Tis the season when angels get their wings — but it looks like Gigi Hadid is taking hers off. The model, formerly poised to walk among the Victoria's Secret Angels in the brand's 2017 fashion show in Shanghai, has dropped out of the event. It's going to take us a while to collect ourselves, here, and Hadid feels our pain.
The model took to Twitter today to share the disappointing news with fans, and admitted to being "so bummed" that she can't make it to China to walk alongside her "girls." But, if there's a silver lining to this massive letdown, it's that it makes Gigi Hadid just a little bit more like us. The model promised that she'll be tuning into the show when it airs on November 28, along with the rest of us hardcore Angels fans. (Can you just see Gigi on the couch, snuggled up with Zayn and cheering on her friends? It's a pretty cute image.)
It's not clear yet why Gigi won't be strutting in the fantasy spectacle this year, but she's not the only model who had to back out. Four other models, including Irina Sharipova, Kate Grigorieva, Julia Belyakova, and Dasha Khlystun, were reportedly denied Chinese visas, and are thus unable to participate in the show.
But, here's another consolation prize — and this one is major! It appears that Gigi's little sister Bella will still appear in the show. On November 15, the model took to Instagram to share her excitement for the taping of the sepctacle, which is just days away.
We can't wait to see Bella in Shanghai. And Gigi, if you want to crash our viewing party, come on over! We promise, there will be plenty of pink champagne.
