Shannon Beador's Initial Reaction to John Janssen's Lawsuit

After Shannon responded to the suit in a statement to the outlet noting that she was "shocked and disappointed" that her ex had filed it, she shared new details about how the two dealt with their finances during their three-year relationship on Jeff Lewis Live.

"It was about a month ago. I got a letter saying, 'You need to come up with a payment plan to pay this money back,' and so it culminated with me realizing that attorney's fees were going to surpass the amount of money [John] was seeking."

As a result, Shannon claimed, she offered to pay John the sum "he wanted."

"Because I've been down that road before," she explained. "I lost a lot of money in legal fees, so I also know the mental anguish that goes along with a lawsuit, so even though it's not warranted, I offered to pay John the exact amount that he wanted, but he turned the deal down..."

How Shannon Beador and John Janssen Handled Their Finances

She went on to talk about how the two paid for things during their relationship, which ended in 2022.

"There were two times where he gave me money and there were many times where I paid for things or gave, which you would say equates to me giving him money, so, you know, you wanna go tit for tat," Shannon explained.

"You want me to show the tens of thousands of dollars that I spent, you know, that's kind of what I'm doing right now with my time and it's not fun," Shannon continued. "It's not fun to go back and say, look at all your bills and say, 'Oh, well what did I do here this day?' You gotta look at your photos. It's like, I don't wanna go back. I want to move forward with my life. I don't want to think about John Janssen. I don't want to think about him anymore. I am in a really good place mentally and I want to keep going forward, not backward."

Shannon said that "for the second half of our relationship, John paid for stuff," but "at the beginning, I did."

"So when we traveled, the hotels, the airfare, I mean, I think John only bought me one airline ticket in our entire relationship," she continued. "I always did, and so, you know, I took him to New York four times in four months in our first six months of dating... Sometimes he'd say, "Oh, can your stylist pull some stuff for me and then I'll pay you back?" and then, yeah. He wouldn't..."

Shannon Beador Shares New Details About the Lawsuit

Shannon claimed that, when they first started dating, John assured her that they were going to be "together forever."

"At the very beginning of the relationship, he said, 'You're my future. You're my person. You're my future.' That's what he said and I thought, 'Yeah.' I felt this comfort with him right away and I thought we were going to be together forever," she continued.

Regarding the money mentioned in the suit, Shannon said that she "did need money at the time."

"He said, 'I wish you could get a low interest loan.' I go, 'Well, you have money,' and then he goes, 'Oh, yeah,'" she recalled, adding that he then "wired" money to her afterwards.

Shannon claimed that John "never asked me ever" for the money back, even after they broke up.

Shannon Storms Beador's Statement About John Janssen's Lawsuit

As previously mentioned, Shannon formally addressed John's $75,000 lawsuit in a statement to PEOPLE

"I am shocked and disappointed that John has filed a lawsuit. My attorney has been in constant communication with his counsel. I agreed to pay John what he wanted because I knew that attorneys' fees would surpass the amount sought, but more importantly to eliminate the negative emotional components that come with a lawsuit. It is important that I continue to focus on the positive aspects of my life and move forward," her statement read.

"John declined the offer because he refused to sign a mutual non-disparagement agreement," she continued. "I was hoping that if I met his baseless demand we could at least use this as an opportunity to bring complete closure to this chapter in my life."
