real-ness and turned into an evil, vindictive, backstabbing ex-friend to Teresa. I learned from watching during the first season that Teresa wasn’t necessarily the brightest bulb in the box, but she is definitely a “domestic Goddess.” We learned in season one that she did all of her own housework, all her cooking, taking care of her children and supported her husband has her world dissolved around her. So the Manzo’s anger over a joke seemed very contrived, to me. This is also the reason Caroline was so willing to embrace Joe and what’s her name.
None of them expected the least of them, intellectually, be the most successful.
