Shane Simpson Says "Not Working" Put Strain on Marriage to Emily Amid Law Career Struggles
Plus, the RHOC couple revealed what made their marriage “stronger" as they reflect on his law career journey.
Since Season 13 of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Emily Simpson has allowed viewers to see every intimate and challenging moment of her marriage with her husband, Shane Simpson.
A few of those moments include Emily’s NSFW confessions about her and Shane's sex life to the spouses navigating a tough time in their union due to conflicting issues in their careers; however, in the end, their love prevailed as they celebrated 15 years of marriage last year.
In the latest episode of Bravo's Hot Mic podcast (clip above), Emily and Shane sat down with host Alex Baskin to reflect on how the struggles in Shane’s law profession put a strain on their relationship. During the discussion, Emily also noted how RHOC contributed to her marriage being “stronger” than ever.

Emily and Shane Simpson reflect on the “difficult” part of their marriage
While chatting about the ups and downs in some marriages, Emily admitted how she and her husband struggled amid Shane's issues to pass the bar. “I think you taking the bar exam was probably the most... difficult on our relationship,” she said.
Shane agreed with his wife and further explained the pressures he faced at the time, saying, “That was a lot with filming, with young children, you know finances, [and] not working.” He concluded, “It was just a lot to deal with at the same time.”

Although Shane’s job ups and downs was initially tough on him and Emily, the two were able to get into a better place. During the podcast, the RHOC ‘Wife explained how being on the series helped her marriage in the long run.
“I feel like us being on the show has made our marriage stronger and made us work as a unit better and made us better parents,” Emily told Alex. Shane, too, concurred with Emily’s statement by sharing, “I think in a way we became more dependent on each other.”
