The Real Housewives of Atlanta
Lisa Wu Hartwell

I was deeply saddened to hear the news about AJ' s sudden passing. Ed and I have grown very fond of AJ. He was very nice, down to earth and an overall great guy. He had great plans for his future and the well being of his children. His plans were interrupted. He will be missed. AJ's family and Kandi will continue to be in our prayers. This senseless violence has to stop! Last week a 16 year old honor student was beaten to death because he refused to join a gang. This hit home for me because I have a 14 year old son as well as a 12 year old. The victims of these crimes are ordinary people that are loved by their families and friends. They are fathers, brothers, sons, and friends. We must stop standing by the sidelines and get involved. It affects many more people than the person that is in the altercation. I pray for the families. I pray for change.

PEACE & BLESSINGS,
Lisa

Hello Lisa,

I like you, I think you are a good person. You stay out of the way and you don't caught up in the middle of all the drama. I can really respect that. I know you said you would flip Kim over the couch (I would have loved to see that), but you are much classier than that. How you have such unstable friends is beyond me? Please continue to stay the way you are, please don't let the fame of your clothing line or the show, change the person you are.

Hola Lisa,
I agree this violence that is happen across America must stop, but how do you stop low income families trying to strive, and these cities that have no money to invest in our children.
How can these cities do anything when there is no money to give.
Growning up in the South Bronx in the 60's, and 70's was no picinic. I remember playing in empty lots, and the gangs in each corner selling drugs, and killing each other.
Now I read about this young man being beaten and killed by gang members just bring back sad memories about my youth.
As a Hispanic young lady and growing up in the projects, I almost join the Latin Queens, but God slap me in the head and I join the Navy instead ( Best thing I ever did).
It is hard growing up in poor areas and trying to belong, and when we get that one good kid, something like this happens.
All we can do is pray for Kandi and AJ's family, and ask God to help us find a away to stop these crimes agaisn't our children.

Adios
Yvette

Hi Lisa - thanks for posting about the need for change. It is so sad when we watch our people being taken out of here for totally petty, senseless and unnecessary reasons. It's a shame what we are experiencing these days. Such little respect for one's own life so there is no respect at all for the next one's. This violence thing hit home for me as well, as I have an 11 year old step son who is now being taken out of the only school (private school at that) that he has ever known because the surrounding neighborhood is so bad that it is unsafe for him to continue to go there with the rest of the family having to work. All this senseless violence, crime and death makes it very discouraging for the future of our youth but we have to push on regardless and hope that the strong few can carry all the rest to the next level.

Hi Lisa,

I know u and Kandi was good friends and I'm glad she had u in her corner in her time of sorrow. I live in Chicago, and just last month they beat and killed a young man here at Fenger H.S. I don't know what this world is coming to but our youths need some kind of positive outlet and not negative. They must realize they will be the ones to take care of us when we get older. Hope u and Ed get the girl you two want.

Hello, Lisa

Just wanted to say the last time I viewed an airing of you an Ed, was so special to me, my husband of 32 years as had a career change, which was hard to handle because of an injury because of his line of work. We now face a lower income, and it seems I maybe the bread winner, I have always depended on him to provide for ower family of 8 and he is depressed. Could you and with Ed (allowing) bring out a journey of such. I believe love is stronger than we believe and you could show mem like Ed that together you are strong to over come anything. I mean, I am a mother of 5 son's 3 that have served our country proud, but that there are other options to persue, I mean that my sons have said that if they would listen to anyone on EN SPORTS CENTER ED, would be who they would want to see play by play, or giving a TRUE story about up coming athletes in their teen years and would be a GREAT role model in getting them there. Thanks for reading, GO ED

Hi Lisa - I just love you girl! You seem to be as beautiful on the inside as you definitely are on the outside. Your fine husband is very fortunate to have you and you have him as well. You 2 could be voted the "cutest couple". I borrowed your motto, "if it don't make me no money, I don't do it". Why waste time! Your comment is so very true. I pray constantly for some peace in our citys and neighborhoods. One day - One day...Let's keep praying. Power in Prayer. Keep up the good work. Stay beautiful, with a name like Lisa, you can't go wrong.

Lisa girl you keep it real at all times I love it. You’re a beautiful person with a bubbly personality.….. Love the way you stay natural through all the drama. You remind me so much of myself. On the business tip you are a go-getter. If your not to busy I have some questions I need some serious business tips. I want to open up a Non-Profit organization which provides seven outreach and support programs targeted to serve and assist low-income, troubled teens, students, and students with disabilities.
I would greatly appreciated it.....

Agreed! The senseless violence has to end........

NEXTA!!! Now don't go and make a single and release it on ITunes like Kim did. You just keep on with all that other stuff you're doing. Please dont release a single (or that will definitely prove that you are a copy cat). We can do most things but when we're trying to run a clothing line, real estate line, this line and that line, that's attention deficit disorder not being a 'go-getter'. You can lose yourself when you're trying to run around doing what other people do. Just do you.

Lisa, I like you better this season. You're still slick with the instigating but not as bad as last season. Nene wouldn't have known what you and Kandi were talking about had you not told her when she walked over during Sheree's party. That got the argument started. Then you left. However, you and Sheree know that Nene is a mess but you never call her on it. In other interviews (Ryan Seacrest, ex.), you and Sheree just looked like you were so sick of hearing the same argument between Nene and Kim. You need to pretend that "Kim" is not in your vocabulary and continue to do you. I would buy Closet Freak. Good luck with all of your endeavors.

Hello Lisa. You are such a beautiful person, and I truly agree with you about the all this useless death in this world. If people would just learn to love a little more and be a little more patient with each other, things like this can all be avoided. Your family is beautiful and I feel like God is blessing you. As I said on NeNe's page you have been good for her. Continue to be the woman you are and don't let anyone take that from you. God bless your heart.

Lisa I totally agree with your statement about this useless violence. It does have to stop the gangs, drugs selling to kids and i thought it would be great if yall dedicated a show to stop the violence and how important it is for kids to know that there is another way, a positive reinforcement that they can go to. At this time yall might want to reach out to the children in your show that watch. Many older men and woman watch the show that are affliated with gangs and I think that it would be something positive if Candi talks about the violence they occured and find out a number for parents to call when they need to make an intervention with their children, teenagers or family members that are going through this. I live in South Carolina where gangs are every where and there is always something on the news how someone got killed over domestic violence or gangs. With your show being national I believe that people would get the message that there is help out there for the mothers, sister, cousins, etc that see that thier family members are making the mistakes of thier lives. I know yall do alot for the women that had suffered through domestic violence but since this hit so close to home I would like to see some type of intervention for those that suffer from the gangs. Our help is needed but silence never helps. You are a great person and one of my favorites If I know if something wants to be done you would be the one to run too! I have a four year old baby girl and I can only imagine what the world, the community is going to be like when they get to highschool. Here it has been known for it to start at age 9. Please look into this and maybe we can start an orginazation for those that need the support like mothers, etc that see their children making the wrong mistakes. I wish your family well. I just thought I would mention this, did you notice how nice and smooth and drama free (besides the obvious Kandi's mom and AJ)everything was when NE NE wasn't at the engagement party. Think about it? No one was there to be all loud and disrespectful talking about peoples clothes or hair or music. Ne Ne keeps up most of the drama and that's where the problem is.

It is my belief is that the "knowing of self" is important. If an individual does not believe that he/she is not important than the value off life and the life of others is not important. Education is the key. Having a positive outlook on yourself ther is nothing that you would do to throw away the potential for a successfull life for no one. Also to i think that our Elders need to step up instead of give up on the younger generation. If we knew where we came from then maybe we as individuals will appreciate where we are going. Lisa it would be a pleasure to cross paths with you God willing one day. I am a single mother of 2 boys 4 and 13 i am currently pursuing my bachelors in Information Technology/Software Engineer. I have a goal in life to become a successfull level headed black woman like you. Thank You for showing that there is nothing wrong with women standing by there man, not just for money but pure LOVE. May God bless you in your endeavors and bless your friends and family...Salaam

You are a great friend for Kandi and the cast to have during this time because you are very caring and always there for your friends. You are a favorite of my friends and I, and I agree completely with what you stated about this violence. You have a great energy on the show and are so understanding of the people in your life. I think it was great that you spoke up about domestic violence too. I believe it will help so many many women out there to make a change.

Lisa, have you and your hubby ever heard of cross-fiber friction? I recommend that you research cross-fiber friction and then look for a local licensed massage therapist in your area and try this on your hubby's knee I believe that this would really make a difference and he may even not have to say good bye to his career you never know its worth a try. good luck.

The violence does need to stop being a young mom i grew up with violence my cousin was beaten to death for his jacket and shoes and this behavior is still on going on. The Problem lies sometimes with the lack of interest in your childrens lives be involved ask questions and show them that you care. Every parent is busy but make time for your children they are the future.

Lisa I'm in Chicago where the 16 year old Honor student was beaten to death..stop the violence is echoed throughout the Universe. How do we stop it,where do we begin...God is no short of his WORD..It starts in the home, there are so many broken families every where.Chicago has it's share of senseless killings too often. we as mankind have left GOD. We have been too Blessed ,we need to go back and re-do our first works over and tell GOD thanks.Man has forgotten his duties as a man a GOD man..meaning what is required from GOD. My condolences to you and the cast. Must commend your plea, enough is enough............I
moved back to chicago for a fresh start over Iam a victim of domestic violence and I am also a professional counselor. After college I never dreamed of so called makin it only to see the under side of life. Then to top that off my job restricts the contact you have with the community after they leave your chair. therefore we are all forced to engage the clients in as must common knowlege and hope they "get it" so please help us by speaking positively about ending the ever increasing violence in all communities because negative behavior like all behavior is ofen learned.it can and one day will change because all things are possible thru him. Peace and much love to all of you. P.s. Zee Phi...

The one your husband interviewed you on, Is it customed made or can I purchase one like it?? I love your taste and your style. You are a true class act and I really appreciate that you make real housewives like me look good.

Hi Lisa!
I love you!! I just wanted to tell you how proud I am of you for not going to that "intervention" luncheon and being part of that gang mentality. I wasn't sure about you until then because of how violent you seemed during the reunion show but you've been a lady all year, redeemed yourself. You stayed away and proved you have class! Love your baby boy, what a charmer he is!

Were I live the voilence is taking over in the last 5 years there have been at least 50 murdered children 9years. Its been relentless. I have a 2 year old son and I fear for what can happen. I personally think parents have the responsibility to take care of your child. Keep them home with you where you can be in control. If its happening around you MOVE!!!! Im tired of living hoping nothing happens.

praying for change

Lisa, lovely blog. So glad you kept it compassionate. I heard that you are getting closer to God and to your faith again. I am so proud of you for that! There needs to be more peace in this world and it could start with you making true peace with Kim and the other girls on RHOA. Peace in Christ, God bless you Lisa!

Hi Lisa,
I
agree that this violence must stop, but we as adults need to step in and volunteer our time. I would love to get involved. Is there a group that stands up to violence, and embraces freedom to be who we are without fear? If so, count me in and let me know. Time is marching, and our kids are seeing the wrong role models. I will do what I can. God Bless Ed and your little one.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth

Violence in any shape or form is destroying our society and it's making it impossible for decent people to enjoy the littlest things in life. Even just walking down the street has become a big deal because you never know who's around and if you'll get robbed or beaten . i don't know what the solution is, maybe a panel can be formed somewhere so we all as a country can figure out what to do.I think as parents we have to teach our children how to be tolerant of others and teach them self control. i too feel for Kandi and A.J.'s family. What a tragedy!

Lisa,

I am so glad that you are speaking out the violence that is invading our culture... You are abosolute that we all must pray for change....we are losing our brothers, fathers, cousins, uncles and friends at a rapid pace...and it most defiently needs to stop...AJ seemed to be nice guy with alot of potential,he and Kandi looked good together and I was looking forward for the wedding...I it is terrible that he was cut down in the prime of his life....he will not be forgotten because is going to live on in our hearts always. I am praying for peace and strength for Kandi and AJ's family during this trying time.... also I would like to pay my condolences to Kandi's family for the lose of her Uncle Ralph.....I really like how you portray yourself on the show...you are a lady of dignity and grace and that is very rare these days.. and Ed is "FINE" girl....also, I like to thank you for sharing your family and friends with us and most of all for bringing Kandi to the show was a blessing...she is a strong, independent woman who also carry herself with dignity and grace.... who brings alot realness to the show...and at this time she needs all of you all for support prayerfully, the cast can set aside their diffrences and be a comforter for Kandi...Thanks

I am sorry to hear about aj him and kandi were a beautiful couple my condolences and prayers are with her and the Jewell family also i agree with you the violence must stop. i was very deeply sadden and my heart is heavy about the tragic death of the beautiful 16 year old honor student Derrion Albert that was killed in chicago by the want to be thuggs and gangs this beautiful teenager should not have lost his life . i saw the horrfic video and i couldnt stop crying and i felt so much anger about his death and the way that he was done . and so many adults and teenagers stood by and watch and passed by and did nothing i am still outraged about the fact that noone came to rescue him or to help him or to even call 911 is totally unexceptable noone did anything until it was to late this tradgey has really weighed heavy on my heart. any i hope and pray that all the thugs who did this to Derrion Albert be punished to the fullest extent of the law .because they robbed this beautiful teenager Derrion of his beautiful bright, promising life he had so much going for himself and was a good kid who loved school and very well liked and loved . he didnt deserve to be killed i will continue to pray for the Albert family because they lost a beautiful son, brother, garndson, and cousin, and other relatives i will also continue to keep Kandi and AJ childrens and the Jewell family uplifted in prayer.

Your blog was very well thought out and a true statement. You are such a delightful person and classy very good qualities to have. I have to say there has to be an end to all of this maddness and it appears that its only be in our community. We must come together as a whole and take a stand so you and NeNe get some organization togehter like the heels project.

Hi Lisa, You are truly a real housewife. Your warm sentiments sent to Kandi at the passing of A.J. were really sincere. My heart goes out to your Ed, having to give up his football dream. He appeared laying across the bed so "depressed". Finding out that you are no longer are a real estate broker saddens my heart. I also am an agent and feel depressed in this meltdown economy. Stay inspired to do the right things. My blessing to you and Ed and your families.
