Its just hilarious what these people find important, lol. Some people live in a bubble and its created by their enormously big head, lol. Quite amusing.

although interior design is simply been a hobby for me, what an awesome fun insightful adventure such a home as yours would be. I own a home and live in Florida and being a single mom, when I bought my home of course it was a much wiser decision to purchase a home that offered me more for less, simply due to it needing a bit of TLC.

My love of decorating was born. The secrets and tips I discovered and learned of turning drab to Beautiful has blossomed into my desires to consider venturing into house flipping. Although that is a project of which I am striving for the banks on foreclosed homes to consider allowing me to get these homes ready for high end sales with Low cost investments as well as low over head.

If I had the financial abilities I would simply begin to purchase some of these low cost forclosure deals myself  taking low money, lots of elbow grease and a woman with brains, style and the Know how, along with a schedule and it is a 100% guarantee Great return on the money.

However should I not be successful with showing the banks what a wonderful awesome successful achievement this would be. I Just may consider moving my son and I to Charleston. So that I may be able to find a home there that I could afford based on it may need a little updating or a whole lot of TLC,

I hope most homes reflect the southern charm of your home. Im sorry we did not get to see the baby nursery. I very much LIke  your home, thank you for sharing it

Is Whitney's Mom serious?  Her critique of his loft was outrageous. What a slap in the face to most of the people watching the show. Breeding and lineage mean nothing when your rude and a snob.

Southern Charm is a nice program showing great Americana history, home, and a fun cast.  They enjoy themselves, and they should.  I hope the program goes on for more seasons.

My heart races when I watch this show! What a lovely old city. The city, the homes, and the people have such character. I love hearing about the history of the cast members families. Imagine living where your family has been since the 1700's! I love the Housewives but I think Southern Charm is just fabulous.

Not that fond of the Lime green walls and brocade wallpaper with matching upholstery for the bed in Whitney's mother's house. Time for a complete updating!

Hi Ms. Patricia! My mom, Beverly says she loves the show. She is going to find Thomas's second soul mate. She shall be 35 or older. wants children. A southern belle from Mississippi. It's sad that he let the first one get away. Saw her photo, gorgeous lady!

Love your home! Lovely!

Shep......when you bring your raspberries home, fill a sink with water and a cup of vineger. Put the raspberries in and let them sit for about 15 minutes. Take them out and allow them to dry. THEN put them in the fridge. You will be amazed at how long they last. Go ahead. Try it. Buy 4 next time!!! (you will not taste the vinegar)

Dearest Patricia,  How do you stay looking so lovely?  How do you exercise and do you diet?  You look absolutely lovely without the "drawn" (i.e., "I've had too much plastic surgery done") look and as a femme d'un certain age, you look in lovely shape!  I volunteer for you to make me over.  Best wishes, Mrs. Altschul!

Whitney's home reminded me of the beautiful animation in Beauty and the Beast.

You are by far my favorite character on this show and I love your houses! Too bad we don't live in the same town, I would definitely look you up. I am an accomplished equestrian, very social and can throw a mean dinner party. We would be fast friends. You are a very attractive, slick talking, likable guy. The American people love a comeback! I forgive you for whatever you did that landed you in prison, so get on with it already. P.S. Whitney is jealous and looks hungover or strung out all the time. Kathryn is a sweet girl but not the one. Keep looking for the right woman. She is out there and I bet she has celebrated at least 35 birthdays ;-)

Some one should explain to Shep that the bench he remarks on is  a Joggling Board back in the day children played on them because they bounce they were found at many of the homes on the porches. It shows he is not a Charlestonian.

You really think the kitchen house and the main house were separated because of fires? Idiot.

Look at the history and tell yourself the truth. I'm sure you'll find it...you and your ancestors just started cooking for yourselves. Here's a hint. They called the people who were separated from the main house, slaves.

Whitney, I love your mom!  She is such a great mix of charm, class and sarcasm.  I hope we see her on the show more.  She is the star of the show!  Your home is beautiful and everything I would love in a home.  I would never leave!

@Kcjoy I just had an afterthought. Perhaps the reason no one cares about Whitney's mother's lineage is that the south lost the civil war. Had the south won, Whitney's mother's ancestors might be relevant today.

@IluvLonnie

The shows depiction of the friendship between Thomas and Whitney is one that we should all hope for.  One with integrity.  Both men seem to be intelligent, kind and handsome.  I would hope a friend would tell (warn) me of something I may be blind to, with what we see on the show, the friendship is not about jealousy.  It's ridiculous and very easy to fall back to, when trying to figure out two people you don't know.  Kathryn is beautiful.  You love whom you love, if it's mutual and both of legal age... how can a person judge.  and what make "35" a magic number for someone you don't know?  Life is interesting and should be lived that way.

@Charlestongal  these joggling boards r not very common not many of them left because it took a very large porch for them the Calcutts n Darlington still have one on their porch in Darlington SC that their children played on   my understanding is that they were not out in yards but on porches in the South

@Thewifeygolfer Yes, so glad there are several others who caught the slight of mentioning the Centuries of Slave use in making the South.  Seriously - It's not "Shep's" fault his family dates back to 1700's.  However his family took the land from Native Americans!!  And then proceeded to prosper by importation of Slaves.  So act like a spoiled rich kid.  While my family has self made wealth (my husband & I worked, built our business', became "Millionaires") our boys we make them pay for college because learning self reliance is more important than learning or feeling self importance.

@Thewifeygolfer  ..  I like Thomas and think he is clearly a good man,   the most educated and intelligent so I don't think he is an idiot other than when it comes to women.   Certainly he must be aware of the whole story as Lazyladyevelyn elucidated and  it might have served him better if he told it but he probably opted for the short version simply because of time constraints making the video.

lazyladyevelyn

@Thewifeygolfer he is not entirely incorrect.  The southern homes back then were separated from the main house because of fires, it's easier just to rebuild the kitchen.  But also the offensive smell that came from the kitchen which was unbearable during the summer and of course, kitchen slaves often lived above the kitchen and worked there all day.

@baaboo32 Thought the same thing.  Thought perhaps she was just covering a really bad tattoo?  However think I read somewhere how she was trying to develop a line of these to sell??  Odd but I like her, she seems more evolved than a few others.  :)

@MISTERWHITE @Kcjoy  Neither you nor Kcjoy know much about Southern people or Savannah. I lived for almost ten years in Augusta. Southern hospitality does exist but to a "Damn" Yankee such as myself it is gentle and kind till you turn your back.... then the tongues wage.  Civil War or no, the Southerner is a breed unto itself. You have to  among them to understand. I loved Georgia and wish I still lived there....but then again I learned their game and respected it. This show is a horrible sham.

Dumpy I agree with you! Please forgive me if I offend anyone by saying this but when I watched the 1st episode my impression of Shep was that I thought he was autistic or slow. That's what he looked like to me.  Defiantly not this highly educated guy. As I kept watching I saw he wasn't and I felt horrible for thinking that.  Am I the only one?

@dumpy @Thewifeygolfer  And whom should you thank?  for being a US citizen.  Did your family help create, or did they just arrive?  Stop hating.  You and your husband were able to make the money you did and have the life you have because of the people that were here before you.  Also, you might want to look to your parents and ask why, in the united state of america they didn't do better by you.  you know nothing about these people, the "cast" except for what the editors/directors show...  How do you know he is spoiled?  And although you've learned that the white people stole land from the natives, how do you know the relationship his family had with the natives?

The US is made of so many different walks of life, all beautiful in their own right.

We all have "lineage" that we can thank, or perhaps blame.

dumpy

@cernitoio @dumpy@Thewifeygolfer Not "hatin'" on any of these young folk.  Stating the fact - In the series it is talked about what a Play Boy Shep is.  Even his friends state "Shep drinks from Wed. to Sunday...".  It is only a REALITY SHOW guess was hoping it would be more real.  My husband and I took every opportunity to make the American Dream.  We started with nothing (truly) and now, can retire when we want, where we want and still leave a decent life for our family.  B.T.W.  my father was half Native American, mother was Syrian.  We all came from somewhere else...

Best of luck to ALL THESE young adults.  Hope they do great things of there own.
