Kate Chastain Explains How Being a Chief Stew Has Made Her Ready for Motherhood

Plus, the Below Deck alum jokingly revealed her baby daddy’s identity and which Bravoleb is already her “parenting coach.”

What Does Morris Chestnut Think of Terrence Howard’s Retirement Announcement?

As if Kate Chastain’s pregnancy announcement wasn’t enough of a surprise for one day, the former Below Deck chief stew had one more “reveal” up her sleeve. After host Andy Cohen awarded Kate his “Mazel of the Day” on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen’s December 13 episode, the doorbell rang and she appeared in the Clubhouse so everyone could “see the baby bump in person.”

How to Watch

Jokingly asking if they should use the opportunity to announce that he is the baby’s father, Andy explained, “This happened between us at BravoCon. It was a sloppy night after the Legends Ball.”

Kate played along, adding, “I’m so glad to be here and announce that… I highly recommend you get tickets for the next [BravoCon]. It was great.”

After the Below Deck alum shared that her due date is May 8 and that having a baby is something she’s always wanted, Andy predicted that Kate will be “a great mom.” Her response? “I think being a chief stew really trained me for it,” she said, prompting Andy to reply, “I do too.”

And yes, she already knows “the first skill” she’s going to teach her child: “Dishes!” Kate said.

Later on the WWHL After Show, Kate shared plenty more pregnancy details. Though she already knows if she is having a boy or girl, she’s “saving that” information for now. She has also picked out her baby’s name, explaining that it has significance within her family. You can hear her full answers by pressing play on the video at the top of the post.

She also gave a bit more insight into how the baby’s dad — whose identity she has yet to reveal publicly — will play a role in co-parenting. “Um, I’m doing it solo and perhaps with some help,” said Kate, who revealed at BravoCon 2022 that she was single. “But I’m happy to do it alone.”

Kate won’t be totally solo, though. After the WWHL host said he hopes she and Brandi Glanville are going to “co-parent the baby,” Kate revealed that The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, who will appear with Kate on Peacock’s upcoming new competition series, The Traitors, has already enthusiastically given her “great” parenting advice.

“And, you know, I’m really grateful I’m gonna have Brandi as a parenting coach,” she summed up. “Oh, I can’t wait.”

That’s not the only thing she can’t wait for. When announcing her pregnancy with a telling Instagram photo earlier the same day, she captioned her baby bump selfie, “I’m already planning so many birthday theme parties for you.”

It seems Kate’s immersive Below Deck training is going to come in handy again very soon.
