Carole Radziwill Reached Out to Bethenny Frankel After Dennis Shields' Passing

Carole Radziwill and Bethenny Frankel's friendship may have hit a rough patch this season of The Real Housewives of New York City, but people have a way of putting their differences aside when tragedy strikes.

Following the passing of Bethenny's on-off boyfriend Dennis Shields on August 10, Carole shared that she reached out to the RHONY mogul "the old-fashioned way" with a handwritten note during an interview with Us Weekly earlier this week. Though Carole said she didn't receive a response back from Bethenny, she showed empathy for her situation. “There’s no reason to respond back,” Carole told Us Weekly. “I remember when my husband [Anthony Radziwill] passed away [in 1999]. I really appreciated people who wrote. Email was around, but not necessarily texting. But to get a note in the mail was really nice, and there’s no pressure to respond to that.”

Carole added that she only wishes Bethenny well in the future. “I know she probably went through a really hard time. I know what that’s like," she said. "You don’t wish that on anyone.”

Bethenny has opened up to her fans about her grieving process on social media, sharing that she has sought comfort in spending time with her daughter Bryn and organizing relief for the victims of Hurricane Florence. Unfortunately, the loss of Dennis continues to take a physical and emotional toll on Bethenny. She told PEOPLE earlier this month that she's been "going through an emotional storm" while dealing with his passing, and she recently shared on Instagram that she has lost some weight due to her "#griefdiet."
