Joanna Krupa Talks Racy New PETA Ad

Exclusive: Fur flies, literally, as the supermodel 'Wife strikes a sexy pose.

By Mike Hess

Thinks are getting hot in Miami ... and it has nothing to do with the weater -- it's courtesy of Joanna Krupa's racy new ad for PETA. When we say it's a bit of a hair situation, we mean it (SCROLL DOWN TO SEE IT).

With her third ad for the animal rights group, the Real Housewives of Miami beauty pairs equal parts comic relief, shock value and controversy to draw attention towards the fashion trend of fur trim and the inhumane ways that clothing companies obtain said product. "As an animal lover, I never in my head realized that people could be so cruel," Krupa told The Dish about when she first watched videos nearly a decade ago of how fur was gathered. "I never knew that people are skinning animals alive ... and after they get skinned alive, their eyes are still blinking because it takes a long time to die."

And while many have sworn of fur coats, a new fashion trend of fur-lined collars, sleeves, cuffs and other accessories has become popular, prompting Joanna to spring into action for the third time. And she knew exactly how to get people's attention.

"If there's no controversy behind it, people are going to blink their eye and move on," Joanna tells The Dish. "We're like, 'What can we do that's fun but is also controversial and sends a message for those that don't realize the cruelty?' I'm against fur obviously, but I'm against any cruelty. As a human, if they eat meat I'm not the type to dictate what they can and can't do, but we have to know the difference. What I am fighting for is to stop cruelty and torture of animals."

So, the concept of some ... uh, how should we say this ... egregiously unmanicured private regions to be the metaphor for fur not looking good came to fruition, and Joanna says "it took a while to get the approval" from PETA at first. Finally, they agreed ... and here we are. SEE THE PHOTO BELOW!

"It's controversial because people don't expect me with a big b---, but it's comedic," Joanna laughs. "I wanted to show people you don't have to be so serious to make a serious point. I joke around, I make fun of myself, and I wanted to show that part of me and that part of PETA. It's a good message, but it's a goofy message ... Some people are going to think it's funny, some think it's gross. My mom and my fiance think it's gross."

When asked about her fiance Romain's reaction to the ad, Krupa says he told her "God, this is disgusting. I don't want to imagine you with this hair." Thankfully he came around, and Joanna hopes everyone who sees the ad will also smile at it -- and maybe even change a bit.

"If I can change one person's outlook on it a little bit and show people what goes on, then I feel I've conquered what I wanted to do."
