Sheree Whitfield Opens up About the Abuse

So far, only one part of the historic four-part Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion has aired, but based on a recent interview with Shereé Whitfield, we'd say there's plenty of drama to come. She recently talked at length about her emotionally-charged conversation with ex-husband Bob Whitfield that fans have yet to see.

"It was therapeutic," Shereé told The Daily Dish podcast of her encounter with Bob at the reunion. "I never would have talked about [the abuse]. It was something he kind of alluded to. No one's ever heard me talk about this. I've been on the show in and out nine seasons, and this is something I never would have talked about, because I have kids, and at at the end of the day I had a family, and that's not something I wanted them to know."

Shereé says she was hesitant to talk about it, but that it ended up helping her heal.

"I needed to talk about it. I needed to release, because I didn't realize I was holding so much pain and hurt still inside of me."

Fans of the show have also come forward in support of Shereé after an episode aired where she admitted to having past domestic issues with Bob.

After the [episode aired], I would go to store, or I would be out, and I'd have women come up to me, 'Oh my God, I just want to hug you.' Then I start crying in the freaking store. I don't want to cry in the store! I just want to go shopping! It was good, and I think it was helpful for a lot of people who go through similar situations."
And even though this season there were questions of whether Shereé and Bob would get back together, it sounds like she has moved on.
"I think for me to be the best woman I can be, not just for myself but for a man in the future, then I need to be over that. I need to move past that and just deal with that pain."
