That's All for Now

Rodger Berman explains how working together has made his bond with Rachel even stronger.

September 21, 2010

It’s so hard to believe that this was the final episode of the third season. In the end, it was amazing to see how our company has grown and how strong it’s become. The same is true for Rachel and me.  Working more closely together has made us stronger as a couple, and we have obviously been having serious talks about starting our own family –- not just having the fashion one. She gets so much joy out of styling and literally a high when she sees Chanel. I wish she could look into the future and understand what it might feel like to have a child –- because I know she would feel the same and hopefully more. We’ll see…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RODGER! I hope all your dreams come true on your special day. I hope for the success of your marriage through all the ups and downs that 'normal' life brings, much less the chaos of the 'reality' you & Rachel exist within. She needs to be more flexible & I hope that you both are open to the possibility that 'your child' is already here and waiting for you both to find him or her through the adoption process. A child can be born in your heart without you knowing it...you will be a great Dad and I have no doubt that Rachel will be transformed. Don't fall into the trap of being hung up on the value of your own genetics...it's the nurturing & love that matters most & produces the best results. Best wishes & much love!

Sadly it is very obvious that Rachel does not want children. I think if you watch some of the past episodes and look at some of the expressions on her face during your conversations about starting a family, you will realize that she is not ready and may never be ready. You are a very sweet person and I believe that if really want Rachel than you won't be having a child. Unfortunately it seems you will have to choose one or the other. Good luck to you I hope I am wrong and things go well for you.

Wow! Since when is a woman who has a successfull career a bad thing? Everyone is acting like you should FORCE Rachel to have a baby! Isn't that a bit creepy??

Frankly SHE'S the one bringing in the money...what are you going to do when she's "out of business"? How are you prepared to bring in the money? You've involved yourself into HER career, even though you know nothing about fashion. And really how is it "our company" when it's HER name and reputation??

You obviously love Rachel very much, but I think you may need to look a little deeper as I'm not sure Rachel will fulfill your desire of having a baby. You seem to be very supportive, level-headed, and I think you would make a great dad. Follow your heart and find someone who shares the same dream as you do.

Rachel is obsessed and fixated on her life's priorities of clothes, celebrity and dressing up for parties. She makes GREAT TELEVISION!
Do you fit in ANYWHERE other than straightening out RZ's finances in the business once Taylor left?

Great Season. Take it from someone who knows. Don't wait to have children any longer. I was your age and I thought I had time. Turns out my clock ran out. Don't miss this magical opportunity and if you health is at issue get someone to carry the baby. You two are good peeps and need to be completed and have a legacy.

Better luck in your next partnership, Rodger.

Rachel said, in this last episode, that nothing will ever come ahead of styling her clients (something like that). She also said she made a choice -- without even realizing that she was making a choice -- to put career first.

That's two statements in one episode that her career will always be first. Before you, her children, the rest of her family, before anything or anyone. A very clear, unequivocal statement.

When someone tells you who they are, believe them the first time. Pay attention. She is telling you who she is and what her priorities are and always will be.

Take care of yourself, Rodger.

I hope you find the family you richly deserve Rodger...you already show so much love for a child you don't yet have. It would be a shame to let it waste away in such a material world. Good luck to you, I think you would be an amazing father.

Rodger absolutely loved this year season without the T( I won't say her name) drama. You and Rachel are wonderful together. She is scared about having a baby, what about looking into adopting, maybe having a surrogate or even becoming Foster Parents.

Can't wait to next season...until then I have my daily email from Rachel!!!
XoXo

At the end of your life, you will never regret not having passed one more test, not winning one more verdict or not closing one more deal. You will regret time not spent with a husband, a friend, a child, or a parent.

As I watched tonight and I heard you (Rachel) talking about how time has flown by, I feel the exact same way except we are on polar oppsite in our lives. I have been married for 34 years, have raised my children, watching my grand daughters grow and I too wonder where the time has gone, should I have given up my work with children to have children. Everyone has doubts about choices they have made but ya know that's life. You roll the dice and do your best.
For myself there are about ten thousand things I'd have done differently and not one of them has anything to do with my children, because I can look at myself in the mirror and know the greatest thing I have done is have my children.
Love to you,
Kimalyn

Hi Rodger,

I see ur frustration about starting a family thru out the season and I feel ur pain. When my husband and I decided we were going to try to start a family I fell very exited and very scare at the same time. What if I can work for my whole maternity, I have a miscarrage? What if I can't give him a child? What would happen then? These questions might sound silly but will go thru ur mind. I hope u two the best.

Rodger, you are a very nice guy. Obviously, the minute Rachel walked out of the doctor's office, she was done with babies. The doctor told you that it would take at least 18-24 months to get pregnant, and then another 9 months after that, so you need to start now but it would take a looong time, so Rachel knew she was not having a baby tomorrow, or even next year, yet she walked out of the office. The doctor told you that you should start trying to have a baby right away, yet you, Rodger, an educated person kept saying, how? How do we do that? Uh, Rodger, you just stop using birth control, come on. And, also obviously, she would not lose the business i she had a baby, she would just learn to delegate more, which she should do more now anyway. And also, as an educated person, you must see as we all do, that Rachel does not eat and she has no intention of changing that, she'd rather just say she's frail for no apparant reason. So, at the Finale, the entire audience knew Rachel has absolutely no intention of ever having a baby, everyone, except for you.

Good luck to you both in the fashion world, your only real family, now and forever!

Have you guys ever considered getting a surrogate mother?

I am glad that you and Rachel are doing well. But reading your blog today seems the complete opposite of how this whole season played out.

After tonight's episode I think that you would be a great candidates for adoption! There are so many children in this world who need great homes! Hope everything works well for you : ) xoxo

I hope Rachel values the other parts of her life and how lucky she is to be a world-class stylist, but also in a world class marriage/family. I am sure for a woman who earns her living on making others look great, becoming pregnant must be stressful, but she is stronger than she thinks. She endures so much with her work, you know she can do anything if she sets her mind to do it. Plus, your family unit seems so strong. I hope you both get all you want in life...good luck!

Have you thought of adoption? There are so many babies already born that need the love of a family. You could be the main parent, have a nanny and get the wonderful experience of raising a child. Rachel does not need to bear a child for the two of you to become parents!
