Season 13 of The Real Housewives of Orange County hasn't even begun yet, and already one of the newest additions to the SoCal squad is getting extremely candid about her personal life.
New O.C. Housewife Gina Kirschenheiter filed for divorce from her husband, Matthew Kirschenheiter, on April 2, citing irreconcilable differences, Us Weekly reports. She has asked for sole physical custody and joint legal custody of their three children, Nicholas, 5, Sienna, 4, and Luca, 2.
Gina opened up about her decision to split from her husband after seven years of marriage in a statement to Us Weekly. “After careful consideration and deep thought, we have decided to end our legal marriage. With that said, we will never end our friendship and will forever remain family,” she said. “We are dedicated to raising our children together in a happy, healthy loving environment. We will be navigating this difficult process with respect and grace for one another. We kindly ask for others to treat us with this same respect and grace [as] we move through this family adjustment."
RHOC fans will see Gina deal with the challenges of her husband working and living in Los Angeles during the week, leaving her to feel like a single mom of sorts, in the new season premiering Monday, July 16 at 9/8c. In fact, Gina cited her husband's absence during the family's time in New York in the past, as well as after their move to California, as one of the reasons she filed for divorce during her interview with Us Weekly. “It’s been really difficult,” Gina said. “It’s not easy. It affected our relationship. And we’re trying to navigate through it, but I’m not going to say it’s been peaches and cream all the time.”
We'll get to know more about Gina, meet fellow newbie Emily Simpson, and catch up with Vicki Gunvalson, Tamra Judge, Shannon Beador, and Kelly Dodd when Season 13 of RHOC premieres Monday, July 16 at 9/8c.
