I never met Dean but I have known his parents, the Zanucks, for a long time. They are a wonderful family. I think Marisa is a warm and bubbly addition to the group.
It seems like Marisa has different plans for Dean's future but it looks like Dean takes after his dad, who always choose to stay out of the limelight.
I love our night at the art gallery, we are having fun and it's the first time I feel like we are starting to jive as a group. I was so excited I found a beautiful piece of art, made a great deal and most importantly, a gift for my love. David is hard to buy for. I am a practical girl and don't like useless gifts so this is a beautiful piece that he will cherish forever.
I am excited to go to Vegas to support Brandi and I will do whatever it takes to help her establish her new business ventures.
Again, my opinions may sound but are not meant to be judgmental. It's just my perspective of what goes on.
Until next week, much love,
Finally someone who speaks the TRUTH! I'm sure with your classy values you can find a friend to be on this show instead of Kyle trying to weasel that Fake Faye onto the show. She is about as phoney as they come.
I really like Yolanda. There are many avenues to be successful. Learning a language can help and so can a good education. Everyone is smart and talented but they must know their strengths. Yolanda is the glue to her extended family. She is right about getting out of her own way so that all the kids can feel secure and centred. There is nothing wrong with suggesting to an employee to learn English. English is a universal language and it could open up many doors , yet to be revealed. I do however take exception to her statement that the guy is the king of the home. What if it is the wrong guy. It is ok for women to want to create a loving home but the guy has to work at it also. Sometimes the more you do the more taken advantage you are. Every situation is different.
Yolanda, Thank you for the honest, forthright energy you bring to the group. It is evident you are not a game player and this is very refreshing. Looking forward to following your blog.
You are an inspiration, and a joy to watch. It's so refreshing to see a woman who could hire any number of people to tend her family's every need. Yet, YOU take care of them! I love this about you!
Yolanda, so far there is absolutely nothing that isn't stunning about you. Well i guess in my view there was a tiny flaw....the manner on how you asked the artist to leave both something on the table and pay $8K for his painting. He is a bad negotiator that is evident, but you could have been a tad more graceful and simple accepted his $9.5K for his painting. At the end he left much more on the table than you. Enjoy watching you and it is good to hear your health is improving each day. I do know what it is not to be able to form sentences and brain going whacka doodle doo! Continued success!
Yolanda, love your no nonsense approach to life. You have reminded me that I should take better care of my husband. Life gets so crazy and between working, keeping the house and keeping up with the children, your partner takes a back seat. I'm thankful you remind me to take the extra time to give him my undivided attention and to allow him to give me his. Thank you for opening my eyes to how important he really is to me and our family. Till next week, take care
Yolanda - I think you are the greatest!!! You add so much grace and honesty to the show. You truly are what I think a Beverly Hills Housewife should be. So much class, such beauty - David is so lucky to have you. You truly love each other and it really shows. I love the episodes you are in. Don't bother with Taylor, she's not long for that "zip code". I thought she was so rude and disrespectful at your dinner party. But of course, you handled it with dignity and grace, two traits she is not familar with unfortunately. Love your style, wisdom and charm!!!
I am so happy that Bravo chose to bring some class to the show. I have been a big David Foster fan for a long time. I've loved watching him play with so may of the singers that I have admired over the years. The two of you are such a great couple. I love watching the interaction between the two of you. You both seem to love being with each other and thats something I haven't seen with the other couples. (maybe Ken and Lisa) Continue to be above all the crap that the other wives seem to relish in. And don't ever feel bad for spoiling your husband.
Can you PLEASE write a book on life, love and food (recipes included)?? I am intrigued by your ambition and motivation to keep your husband and family happy.
I think that you are a great person, but I don't think you are happy. You seem to have a fun bubbly personality but it seems to be shut down in your current marriage. You have taken the role of the obediant puppy dog that has been transfixed by the large house and material possesions. I hope you find someone that will make you happy and you will not be blinded by material possesions and power. You deserve to be happy.
Yolanda you are a welcome addition to the cast. You are so classy, refined and smart. I'm sure Taylor and Kyle are so jealous of you. Hence the need to tear you down with the comments. Luv u
I absolutely love you!! So real and honest and you don't buy into the DRAMA. I need to know what went into that salad you made for the girls in tonight's (1/28) episode. It looked so delicious!! Would love to know!
I like you! You're a straight "shooter", like Lisa, and genuine. You don't sugar coat things and you have a really good handle on this group of gals. You know who's who, and that's refreshing. I never thought about the way in which you described Kyle. However, I disagree with you. I think if you watch Kyle carefully, she HAS taken a side. She's just not straightforward about it. She'd rather make people think that she's a friend to everyone. She's not! Don't believe that for one minute. She's passive aggressive and an instigator. Sorry, I'm just not a big fan. I have always thought of the Richards sisters as mean girls. Thanks for spicing up the show. You bring a new perspective and I appreciate your candor. You and Lisa make a great team.
Love you on the show. You add class to the show for sure. I just wish you didn't work the price down on the artwork. Artist always seem to get the short end of the stick. It's a shame.
You are smart, likeable & interesting...Taylor may not compute...no worries...hopefully she'll be gone soon. Picking lemons in your backyard garden...very cool. Extremely organized kitchen...Whoa!
I agree seems like every time Kyle Has something to say she brings in Faye. She is NOT one of the housewives and what is said is none of her business. I think having Faye speak for keeps her from picking sides.
My grandparents emigrated to the US and believed the same as you - learn the language of the country you live in. It's a good philosphy and can only help you become more independent and free! You're the best Yolanda - a breath of fresh air. Don't let the other women's cattiness get you down. I love the chemistry between you, Lisa, Marisa and Brandi.
You are awesome! You don't need these women. You are beautiful, intelligent and have a mind of your own. I hope you continue to stay above the fray.
Teaching English Language Learners is a great volunteer jig at the public library. Good advice Yo, why not have your crew sign up and converse when they are working that would be so helpful. Don't let the rest of the drama trouble you -- raise them up and stay real.
If Kyle isn't running to pick a side it's because everything that's happened in previous seasons, which you obviously haven't seen. She's exhausted from the fighting and is determined this season to stay out of it. And, you haven't exactly put yourself out there as far as sides go so you're being hypocritical.
Personally I think people take an innocent comment and blow it way out of proportion. YOU people are so judgemental it's really sad! She was just giving a man some helpful advise that's it! I think you all should put your time and energy into making this world a less hostile place instead of adding to it.
@Kimmybelle It may be innocent but it is also extremely ignorant! Along with skin color and "race" people are also judged and categorized by their type of accent. For Yolanda not to acknowledge that is ignorant. Sorry but a short, Latino looking immigrant man will have quite a different trajectory than a tall exotic, blonde European looking immigrant woman. Obviously this is shown in Yolanda's status as a super model and ex wife and now current wife to multi millionaires!
@LolabellO You are aware that her ex-husband is also a naturalized citizen don't you. That means he is not American born so you're idiotic crack about her is just that.
LolabellO Kimmybelle If you live and work in this country, then you should be speak English. She was absolutely right in what she told him. She shared her own story. LolabellO, you need to get over yourself.
I agree with Kimmybell. LolabellO - to assume Yolanda has had it easier just because she's tall, blonde and exotic is just as ignorant as assuming someone can't make it in this country because they're short, dark and pudgy. There are predators out there who will take advantage of anyone that has an accent so why not arm yourself by learning the language? Stay a step ahead so to speak....
LolabellO Kimmybelle Ignorance is when you don't take opportunities to apply yourself. Being self taught has nothing to do with status, I know many immigrants that didn't have dime in their pocket and are some of the most successful people I know. Better being a person who promotes achievement than someone who finds excuses based on status. In fact, people who struggle are the ones that should be learning the language of the country they reside in so they can lift the limitations and the stereo types given to them by society,,, the very thing that you are doing.
@LolabellO If he learns English he won't have to work with his back for the rest of his life!
Yolanda, Brandi lied through her teeth when she said she had reached out to Adrienne. There was an entire episode devoted to Brandi refusing to call and apologize. Not to mention the fact that at the Moroccan dinner Brandi denied trying to reach Adrienne two seconds before saying she had. SHE'S LYING.
gbearc From what I understood was that Brandi did call Adrienne but she did not reach her or actually speak to her?
I think everyone is making a huge deal about nothing in regards to Yolanda's comment about learning english. What I got from the scene, and which I'm sure Yolanda meant for it to come across as, was she was once in the same shoes as this worker, and she gave him advice because she knows how much better and successful his life could be if he learned the language of the country he moved to (she cares about him)! No, I don't think it's condescending. I'm sure she would have said the same thing to a white/black/Dutch immigrant, whether it's her staff or her family.
Also, just a little story for those of you making comparisons between her privileged life and the mover's situation... My parents immigrated to Canada when they were in their late 30s and spoke very little english. They were university educated but started over here from the ground up and now own successful businesses. My mother works fulltime and takes care of the household and has very little time for herself, but she still managed to take an hour or so out of her day to learn English and take classes.
I guess we didn't see the scenes where Yolo was working on her knees, not speaking English and finally someone told her to wise up and viola....marry Rich. The point is; she has no idea what shoes this guy walks in, nor does she know if he hasn't been trying to learn English on his own! Learning English is great, but don't tell others other what to do and try to portray yourself as something that you never were and never in that position. She learned English to keep up with her Supermodel career at 16 and marrying a billionaire....not while putting crap in people's homes.
delusional janerbabe Exactly. And, she sure wasn't working back breaking 12 hour days like those workers probably are.
@gbearc @delusional @janerbabe I agree! I'm sure the man is trying to learn English. Unfortunately for him he isn't blond and European looking but must face the discriminatory beliefs many already hold towards him. He will not be praised for his beauty giving him an automatic in in the fashion industry. I agree, English will get him farther but it was embarrassing for her to put him on the spot as she directs the project and holds the financial power to a mere worker trying to his best to gain her favor as her worker.
@delusional @janerbabe Honestly, Delusional, what is your deal, are you just jealous of Yolanda's beauty, grace, smarts and money or just a trouble maker. She learned English because this is America and that's what we should be speaking. She also was working at age 14, can you say the same? You are so ignorant it's sad.
delusional janerbabe Being self taught has nothing to do with status, I know many immigrants that didn't have dime in their pocket and are some of the most successful people I know. Better being a person who promotes achievement than someone who finds excuses based on status. In fact, people who struggle are the ones that should apply themselves, further themselves by learning the language of the country they reside in so they can lift the limitations and the stereotypes given to them by society,,, the very thing that you are doing.
delusional janerbabe very well expressed!! i thought the exact same thing. the word arrogant comes to mind while I watched this. this kind of lays the foundation (for me at least) as to how she views herself in relation to those she feels are beneath her. maybe not... but these woman have to realize they are being filmed.. what we get is what we see.. shouldn't really be up to the viewers to try and rationalize what/why they say what they do and to do mental editing for them.
Let me start by saying that I've watched this show since the beginning and Yolanda, by far, Is my favorite. She seems kind, down to earth and displays a level of maturity that seems lost on some of her cast mates. However, I was taken aback and offended by her comments to the Latino gentleman in regards to him learning English. When Yolanda mimicked his accent that was it for me, I had to shut off my TV. I find it interesting, and telling, that in her latest blog entry she took the time to explain her comments to him. Perhaps she takes for granted the obvious differences in her experience as an immigrant and his. The first being that she certainly never had to deal with negative preconceptions based solely on her skin color. America is much more accepting of white immigrants than brown ones. Regardless of whether/not he learns English this will always be the case. "She believes it's our obligation to learn the language of the country that has allowed us to live and thrive in". From the looks of it, he's not exactly "thriving" moving her furniture around and English may not be necessary for him to do that menial job or live his life here. Further, an opportunity for her to thrive in this country was handed to her at just 16 years old before she came to the USA on the basis of nothing more than her looks. Further, it appeared that he understood her perfectly as he was able to respond to everything she said to him, including her condescending, borderline racist comment. If those that work for her are truly like "family" to her, perhaps she should have shown him the respect of advising him off camera about why she believes he should learn English.
I wonder what Maury would have said to him about speaking English. He, too, came to the US from Mexico and it is obvious English is his second language. But, like Yolanda, he married well by joining the Hilton circle and has been given some pretty nice opportunities.
Yolanda married Mohammed, a man who also had English as a second language while he built a very nice life for himself.
ProgressiveBuzzFeeder I disagree. Yolanda got to where she is by being smart and savvy. Good looks don't hurt that applies to all humans. The USA is desperate for engineers, most of them coming from India, Pakistan, Taiwan and other Asian countries. These non-white people are wined and dined by companies in dire need of hard workers who understand math, physics, programming, etc. And they all learn English before they come to the US. They set goals. My husband is a dark skinned foreign engineer and speaks 5 languages. He, like the laborers, came from a poor family but he set goals.
Very nice blog but I don't understand why you are on this show. I think you are amazing beautiful and incredibly blessed you don't fit in here. You obviously have a very nice corner of the world so to speak all going your way. Why get into drama central?!
If the viewers are lucky, the original cast (not including Lisa) will be removed and more Yolanda's brought in so we really can watch the lives of the rich, famous, and admirable of Beverly Hills. THAT would be such a treat :)
Yolanda, you are truly refreshing to watch on the show and your genuine and loving persona shows with your blog as well. You have definitely added some much needed love and light to this show that has become a bit negative in nature. I hope you feel well and back to yourself real soon. Bless you.
Yolanda, I like you a lot, Dutch people in general are very likable - I live in The Netherlands for 13 years now. But taking 50% off of the painting was, in my eyes, unrespectful. Dutch “price negotiation” becomes very quickly unrespectful and insulting. A good painting from a real artist deserves as much credit as your husband’s songs, and I would excpect from a lady like you to know that.
