He can cook. He can talk. Oh, did we mention he's kinda dreamy? We're talking about none other than chef and author Rocco DiSpirito, who is set to headline a new cooking competition right here on Bravo!
DiSpirito sizes up some of the country’s most promising aspiring chefs to see if they have the chops to impress at a private dinner party attended by his discriminating guests. The show offers an exciting new twist on the culinary competition genre as up-and-coming chefs are given the opportunity to throw a memorable soiree for one of the culinary world’s most influential figures. The chefs will hail from all walks of life – from restaurateurs to caterers to self-taught foodies – and the winner of each episode will be awarded with a cash prize.
Each episode will feature four different chefs who will be tasked to create their favorite dish for DiSpirito, and DiSpirito will eliminate one chef following the task. Next, DiSpirito will announce the week's dinner party theme, and the three remaining chefs will create an appetizer and also present their proposed menu for the theme, with one more being eliminated after this task. The two remaining chefs are given the opportunity to create a complete menu and decor incorporating the week's assigned theme. Who will create the best menu to impress DiSpirito’s guests, many of the most influential tastemakers today? Who has the attention to detail to create a flawless atmosphere and memorable experience for the dinner party?
Rocco's been a great Top Chef guest in the past -- we can't wait to see his judging skills in action again!
Looking for Cginken salad w/ greek yogurt recipe and can't find. recipes weren't posted. HELP!!!! The guests really liked it.
I love Rocco and Roccos dinner party. The show is great, I can't get enough of it. You should have a contest where Rocco has some viewers as guest and he is the cook. Oh! I'm getting hungry.
I was channel surfing today and I ran across this show. It was the episode with the "Italian" theme. I was really drawn in and wanted to watch more, but I have to say, I thought it was very unfair to have an "Italian" themed challenge when one chef is from Italy. I watched the next episode anyway and enjoyed it. :)
Hey Rocco, I just want to say I really like you new show. I do have a problem however, it has to do with your dismissing last week's girl who made crawfish etouffe. You kept on about how long it takes to make a roux. They're many different varying cooking times for a roux. I've read many a crawfish etoufffe recipes and they all call for blonde to peanut butter color roux, 15-20 mins. cooking time. Gumbos are different animals. A seafood gumbo (peanut B.), chicken & sausage, because the addition of stronger flavors needs a brown roux, gumbo ya-ya the darkest with tinges of a lil' burnt taste. I've worked with Emeril at Mr B's in NOLA and he calls for a peanut butter color roux. I can understand if her food really was sub-par, but if it was your lack of knowledge about Cajun/Creole cookery than shame on you.
Rocco needs to get over himself..LOL..I cannot believe how arrogant and rude he is with his guest chefs!! Guess without his mom around, he has no idea how to act
Recipes..will recipes be posted....got to make that Carmelized Banana Bread Pudding and oxtails....please post recipes...
He was always pretty charming when he was on Top Chef plus I heard him interviewed about a cook book he wrote and he was so sweet and non-pretentious I wanted to buy it even though I cook like once a year. I'll at least give this show a try (but the premise sounds an AWFUL lot like Ted Allen's Food Network show "Chopped", Bravo. Just saying)
I have been watching Rocco since he had his own show! I don't think he was given a chance. I really loved his show and I hopw his Mom will join him again on this one! GO ROCCO!!!!!!
I would glady watch ANYTHING Rocco participates in. The concept of this show is Chopped meets Top Chef to make: TOP MEAL. I hope it's tasty and well done.
I adore Rocco and need no excuse to watch ANYTHING he is does. However, the show's concept sounds like a riff from the Food Network's "Chopped". A new single meal prepared and served per episode. It's basically Top Meal. OK - we'll see how deep the talent pool is.
