As I've often stated in my blogs, it’s not my job as a producer to create phony drama. I didn’t tell Taylor and Lisa to have issues. Just like I didn’t tell Taylor not to invite Lisa. Their conflict is all-too-real
Another unexpected moment was Taylor's impromptu consultation with Paul Nassif at Lisa's front gate. Paul wasn't scheduled to be on-camera. He really was just dropping by to ask Adrienne a question. But his arrival just happened to coincide with Taylor’s storm-out. My team just went with the flow and we captured a very surreal "only in Beverly Hills" moment where after storming out from a heated argument, Taylor runs into her doctor who can examine all the filler he recently injected her with. It's too strange not to be real! The drama and emotion amongst the group at Lisa’s tea party was so raw, it could never be staged!
Finally, I want to say that all of us on the show take the issue of domestic violence very seriously. Far too often people don't talk about it because they're ashamed -- and that shame so often lets it continue. It's been a difficult and very real journey for the ladies this year, particularly Taylor, but if we can help even one person suffering from similar circumstances by sharing it with all of you then that is a very good.
Thanks for taking the time to read, and please give me your feedback on this episode.
Love this season! Waited all week for this episode! Is there any news on if and when you will be shooting season 3? Season 2 is starting to end!!!
Thank you for the behind-the-scenes perspective you provide! I do have one question: why doesn't Taylor write any blogs? It's understandable that she has gone through a lot, but at this point it might be helpful for her to explain things from her point of view.
Love this episode, too! Seeing the way they acted and their reasons for doing so made me realize that they all meant well, but sometimes are misconstrued. By watching, I learned to apply the benefit of the doubt to everyone and not to assume bad motives from others. Keep showin' more episodes!
Dave, as much as you are loved by me and everyone else, I am sure I can speak for some and say this is a totally wishy washy cop out blog. I'm sure you do love and adore all the women as you know more about them than we do. However we know what we see.
Im just glad Camille broke the silence... Lisa should be hurt by what Taylor did. If it were me, I wouldve made an ALONE appt. with Lisa. "Im having an event coming up, and I found myself not wanting to invite you... b/c I feel..." Fill in the blanks. Then the 2 couldve made up (one hopes) and all would have went well. No one should do something like that, its so selfish and purposefully hurts another. And its catty, high-school... however. The way Taylor's being abused (apparently) how else can she deal with life, right? She IS a victim. Im offended when I read fans writing, "Taylors playing the victim." Well thats her real life, not some movie or act. Shes being forced to look at life from a selfish position bc she is trying to survive! Im very pleased with last season, Im very pleased with this season and I cannot wait for next season. The more these women let us in, the more we want! thank you for bringing us this show! We get to, in some very small way, be friends with these amazing ladies in this very exclusive circle. Its like youve let us viewers in on the "In Crowd!" A PR person couldnt make this stuff up! Its great and terrible all at the same time, but hey thats life isnt it??? :) It will be
Thank you! I really wish them all the best. It's the only housewife show I'm still watching and was hoping it wouldn't turn into the catty girls show. These are class acts and it's great to see they have the same problems we all have and they live in BH...keep writing your blog...I wish the other Producers would. Also, why doesn't Kim blog either?
Here is what I want to know... when they storm out, do they keep their microphone packs on until they get home, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to hear Taylor. Does Paul walk around with one? Don't get me wrong, I love this show, but just wondering as they have to be heard, so do they just keepthose things on until they get home (or far away from the event being filmed)
I can understand why Taylor doesn't write blogs -- but why is Kim also excused??? Aren't the ladies obligated to post blogs?
I think you did a great job!! Taylor needs to show a better side to herself. She probably is afraid of what her child might see someday about Russell, so she's not bloging. I do injoy the HB.. & Kim needs to get off them Meds!!!
You know, I am proud of how you guys handled this situation. Having worked in television for many years myself, I commend reality producers each time I see something very authentic captured - what we saw was authentic, not saying the other stuff isn't we agree based on what you wrote above. But those moments are fantastic - teachable and entertaining moments we often times do not see on reality television (nor should we all the time it's reality television not PBS) however, wouldn't it be great to always get moments like that? You are right, they do not happen often. Slightly off topic but glad you guys covered the "mention" was Paul talking about what prescription drugs Kim was taking. I felt this was the case this season and glad you guys made decision to show that edit. People need to understand sometimes that's all it is. Last year a different story, but when someone's having issues - or has issues - and they take prescription drugs this can happen. I hope that's all for her. Now, back to this.... your team did a great job on this one. It IS important to show these moments and I've already posted a comment to C G that it was good of her to get the balls and stand up and say something to Taylor. Good for her. She shouldnt feel badly, perhaps the style was a bit emotion but domestic violence is SUCH a serious issue you know as I said in post to CG even if there is a slight chance this is going on and even if you have to cross some lines (it is trickly) people need to step up. I know this was happening off camera - but I'm glad she said it on camera because Taylor is bigtime in denial (and even prior to all of this I think she needs some serious help, even more than Kim... I felt that last year). Atleast with Kim we get it all out there. People like Taylor who put on a happy face, where you don't really know what they're thinking because they bottle it all up which comes off as fake to some people (Lisa who I dont blame actually) but people like Taylor are very harmful to themselves internally and not healthy people holding on to things, sweeping things under the rug and not talking it out - not good. Sorry T, do like you a lot but even stuff not relating to Russell I dunno who am I to judge/? BUT... I am sorry for your loss.
I looove that a producer has a blog. This is the first time I've read the blogs this season and this is a pleasant surprise. One piece of feedback I have for you: you don't need to spend so much time defending whether or not the drama is real - people either buy it or they don't. As a viewer, I'm much more interested in the women's interactions with you, and with what ran through your head during various moments. The detail about asking who's attending each event, for instance, was a good little nugget - it explains why Lisa was being filmed on a day when she clearly had nothing going on. I think people who read your blogs will be fascinated to learn more behind-the-scenes stuff like that, as well as the role producers play in the show. After all, the camera could arguably called a cast-member in the series, considering how much of an effect it seems to have on the women's behavior.
Thanks for writing these posts - you're probably ridonkulously busy, but these features are one of the reasons Bravo enjoys a loyal fan base. Keep up the good work!!
How great it was to see an episode with the original cast (minus Kim...what's new?). Don't really care for the other two....Brandi seems to have been written in so that shcould bring out the cattiness of the Richards' sisters....and Dana is the "nouveau riche" aspect. I do not watch RHOBH for those reasons. Although I feel very sorry for Taylor and all that she has to endure, she seems to be a very damaged person who only hears what she wants to. We can clearly hear Lisa say "Although I'm not your BEST friend..." and Taylor only hears "I'm not your friend". Very sad, but Taylor needs to clear the air, tell the truth, and deal with her life as it is now. She can only be better off for it.
Taylor came off a bit crazed in this episode. She blames Lisa for her feelings of inadequacy and her "poor me" attitude just doesn't cut it with the viewers anymore. Lisa should just move on and not waste her energy trying to understand Taylor's motives. She is a single mom of a young daughter, not too different from half of America. She is spoiled and can't continue to live the lifestyle to which she has become accustomed. Boo hoo!
My favorite Housewives. Fascinating dynamics among the women. Love your blog. And would love a blog from Taylor and Kim. I enjoy all of the blogs.
You need to bring back the beautiful girl that called her hubby her DADDY!! Interested in her story. Bet she can stir the pot on this show!! :))
Allow me to explain my perspective. In my sixty years of living, often times you will have a participant that has no scruples. If you retain Taylor on this HW franchise, I will no longer support your network by watching anything on it. It's fun to watch the wealthy indulge in the finer things in life. It's not entertaining in the least to watch a liar try to destroy other people's comfort and confidence. You can surely find someone who will cause drama without being viciously cruel like Taylor is.
The Real Housewives franchise has an interesting mix of cast members. There are those genuinely interesting women who have full and amazing lives and engaging personalities. Lisa and Adrienne are such women. Camille, Kim and Kyle are also valuable cast members.
Then there are those who have attempted to jump on the bandwagon, manufacturing their own "realities" - a facade of wealth, expensive parties( no doubt subsidized by firms wanting their names promoted). They are trouble makers. Taylor was behind a lot of trouble in series 1 and whilst she is coming off as the victim in series 2, its hard not to feel sorry for the people she has left in her wake and those that are no longer alive to give their side of the story. As a producer I hope that you will not allow the show to be derailed by such individuals.
Yes its good drama and it generates a lot of talk on social media, but please find some more authentic, accomplished drama queens for the cast next season.
Please, please, PLEASE give Lisa her own show! You could base it on her book (which is fabulous), or on her restaurant or decorating experience, or even a talk-show format...Lisa would be great at almost anything. Of course, then I'd miss her on RH which, by the way is the only Housewives show I watch. Hopefully, next season will be missing Taylor, Brandi and Dana. The last two just weren't a good fit and I personally cannot take much more of Taylor's behavior. Sorry.
LOOOVe reading a producers blog - the behind the scenes REALITY. I can't explain why I love HBH but I totally do! Got a question for you guys - WHY is Brandi on this show? How are these people selected? She adds nothing of value, she actually brings the show down and adds a base and negative quality which degrades the show. The girls have enough of their own "stuff" going on with everyones' display of insecurities, games, PA behavior, positioning, one-ups, etc. PLEASE drop her.
First of all, I would like to say that I love this show and read these blogs all the time. You guys are doing a great job. Secondly, I would like to request a segment on the RHWBH Reunion where you, the producer, sit down and share your side of the show. These blogs are great for getting a peek behind the scenes each week, but it would be nice to have you answer questions directly from your fan base - especially considering all of serious issues that surrounded the series this season. Aside from being a good PR move for BRAVO, it would give you an opportunity to divulge why you made the decisions you did as far as taping, editing and continue airing the series after the horrible incident that occurred at the end of filming this season. There were so many serious and real problems addressed on this show - domestic abuse, substance abuse, suicide - that, fortunately, haven't been shown on previous seasons or series; it would be refreshing and comforting to hear directly from the people who make the big decisions why you made those decisions and what you hoped the results would be. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if you already had something like this planned for the reunion show. This one will be so different from the others in the past because this season was so different. There is undeniably a dark edge to an otherwise entertaining guilty-pleasure - I just hope that it won't be ignored or swept under the rug, especially since discussing it has the possibility of helping others in your audience who may be facing the same issues and feel like they're alone. So please give this idea some consideration if you haven't already. Thanks for taking the time to read this and for posting your blog each week. I look forward to the next episode. Happy Thanksgiving!
Good morning Producers BH, Dave and all producers - Happy Thanksgiving, I love all the hard work that you do to put these ladies on the air.
Since Taylors blog is not availalble I would also like to wish her and her family a Happy Thanksgiving also.
Beverly Hills ladies are my favorite. I do mean ladies on this show, you can't say the same for all the other Housewive shows! Lisa and Adrienne are class acts! I must disagree with some of the other bloggers as I love Brandi and like the addition of her. If she the cadiness of the Richards sisters came out, then it was always there and just hidden to viewers for awhile. I do enjoy the blogs and think that they along with the show do keep the viewers more invested in this show more than others. Keep up the good work. After a long hard Monday an hour of someone else's reality is nice break from my own!!
