You have a good and trusting heart and your in the music business you know the deal.....Can you say "opportunist" (I think I spelled it right) "Watch out for Kim girl" I think its great that you are successful in the music business as a song writer and singer. When I see Kim and others like her making big bucks for little talent I can kick myself for not getting in the business. "I know I can sing" and wrote a few songs too...Most of the time its not your talent its who you know. "Tardy for the Party" proved that. Kim attorney didn't tell her crap she told her attorney...She is by no means stupid...she just pretends to be on TV. How else could a woman live a "wealthy" lifestyle and not work. She's a hustler... Look at that dress she had to have sown on. She was a tug from being topless....Politely keep you distance..feed her with a long handled spoon. I see trouble coming...

I don't think you really need to explain anything, we all know that Kim is vocally challenged, to put it nicely. I do feel that fair is fair and right is right. Regardless if you had an aggreement or not, that song would be nothing with out you! A Lawyer is there to advise you not dictate what you do. So her reasonings for not paying you correctly is B.S. yes I said it for you because I understand you are being nice. I agree with you, lesson learned and it probably didn't make you or break you but what's the saying. Oh yeah, don't bite the hand the feeds you. I understand what you are saying but if ya'll are still friends then why would Kim say she has cut several checks for you--not that I believe her--because it seems that she was all good with the agreement until she starting making a killing off of the song then things changed and she didn't want to keep up her part...besides a lawyer is only an adviser, he can't make you do anything you don't wanna do..so it sounds like she got over on you and is continuing to do so..and she really thinks she is talented because she talked about you like you were her roadie for that show coming up on the next episode

I was annoyed when you worked with Kim last season to "prove anybody could make a hit". I think it was to get under Nene's skin because you and she didn't hit it off. There are so many girls in Atlanta and everywhere else that can sing Kim under the table and will NEVER have the opportunity to see the inside of a studio. The fact that you treated it like a joke was offensive. Neyo is right and I think you are having buyers remorse because Kim used you like she uses Papa for his money, Nene to get her on the show, Dallas Austin for credibility and anyone else she can. You made a fool of yourself and now you seem to be complaining about it.

Mmm Khandi... no disrespect, but on Wendy Williams and last season you said you gave Kim the song. You actually boasted and bragged about giving her the song and how you can make a hit for anyone. I think you are like many ...we just want to be appreciated. You probably thought the song wouldn’t do as well or that Kim would be grateful. However, Kim is like a lot of folks they forget about the giver and just focus on the gift. Also, the live version of “I just know” would be a perfect song to sell/give to Toni Braxton, Tamar Braxton, or any Braxton...if you don’t really want it. It could be a big hit with a soulful singer. However, even though you did all the work on Tardy for the Party, the ridiculous lyrics and the fact that Kim sang it contributed to the magic. Still, I can't imagine someone taking back a cheque they'd already given.

Regarding "Tardy for the Party" . . . Despite your friendship, you should get yourself a lawyer and explain to Kim that the reason that you are getting a lawyer is because it is unfair for her to be the only financial beneficiary of this song. You did all the work. You did everything. I believe a judge and or a jury would decide in your favor. It would be clear that you would not have made a concession like that with Bravo to play the song for free, if you did not expect to receive some compensation in some other way.

I believe this is the perfect case where it would be clear that a verbal agreement would have been made exactly the way that you said that it was. Anyone can see that and a court would too. You must get a lawyer and take this matter to court. Friendship is important and Kim is NOT being a friend to you. You are being S-C-R-E-W-E-D. Kim would never have been able to make this on her own with her terrible vocals. You are the only reason that she was able to do this and you are getting nothing. She did not even have the strength to believe in herself, you even gave her emotional support when she thought that she did not have what it took and would be the laughing stock.

GET A LAWYER NOW!!!!!! Just explain to Kim that she is not being a friend to you. If she does not understand that, then you didn't have a friend to begin with (and I question whether she is really your friend anyway).

First let me say that when you performed your song at the club, it brought me to tears. That song is FIRE and I love it. Second, I appreciate you as a woman sticking up for NeNe even though your relationship may not be the best. That's truly what we SHOULD do for one another and if we as black women did that, we could before a powerful force in the universe through unity. Third, I feel that NeNe's allegations against Kim regarding her opportunistic nature may be on point. Perhaps away from the cameras, Kim is indeed the friend that you have indicated on your blogs but on camera she comes across as a predator looking out for own gain. You clearly were acting as a friend instead of business and speaking of business..........Kim's attorney wouldn't have known about the check if she hadn't mentioned it to them. If you were stacking the cards in her favor financially, you would think she wouldn't have pulled the okeydoke. Watch her girl!!!!!!! Kandi! I love your style and following you as a musician myself. Reading this blog I could totally relate to you as a song writer. Everything you explained is 100% accurate regarding the royalty split artists/writers recieve when publishing a song...whether they sing it, produce it, write it, or have anything relatively creative involved at all during the process. So much of the music biz is about doing favors to get favors and trusting that everyone will choose to do the right thing and be fair at the end of the day. But, especially when you're working with friends, sometimes that's not always the way it works out. I've been burned soooo many times by not being smart and making sure there's some kind of agreement in writing, so it was great to hear that I'm not the only one learning from that mistake! As awkward as it is, you just reaffirmed how important getting something in writing is when doing business...So, thanks for clarifying! And BTW, Kim's not my favorite, but the "Tardy" is a hit! Congrats!
