Kevin Gillespie may have come in third the other night during the Top Chef finale, but, well, he's not doing too shabby.
The Bocus d'Or semi-finalists were announced this week and Kevin is on the list! The chefs were chosen by the U.S. foundation's board of directors: Daniel Boulud, Thomas Keller, and Jerome Bocuse.
The U.S. semifinals are set for Feb. 6, 2010, at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. 24 teams (each consisting of a chef and his assistant) from around the world will meet at the Bocuse d'Or International Culinary Competition that takes place in Lyon, France, on Jan. 25 and 26, 2011.
All I can say is, GO KEVIN!!! We're all rooting for you!
To see how he beat the other Top Chefs in our version of the Bocuse d'Or, go HERE.
Why didn't Kevin compete in Bocuse d'Or Semi-Finals??
Congrats to the winners James Kent and Tom Allan. Bring home the gold!
Will Bravo film the competition? Following one of it's own to the next level?? I would love to see Keven compete
thanks for showing interest in our music! you rock!!!!!!
Kevin - We loved the brothers but we were pulling for you from the beginning. Don't ever doubt your skills and keep your cookin integrity intact! We look forward to seeing your name often in the months ahead and years to come!!!!
Kevin will always be Top Chef in my heart! Now go and show the Bocuse d'Or folks what flavor is all about!
This is great news for Kevin ...
I thoroughly enjoyed watching him this past season on Top Chef, and wish him the best professionally. I was a Michael Voltaggio fan from the get-go, but loved the "Southern" spin he put on his food.
Congrats, O Bearded Wonder.
I am sooo going to the semi-finals in Feb. Way to go, Kevin...you were my pick before the season even started and jumping in the pool the 1st day clinched it - so glad the nice guy turned out to be a great chef, too!
Congratulations on your past, present and future successes from a couple of Illinois bacon lovers, Kevin!!!
Kevin deserved to win Fan Favorite, if his popularity in NJ is any indication.
Congratulations on both distinctions, Kevin!
From one red-headed southern boy to another ; way to go,
Kevin ! If you're ever down Memphis' way , we'll go to
to The Rendezvous for Ribs and Beer . Do the pig and do
him proud Kevin !
Kevin, congrats and best of luck....thanks to Bravo for educating we non-chefs on Bocus D'Or.....I also would love to watch this competition on tv if Bravo can make it happen!
Hi Kevin,
No disrespect to anyone else, but we really were hoping and thought that you would win. But, hey, congradulations on the honor to represent the US- Good luck to you, I'm sure you will do well.
I know everyone here wanted Kevin to win but lets face it the Voltaggio brothers are great chefs and they did some outstanding dishes.
Yay Kevin!!! I wanted you to win Top Chef so badly. But I'm thrilled to hear that you're advancing in the Bocuse d'Or competition!
Bring it home Redbeard!
I echo everything here. I'm planning a trip to Atlanta just to eat at Kevin's restaurant! Can't wait. Kevin, I hope you get to represent the US at the Bocus D'Or - your food seems amazing and very much American!!! Wish you and your family the best. You seem like a very kind, professional and passionate chef! Best of luck with everything!
Congratulations Kevin! And if anyone is in the Atlanta area be sure to check out Kevin's restaurant The Woodfire Grill on 1782 Cheshire Bridge Road. Fantastic atmosphere, amazing food, and top notch waitstaff.
I had a fantastic time there and will be going back every time I'm in Atlanta. Make sure you call ahead for reservations though as they are extremely popular and may not have a seat if you don't.
Congratulations again Kevin!

Congratulations again Kevin!
Kevin,
Congrats on this honor. I enjoyed your warm smile and gentlemanly ways. I appreciated your soulful food and generous heart. You exuded confidence and professionalism throughout the season. You were a burly teddy bear and just adorable. Good luck Bocuse-Boy...
Still cant believe you didnt win! Its really unfair.
I mean your body of work througout the series has been the strongest. How can they pass you just for one night's quality. This is a reality tv competition
you go Kev!
Kevin-
You seem like such a kind-hearted person. So many times I wished that I could taste the food you made during the season. Much luck and continued success to you!
I too thought Kevin should have won as Top Chef. He's in a class of his own. Would love to see the Bocus D'Or semi-finals on Bravo. Make it happen!!! Would also love to get a chance to visit Kevin's restaurant in Atlanta.
Kevin I was intrigued by your professionalism, dedication to food, and ease at creating wonderful dishes. You are humble and very talented. I too thought you would take the title of top chef, but everything happens for a reason. I am a big fan and will continue to watch your success. Good Luck at the Bocuse d'or.
Bravo, Kevin! Like others, I had you picked from day 1 as the hands on favorite. There is something really amazing about your love of food, your unbridled enthusiasm and passion...it is infectious.
We are keeping our fingers crossed that you'll make it through the semi-finals to the finals.
And note to BRAVO: Please, examine all of our desires to see the Bocuse d'or now that you have brought it to our attention! we would LOVE To SEE IT!!!! Broadcast! Broadcast! Broadcast!
Goooooooo Kevin!
Kevin I have to agree with the other comments I wanted you to win the whole season. I was so happy to see a contestent with manners, respect and warmth. With all the shows on it seems that very few have manners and show common curtesty to the other contestants. I am sure as the others have stated that this is just the begining for you. What a great joy youmust bring to friends and family. Again, congratulations you are Top Chef in my mind.
AWESOME JOB KEVIN!!! All three finalists are very, very talented but, I really thought Kevin should have won. In my world, Kevin, you are indeed TOP CHEF!! Good luck representing the US in the Bocus D'Or! You made this past season of Top Chef a true joy to watch.....would love to visit your restaurant in Atlanta!!
Congrats Kevin!!!
I truly feel KEVIN was the best on Top Chef!!!
I really feel if he had a better team on the finale, he would have been named TOP CHEF!! However, things happen for a reason and I believe this is just the beginning of a successful career for KEVIN!!!!
Make American Proud! REPRESENT!
Kevin truly deserves to represent the U.S. in this competition. Quite frankly, he should have been named Top Chef as well. He's the only contestant to have won both a QuickFire and an Elimination challenge within the same episode/challenge. He's a class act from what I've seen him demonstrate and cannot imagine why he wasn't chosen as Top Chef. I agree with other posts, that he'll do just fine in his career. I look forward to seeing him again out there in the culinary world.
Kevin well done mate & congratulations on becoming a semi finalist in the Bocuse D'Or competition Even though we are in Sydney & have not yet seen the episode we think you are a really Top Chef & deserve to be a winner. Here in AUSTRALIA we have just seen Episode 9 - Restaurant Wars- You are really a an excellent Chef & every week we watch out to see what you are going to make. Merry Xmas Kevin & we hope you have lots of great things happening for you in 2010
Kevin, Congratulations!!! So proud of you and happy for you. Could you please tell us how we could follow your progress through the Bocuse d'Or competition. AMERICA is ALWAYS going to be behind you. You'll have our support, well wishes and prayers. Mama C
Hope we can watch the Bocus D'Or. I' ll be rooting for Kevin. I feel he's like one of our own.!!!! After watching all the episodes, you feel like you know the chefs and we all feel for them.
RK1228: kevin was given a chance to compete, AKA an entry in the competition. He has made it thru the first round and is headed to the semi finals. If he qualifies there, then he moves on to the finals in france. Good Luck to him.. His food always looks like it would taste great
I had you picked as the winner from the first episode. I certainly think that you did awesome throughout the hole competition and easily the inner in my book. Please Email directions to your restaurant
Kevin, you Rock!! And good luck in the near future and show them how the PIG get down in the kitchen.
Kevin, you are the Top Chef in my opinion. You definitely were the best. I would love to sit down to a meal you prepared any day minus the fried chicken skin of course. Be proud of you accomplishments. If I am ever in Atlanta I will definitely look you up and eat in your restaurant. Good luck in New York next year. Make us proud of you again. Warmest regards, Oldgrayone in Destin, FL.
@RK1228: He was only guaranteed a spot to compete for the chance to represent the US--essentially, he was able to make the first cut.
That's fantastic!!!!!!!!!! GO KEVIN GO!!!!
Yeah Kevin! Bring the Bacon and make the South proud!!!!!
.cm
Congratulations to Kevin, I hope Bravo or the Food Channel will carry the Bocus D'Or that would be wonderful. He was a great competitor and truly a joy to watch
I thought Kevin was guaranteed this spot because of his win in the Top Chef challenge.
