What Caused the Icy Interaction Between NeNe Leakes and The View Hosts?

#RHOA's Broadway diva did not feel welcome on the talk show — and took to Twitter to share her feelings.

By Laura Rosenfeld

NeNe Leakes may have stepped away from The Real Housewives of Atlanta, but Tuesday's visit to The View was as tense as an encounter with her fellow Georgia peaches. NeNe arrived at the talk show ready to talk about her upcoming stint as Matron Mama Morton in Chicago on Broadway, but it seems her experience was less than enjoyable. "Just sat with a bunch of mean girls turning up their noses, looking u up & down as if u don't belong! The HATE was so real & SAD," NeNe tweeted after her appearance on Tuesday, which has since been deleted.

So what inspired such a tweet from NeNe? Her feelings toward the ladies of The View seemed to be the result of a few icy moments between herself and co-host Joy Behar, who NeNe called out a couple of times for making digs relating to her time on RHOA. For instance, Joy was surprised to hear that NeNe felt ganged up on by the other RHOA ladies during Season 7 of the show. "Imagine all of you girls coming at one person at a table," NeNe said on The View. "It's not cool. It's not fair for everybody to come at you at once and try to make you something that you're not. It's not cool."

When talking about her future with RHOA, NeNe went on to say that "lots of girls would like to imitate the NeNe Leakes brand." Joy sarcastically replied, "She's modest. No wonder you're friends with Donald Trump. I get the connection. She loves Donald." NeNe then corrected Joy by saying, "I don't have anything against Donald. I like Donald. I think he's very true to who he is. I didn't say I was voting for him, honey. I said I liked him."

The View hosts tried to coax NeNe into singing a little something from Chicago, with Joy saying, "Come on, girl. Force yourself." NeNe obliged, but not before throwing a little shade Joy's way first. "I can't with Joy. Isn't she something?" NeNe said before singing the end of "When You're Good to Mama" from Chicago. It's almost surprising that NeNe didn't end the segment with "Girl, bye."

NeNe did tweet out a link to an Instagram photo of herself with Whoopi Goldberg, Paula Faris, Candace Cameron Bure, and Raven-Symone. Joy is noticeably absent from the pic.

NeNe kicks off her run in Chicago on November 22. Check out one of her shadier moments from RHOA in the clip, below.
