Celebrities Are Honoring the Late Alan Thicke with the Most Touching Tributes

"He was the best man I ever knew. The best friend I ever had," wrote his son Robin Thicke.

We said goodbye to one of TV's most beloved dads when the news hit that Alan Thicke died after suffering a heart attack while playing hockey with his son Carter on Tuesday, another son, Robin Thicke, confirmed to the Los Angeles Times. He was 69.

Alan may be best remembered for his iconic role as the patriarch of the Seaver clan, Jason, on the family sitcom Growing Pains. He also memorably co-wrote the theme songs to classic TV shows like Diff'rent Strokes and The Facts of Life with Al Burton and his first wife Gloria Loring, who is the mother of Robin. 

Robin honored his late father with a touching post on Instagram following the news of his passing. "My father passed away today. He was the best man I ever knew. The best friend I ever had," he wrote. "Let's all rejoice and celebrate the joy he brought to every room he was in. We love you Alan Thicke. Thank you for your love. Love, your grateful son."

Carter also posted a sweet message for his late father. "Today I lost my best friend and my idol, and the world lost one of it's finest," he tweeted Tuesday night. "You are a legend and I love you Pops. Until next time." 

 

Alan most recently made guest appearances in the current seasons of This Is Us and Fuller House, and he received love from the series' stars.

Dog... #AlanThicke just wasn't the cool dad on tv. Dude was a part of our everyday musical lexicon. As a songwriter and jingle man this dude was THE MAN. we live in an age in which most tv shows eschew the art of the theme song. Most of our shows are quickie tags or nothing at all. Or instrumentals. Next to #JesseFrederick & #MervGriffin You were employing Alan to handle the honors. As a dude working in television believe you me: the art of connecting melody and narrative and sticking in 30 secs or less is an ART (I still maintain the #FreshPrince theme is Will's best most loved song (yes, more than #Summertime)---Alan had classics that NEVER LEFT us: #DiffrentStrokes theme #FactsOfLife theme my Uncle Bud used to laugh at me trying to whistle the #JokersWild theme (game shows were waaaaay big in the 70s yall and Alan did em all including the OG version of #WheelOfFortune back when Woolery was host) I mean 2016 is what it's going to be. I just hope I love to escape it. Respect to his family and his loved ones.

Alan Thicke had to be one of the nicest, most humble celebrities I had ever crossed paths with- I mean he was so damn cool! I remember once he gave me a pep talk after a very famous comedienne did some foul Ish to me that they witnessed at a roast and he and his wife Tanya were so kind and comforting when they saw how upset I was. They have always been just good, quality people. Anyone that has ever met Alan knows what I'm talking about. I don't think a negative word could ever be spoken about this man. I was so sad to hear of his untimely passing today at 69 years of age from a heart attack. 💔 I hate that I have to say this but Rest In Paradise Mr Thicke- and my prayers go out to his lovely wife who lost her best friend. Gone way too soon! #AlanThicke 🙌🏾🙏🏽
