Who Was Vail Bloom in Vanderpump Rules?

The SURver from Season 3 flirted with Jax and pursued her acting career during her one season of the show.

By Casey Suglia

When Vail Bloom made her debut on Vanderpump Rules in the middle of Season 3, she was a much welcomed addition. Known for her centered attitude, the aspiring actress was a hostess at SUR, flirted with (some of) the men on the cast, and mainly remained on the outskirts of the season's drama.

How to Watch

After a flirtation-ship with SUR bartender Jax Taylor, one awkward date with SUR manager Peter Madrigal, and a successful cast trip to Miami for Scheana Shay's bachelorette party, Vail left Vanderpump Rules and her job as a hostess and didn't return for Season 4. But, Vail continued on to have a successful career beyond SUR.

Whether you were interested in knowing what happened during Vail's season of Vanderpump Rules or curious as to where Vail is now, here is everything that you need to know about the actress.

Who was Vail Bloom on Vanderpump Rules?

Vail was a hostess at SUR who made her first appearance in Vanderpump Rules Season 3 in Episode 7, when she was initially hired as extra help with SUR's pride party.

The Princeton University-educated blonde was looking to make some money while auditioning for acting gigs and living in Los Angeles. She had a successful interview with boss, Lisa Vanderpump, and manager, Peter, in her first episode, but Lisa wasn't too sure about her longevity with the company.

"She's too good, she's never going to last," Lisa told Peter in Episode 7. "She's too cute, she's too pretty, she's too smart. Perfect."

What happened between Vail Bloom and Jax Taylor?

Upon first meeting (and flirting with) her at the SUR bar, Jax was sure that he and Vail would head down an interesting path. "I'm going to sleep with her, probably," Jax declared.

Lisa, however, warned him to stay away from Vail and begged him to stop having sex with people who work at SUR.

Despite the warnings, Vail was convinced that Jax was a nice person and a firm believer that people can change. "Everyone makes mistakes, its human," she said in Season 3, Episode 10. (She described as a "lovable idiot" in Season 3, Episode 11.)

Jax said that he liked Vail's honesty and her no-nonsense approach to life, and the two continued to heavily flirt throughout the cast trip to Miami for Scheana's bachelorette party.

But, by Season 3, Episode 12, she said that she would "never" go for Jax. "Like, there's no way, no how, because he sounds shady and messy in his life. That just sounds too complicated for anything I would ever want to get into," she told Peter. "I don't know, I think they're just like, having fun teasing me."

Vail Bloom's Acting Career

Vail Bloom is an actress.

Vail, according to her Instagram account, is an actress who "likes to be in the background... of the heroes of my life." According to IMDB, Vail has 22 acting roles to her name, having appeared in TV series like Entourage, Castle, and Hello Ladies, in addition to movies such as Surviving the Wild and Paranormal Abduction

She most notably starred in 239 episodes of the daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless as Heather Stevens. She joined the cast in 2007 and exited in 2010, according to Soaps In Depth, before returning to the role in 2023.

Her role on the soap earned her a Daytime Emmy nomination in 2008 in the Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series.

Vail Bloom opened up about her previous substance abuse issues

Vail Bloom made her Vanderpump Rules debut in Season 3.

During Season 3, Episode 7, Vail revealed to Lisa that she'd had substance abuse issues in the past, sharing that she would go three or four months without drinking if she felt like it didn't serve her. "I never had an issue with drinking," she shared. "It's more harder stuff."

"I lucked out in my acting career," she explained in a confessional. "I was on Young and the Restless for just under three years and I was starting to get into this whole, like, what seemed like a Hollywood lifestyle. I was starting to get into a little bit of trouble with drugs."

But, Vail assured Lisa that this wouldn't get in the way of her work. "Obviously, you know, I'm doing well now. I meditate twice a day," she told her. "I have my stuff together but I certainly have a history."

What is Vail Bloom doing now?

Vail is still acting. After leaving her job at SUR as well as Vanderpump Rules at the conclusion of Season 3, Vail continued to appear on screen.

Vail's most permanent role, however, was being a mom to her two children — 5-year-old daughter, Charlie, and 3-year-old son, Jack — which she has called "the best and most rewarding journey" of her life so far.

And she has continued to share her thoughts about motherhood, writing in one Instagram caption that her kids are constantly teaching her. "They are raising you, teaching you, reminding you...and they are raising 'you' by raising your vibration and elevating you spiritually, karmically...that is, if you honorably connect with them," she wrote. "It's all beautifully interwoven, at least by design."

But she doesn't regret her time on Vanderpump Rules. During a July 2023 appearance on Soap Opera Digest's Dishing with Digest podcast, she reflected on her time on the show. "It's a funny thing," she said. "I was just at a fifth birthday party with my daughter, and maybe two and a half hours into hanging out with the moms, drinking rosé in the kitchen while there's kids outside, [one mom] was like, 'And I just have to ask you. Huge Vanderpump fan..."

"Not that many [people] talk to me about it, but I realize when they do, they've been thinking about it the entire time," she explained. "It's kind of epic."
