I absolutely love birthday parties, and celebrating the birth of my daughter is the best celebration of them all! Theme parties are always a favorite, and for Kennedy’s birthday, we chose a Magical Mad Hatter theme. I have always been fascinated by talented magicians, and Harry Houdini was the original. What better setting for a magical tea party then an estate bearing his name? The grounds are divided into multiple tiers, and each one offers something more unique than the last. The children were entertained by an unbelievable magician and a team of amazing fairies who dressed them in tea party attire and lead them in magical games. Kennedy adored the fairies and has asked they return for her next birthday. While I was toasting Kennedy’s birthday with the adults, the little ones were on a fairy led treasure hunt through the intricate grounds of the estate. The kids had a blast which is the best gift a mother could ever ask for.
This was one of the first exposures Kennedy had to the camera crews, and she was shy when they were around her. At the request of many mothers in attendance, I kept the cameras away from the children as much as possible and therefore the majority of the footage is of the adults.
As I mentioned, my grandmother gave me a ring with a tiny diamond in the middle when I was a little girl. My grandmother is no longer with me, but the ring and beautiful memory remain a part of my life. My childhood experience and the fact that Kennedy loves wearing Mommy’s jewelry inspired me to give her a special piece of her own. She wears her Barbie Rocks necklace on holidays and special occasions, and I hope she will treasure her first piece of jewelry as much as I do mine.
Although the puppy was not an agreed upon gift, he sure is cute! Lots more to come with the little furry fella.
Taylor wanted you to know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. May Russell's family know that you are in our prayers as well. I liked Russell, he just seemed to be shy. No one can speak of his heart.
May GOD Bless each of you always...
Taylor you seems very nice it was nice of you to have big party for your child ,it give me joy to see my children happy .for the past 3 years i decided to spend less on their birthday party and help out the less fortunate in Haiti. and they are perfectly happy by doing that getting one less gift putting a couple hundreds one the side to help me out with the christmas kindness that i have been doing for the children in
Haiti., May God bless you and your Family
the truth about Taylor wanting Kennedy a grand party is to give her daughter what she didn't have.
We all want better for our children
who CARES whether she "bought" her dog or no. i spent 1600 dollars on my Teddy Bear breed puppy..i bought her from a store. EITHER was the dogs need home...
what breed is taylor's dog???
look up where store bought puppies come from and get back to me.
lovin the Kennedy's theme song
you gotta put it up on the tube(youtube) :)
love you tay tay
I would like to point out that a small breed puppy, such as a Maltese, is an innapropriate pet for a child that young. Maltese rarely grow to be more than 6 lbs., so you can imagine how fragile they are as puppies. Small children can drop, trip, and damage a small dog like this, and often play too roughly.
A mid-sized or larger breed dog, such as a Springer Spaniel or Golden Retriever, would have been a FAR better choice! I also hope the puppy isn't cast off like last season's wardrobe, when Taylor tires of caring for it. :/
In Taylors defense she never wanted a dog and her child has allergies from it I do not suppose she should toss out Kennedy and keep a dog point that comment toward the dad in the episode Kennedy dad said to a male guest Taylor said no dog and I said I will do what I want So re watch the episode and see who is too blame in this situation
I would like to know where your husband got the puppy. Nearly 5 million dogs are euthanized every year because of overcrowding in our local shelters. I would hope that he rescued this puppy from a shelter or rescue organization and did not purchase the puppy. I am sick to my stomach thinking that this puppy potentially came from a puppy mill or even a breeder. There are so many breed specific rescues out there and many shelters have small breed dogs who need their forever home.
I would like for you to know as a animal activist myself people do have the right to get the breed of their choice. Why not get it from rescue? this is why because some people want to know their maltese lineage akc champion pedigree. Also if you note on another episode the plastic surgeon had a german shepard flown in from Germany for anniversary. Adrienne I believe (the one who ownes a place in las vegas) . I also agree that there is way too many puppies and dogs in shelters but please still respect that we as a society do have the right to choose a champion sired maltese or german shepard which if i heard the episode of the dog as a gift they breed dogs
Taylor - You are one of my two favorites on this season's show. You are beautiful, classy, accomplished. I LOVED the tea party. I'm a girly girl, as you are. Not to be negative, but I do think that it might have been a few years early for Kennedy (love that name, BTW) to appreciate it. But then again, as one of your fans blogged, when she is older and sees pictures, she'll know how much her mama enjoyed giving her a fabulous party. Plus, I'm sure, as you said, that the children's footage was respectfully limited. Stay classy and sweet. Kennedy has a great role model.
I realize you can afford it...but just because you can doesn't always mean you should!! People in all income brackets get carried away with children's parties. We need to stop thinking about the adults and do something that the kids actually enjoy. The party that Kyle gave for her daughter was definitely over the top as well, but at least it was kid friendly. I think that your party was more for the adults instead of the children. I think you are a sweet person, but just step back and think about it. Sometimes it is easy to get lost in all the "hype." Just be real!! :)
Over the top...and not really for Kennedy...enough said.
Hi! I wanted to tell you that I noticed something that you may want to meditate on. When you toasted your daughter, on her birthday you never said "OUR" daughter. You said "MY" daughter twice, though your husband was next to you, and paid the bill. We sometimes are not aware of the things we do, but this is an excellent opportunity for you to see that maybe you may want to think of your marriage as a team. I also noticed that you are giving your child separate presents. Try to be a TEAM: ONE. Good luck!!! xoxo
I was wondering if you asked your four year what type of party she wanted? Is she into Alice in Wonderland?
After five children I have learned that sometimes you have to let go and let them decide how they want things. We, as mothers, have visions, but at the end of the day I would rather my child have fun and enjoy themselves, then put on a production (that screams I am trying to be a perfect mother).
I do not understand the relationship you have with your husband. Both of you appear to be unhappy. There just seems to be some type of disconnect. I hope we are not reading about another divorce from a real housewives cast.
Hi Taylor,
I'm a HW from Okla and when you told Kim you were about to take her out back and get real Oklahoma on her A** I cheered so loud I woke up the kids!!! I was so proud at that moment!! BTW where in Okla are you from? I grew up in Lawton but recently relocated to Tulsa.
I felt so bad for you when you were in Vegas
ps I thought the gift you gave your daughter for her birthday was very precious
Im gonna go all Oklahoma on your ass? haha, I can just see myself saying, 'Im gonna go all wheelchair on your ass', and run people over in my Hoveround. hahaha!
btw, you look a lot like Kyra Sedgewick.
i really like you on this show taylor but i think your daughter would have appreciated a less expensive more child freindly party. i always think tory spelling does a nice job. the parties are fun but they are oriented towards the child. either way i hope your daughter and family had a lovely and blessed day!
Kim likely doesn't blog because she's smarter than to get involved in the online drama. lol ;-)
I'm hoping that we see a softer side of your husband during the season, that provides an insight into what you see in him. That guy is a train-wreck in the emotional support department. Unless it's simply for the money, you seem like a very nice and heart-warming woman, STUCK with the wrong guy. Where do your boundaries begin and his end, with how we see him treating you? Shameful! What YOU want seems pointless to communicate. The rest of us hope that it's just poor editing, showing what a jerk he is.
...failed to add, if these ladies are housewives then I'm the queen of England.
Taylor, you write you blog as if you didn't watch the same show that we, the viewers, did. The thing that I have learned from the all of the housewives show is that I try to not judge ANYONE too early. When your husband gave Kennedy the dog, I realized he may be the one who will let Kennedy be the star.
I would get a nanny for the puppy!
I just really want to know where you purchased the puppy? Thanks
Are you getting my mail
Taylor that was quite a party you had for your daughter Kennedy. What is the
puppy's name.
Dear Taylor, I love watching you live your beautiful lifestyle. You are so loving to your family and friends and every one. God bless you.
Taylor you are a gorgeous woman, I'm sure you know that.. but it makes me cringe to watch you throw yourself at your husband, and for what? He doesn't seem affectionate (granted, there are cameras), and he doesn't seem very interested in you.. it's just painful to watch! I'm sure the editing process has a little to do with it, but you can't edit everything, so I just hope you eventually find what you are really looking for, though I suspect it is passionate love.
Your intro says it all, you're looking for more. Can't blame you.. money, luxury items, a comfortable lifestyle.. none of that can ever compare to the lifestyle of being passionately in love.
PS.. you ARE my favorite.. do YOUR life!!
I just read that your husband filed for bankruptcy in 2005. Doesn't look like you two have learned the value of money yet. This is what's wrong with our country...so you got over $1 million dollars in bills cleared away...you never had to pay those bills and now just five years later you're spending over $50,000 on a birthday party for a 4 year old???
You took the words RIGHT out of my mouth!
Guess you should move to China where you don't have the freedom to make as much money as you can.. quit logging on to the internet to comment on how those with money spend what is theirs.. have you nothing better to do than research this woman? Oh, and apparently pay your bills?
Oh man, Bravo.. you knew this gold was coming. I'd feel bad for these women, but I'm sure they also saw it coming and could care less.
Haha aren't we a funny world, we all dream of "making it" (what ever that is to each of us) yet look down at people who have "made it". What Taylor spent on her daughter's birthday was about the same as what my hair stylist recently spent on her wedding. The difference was that Taylor spent within her means, my stylist did not and is now fretting about the bills.
Sarah,
It's "COULDN'T care less."
If they COULD care less, then they care quite a bit.
Your party was pretty darn fabu! That being said, the tension on your face when you saw that puppy was very very noticable. Almost to the point of hate towards your husband.
The best thing about the party...the puppy
I think your party was absolutely lovely, do not pay attention to the negative comments.
Your daughter will look at pics later in her life and remember little snippets of it, I am sure.
You have great taste and a great hostess.
I actually think, as a dog lover, the puppy is adorable BUT it is a commitment for the entire family. Russell should have cleared it through you first, but I am sure you have staff to help you with the puppy training.
Again, lovely party. Look at it this way. No, they did not give it to charity, but a lot of local businesses profited from it. In down economic times, that is just fine.
Nice job!
LA Attorney
Hi LA Attorney,
I enjoyed your blog. I was wondering, since Taylor didn't mention the breed of the puppy on the show or in her blog, if you happen to know the breed? My husband and I thought the puppy was addorable and thought we would visit our local pound and even a special pound that has rescued dogs of certain breeds to look for our first dog. Please, if you know let me know. Or if you have any suggestions on a small, not yippee, lovely dog to adopt from the pound.
Thank you for your time.
cosmicgirllacoy
Get a weiney dog...you couldn't ask for a more awesome dog...(little breed) and they do have specific shelters for this breed of dogs
The breed of the puppy was a Maltese. :O)
The white dog given to her daughter is a Maltese. I am pretty sure you will not be able to find them in a pound as they are full-breed and run upwards of 1k usually but are definitely adorable! I own two and love them....although I will say that if you are not home and would not pay a lot of attention to them they are not the dog for you. They tend to pee in the house or misbehave if they are not paid attention to....a Shorkie (half shih-tzu, half yorkie) is supposed to be a great small breed! Good luck!
Oh thank you so much for responding. My husband and I have been trying to figure it out. Thank you for the advice. I do have a lot of time to spend with a puppy and look forward to whatever we choose. Thank you for the suggestion of the shorkie. I will definitely check that breed out. We wanted to look for a puppy at the pound to see what we find considering there are so many unwanted animals out there. We definitely may choose to purchase a full breed however. Thanks again!
M Lacoy.
a maltese is akc purebred dog . A shorkie is not. where the heck did a shorkie come in at ??? there is a breeder war going on over shorkies. They are not purebred dogs not recognized by akc ckc or any kennel club . Why not throw out a maltipoo or labradoodle or puggle why a shorkie? they are as far from a maltese as one can get . this breeder war is so boring yawn
Congratulations Taylor! What a fabulous party that you threw for yourself on behalf of Kennedy. Your poor husband. Just look at the way you speak to him. You should have spent the 60k on a nice necklace and beamed at the joy of your daughters interest in her new puppy. That my dear is what she will remember of her birthday and all that you could do is feel "overshadowed" and publically humilate and resent your husband for it. Classy.
The party was beautiful, and you gave a lot of people, musicians, magicians, caterers, florists much needed employment! So thank you!!! Who cares if a lot of it was for the adults. As long as the kids had fun that's the most important thing. I think it was beautiful and folks who are complaining are just jealous killjoys. It's called "Housewives of Bevery Hills" folks! What, do we want them on a budget like the rest of us? That's not why we're watching. At least not why I'm watching. We want escapism. Remember Dallas and Dynasty? That's what this is!! The puppy is a bit worrisome, just because too many families get puppies without really thinking it through, because puppies are a lot of work, and it does indeed look like Taylor is gonna be stuck with a puppy that she doesn't want. So that part was cause for concern. I'd just say, hey roll with it and get really into puppy training, and get involved in dog clubs, cause guess what...youve got a puppy! And it might be good for Kennedy to get involved with dog care. Dogs are wonderful, do puppy kindergarten, look into obediance clubs and Canine Good Citizen, cause you've got a dog now lady!!! And they are wonderful family members if embraced. But if it's gonna be a big pain for you the whole time, look out, there can be no greater misery than an unwanted dog. Regardless thanks for sharing your party with us, it was pretty entertaining.
Sometimes less is more. At age 4, Kennedy could not begin to understand or appreciate how very elaborate & expensive the party was...much less what a diamond represents & it's really rather sad you don't appear to grasp that. The puppy was at her level & should tell you something, tho you resented the attention it took from your diamond gift. The party featured you, overwhelmed your daughter & seemed to be more of an event than a true celebration for a 4 yr. old.
