Why Sam Didn't Move to Sotheby's

Samantha DeBianchi explains her decision to remain independent.

By Samantha DeBianchi

It seems that nothing ever comes easy for me in my real estate career, and my Murano Grande listing with Khalifa kept up with the ongoing trend of the season!

The good: Khalifa was reasonable, pricing it to sell. The bad: There was a tenant in the unit with a renewable lease allowing them to stay for a year and a half, which cut out the opportunity for end users to buy the building. The ugly: The tenants would move out…but for a hefty price.  Fortunately all worked out and I was able to negotiate both the sale of Murano Grande as well as the buyout terms with the tenant.

The sale at Murano Grande signified so much for me, and most especially, it showed that yes, I can break into Miami and do it on my own.

The real estate business is tough. Trying to stand out among tens of thousands of agents is tough. Having your own boutique company is tough. But with toughness comes great reward. Why did I decide to not move to Sothebys? Maybe ego and pride (definitely a bit of both), but I truly believe that although the road may be longer and harder for me, the road less travelled will bring me into a much better place in the long run. I have worked so incredibly hard to get where I am; stress-filled days and sleepless nights -- all of which I wouldn’t change because it’s made me and my company who we are today. I have so many goals and aspirations that I still need to reach, but knowing that I have been able to accomplish everything that I have all on my own has truly made all the difference. I’m different and I know that, but that’s what has made me great.

I am in such a good place in my life right now -- I have so many amazing and positive things that are happening now and are about to happen in the very near future both personally and professionally. Professionally, I have designed my real estate company in such a way where growth, uniqueness, and changing the game of real estate is inevitable. Personally, I have been able to amplify and upgrade my life in a number of ways that have been beyond my wildest dreams.

The best is yet to come, and I look forward to sharing it with you soon!
