Obsessed

Trace talks about his vision for Chaz Dean's salon and Jeff's obsession with "number two."

July 20, 2011

Jeff Lewis Design headed to New York to see the space Chaz Dean has leased to open a new salon. Immediately after seeing the space I was inspired with the design direction the salon and retail space would have and could take on. It is a different direction than the bungalows we’ve been working on in Los Angeles, but it would work very well with Chaz’s clean aesthetic and the raw loftiness of the NYC space. We are eager to work on the project but know that it all hinges on the completion of the salon in Los Angeles. That's really what will determine whether or not Chaz will hire us for the job (even if he gets the “huge Chaz Dean discount”). We would never want to disappoint a client, but having another job to continue working on with Chaz is a big incentive to make sure he is impressed and we meet the deadline.

At Cole we’re getting down to the wire. Cabinets are going in, tile is being installed, and we’re working on all of the last minute details -- but it’s those details that will really make the reveal for the opening party. We are all just hoping there aren’t any hang-ups or delays, and those odds have never been good.

As excited as I am about the Cole reveal, I might be even more excited about the reveal of Zoila’s birthday present. I know she’s been a bit nervous about the surgery, but at the same time she’s really excited. We just try not to bring it up around her and she seems more at ease that way. What I am not or will never be excited about is discussing going “number two” in the office; and for whatever reason, Jeff is completely obsessed with the topic. Speaking of obsessed, I hope you all are enjoying the season and hope you tune in next week to see what other kind of awkward situations I get thrown into at JLD!

Trace, you are extremely talented! LOVE your style.

I like you Trace but you have a tendency to throw Sarah under the bus....for God's sake, be a team. She brings a feminine touch to the show (so does Jenny) that is refreshing....She earns her keep for just putting up with all of the BS "Toilet jokes?" come on.......Some people would sue over the conversations that take place. Stick up for Sarah, she would for you.

Love the crystal light fixtures at Cole where can I get them???

Trace, You are such a bright, well mannered, professional young man. Jeff is so lucky to have you in his employ. I hope you are enjoying your experience there. It appears as though you are really growing and learning. Jeff is an excellent artist to have as your mentor.

i love this show!! i love seeing and hearing zolia she is sooo funny! also i think my granddaughter could do a better job then sarah. want to try her out.? she's driven and she likes/has to do anything/everything perfect! she's 18 going on 25-chelsea taylor. come on jeff let's give sarah up and put chelsea to work for you. about zolia . i love hearin her talk, i am a american (chicana) houston,tx, my accent is not like cause i am a 5th generation american but i thk i do have a lil accent after all i am around my people all the time. but she's great. good luck on ur show. jeff really takes good care of zolia . that's a good thing. i never ever blog but i love this show!!! carmen

You are Jeff's best employee. I love watching you and your expressions at the antics in the office. I don't blame Chaz for having reservations about Jeff Lewis Design for the NYC job as he took years on the local job. When would a job across the country ever get finished? Friends is one thing, business is another.

You are awesome! You say a lot with your expressions :)

you're the best trace!
