Welcome to the first episode of Season 1 of The Real Housewives of DC! WOW! We are here! Housewives across the country, get ready for a season that will be full of excitement and drama.
Thank you for all of your love and support. This journey began for me 18 months ago and to be finally here is a huge high. This episode introduced you to who I am. Yes, I am a hugger, and I have a lot of love and trust that I initially extend to everyone who you see in this episode. I was surprised and hurt that Lynda attacked me for having an eating disorder. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, and shines from within. I have never understood and never will, why anyone would take pleasure by tearing someone else down. My belief is to celebrate one another and empower women and support one another in life by seeing the good and beauty in each other.
My event the America's Polo Cup highlights the fashion, sports, entertainment and diplomacy of the United States that we share with other countries we challenge each year. You saw in this show the America's Polo Cup celebrating bi-lateral relationships between the USA and India. You even saw a Defense Department official welcome everyone. This is important. I do you hope that in one of the future episodes you will get to see the US military unit that proudly participated in the America's Polo Cup ceremonies. They were brilliant and awe-inspiring, as were all the speakers.
I also wanted to thank everyone for all the emails and phone calls I have received about the announcement of the book Cirque du Salahi: Be Careful Who You Trust! by Diane Dimond with our cooperation. This book will tell for the very first time the INSIDE STORY of who my husband and I are. It will include never before revealed details of what happened before, during, and after our visit to the White House, where we were falsely accused of crashing President Obama's first state dinner. This book is about more than what happens when the unsuspecting find themselves in the crosshairs of the national media. It reveals the truth about who my husband and I are, where we came from, what shaped our personalities, what obstacles we overcame, challenges we deal with and what motivates us to do what we do. It is quite simply the background of the story heard 'round the world and how we were able to survive the onslaught. What happened to us is much more than any television show can capture, much of which happened after filming had concluded. It is the true story of the Salahis. Available at Amazon.com for pre-orders while supplies last. I hope you will visit my website at www.MichaeleandTareqSalahi.com and let me know what you think of the show.
Love & Hugs,
I loved your fashion sense. I'm a huge fan of Coco Chanel and Versace as well. Can't wait to see more of you and your hubby!
Skinny girls rock! I am 5'1 and 87 pounds and you have NO IDEA how often I am judged for my fast metabolism. I just say "Hey, a few years ago an XS pajama set at Victoria's Secret fit me perfectly. Now I have to have their XS outfits altered!" They don't believe that sizes have changed until I try on both the old and the new, unaltered pajamas! People are getting bigger and skinny girls are staying fabulous - keep your head up and keep representing :)
I am not going to judge you and your husband by all the bad press you have received. However, I do have to say I was not impressed with the first episode. You really need to cut back on your coffee intake!!
girl you are gorgeous! dont let that crocodile get you down!!! cant wait to see how the show goes...
I am a slim gal myself, 5'1 and 97 pounds with a fast metabolism, people are always making cracks about my weight and it's annoying. If I could gain weight, I would! The only thing that concerned me in the slightest was when your friend Paul (?) asked you if you eat and you didn't say that you did, you just said you are healthy and happy. Either you didn't feel you needed to defend yourself or it got edited out. So with that said, looking forward to the show, but I only ask that if you are gonna be "representing" us skinny gals, please do so in a healthy way.
you look fabulous. I'm excited to see what the season has in store. I loved how you represented yourself on The View. You definitely can stand up for yourself. Go Michaele!
You wrote: "I was surprised and hurt that Lynda attacked me for having an eating disorder. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, and shines from within. I have never understood and never will, why anyone would take pleasure by tearing someone else down."
That's not what occurred. Try to comprehend the truth of what occurred. Lynda didn't attack you; while speaking to the stylist she expressed concern for your health and asked if he would please attempt to say to you that you'd look better with some meat on your bones, or words to that effect. That's not an attack; it's an expression of honest concern for someone's personal welfare. Be grateful to have a friend who cares for you.
It's great to know that so many people are okay with Michaele being skinny. I think there is more to people than whether they are skinny, average, or heavy. I am disgusted with this couple's behavior. I'm not sure how old either of them are, but I am assuming they are over the age of 18. You should have enough respect for yourselves and others to only attend those events to which you were invited, whether it's a White House dinner or a Congressional Black Caucus event. You seem to have very high opinions of yourselves and have an unpleasant sense of entitlement. I will look forward to learning more about you and the contributions you both make to society aside from running failed businesses and a polo organization (whose events are attended by approximately 50 people). Also, I will not buy your book, nor do I think others should have to to learn the truth. Please explain to all of us how you were invited to the White House, the Congressional Black Caucus dinner and when you were a Redskins cheerleader. While one mistake or miscommunication is understandable, you both seem to have a pattern of dishonesty that you have yet to explain. Now, you would like to make a profit for telling the truth in a manner for which you can charge money - a book.
Wow! I'm really impressed by how you are handling yourself with the press, and snarkiness by the other women on this show. I wish you luck and hope you show them up with your style and grace!
Hello, So far all the other housewives have made themselves look very phony, catty and just plain sELF-involved!
You - so far - I think you have class! I don't understand why the lady (who runs the model agency)has such a problem with you? She makes herself look vindictive.
So far I like your "character" and you(if you are really being YOU on the show.
Good luck to you...and keep it classy! ;-) 43 yr. old Single woman in San Diego, CA
Hope to see more of your cute dobie! My sweet guy went to the bridge last October -- he was ten yrs old. So far you and the Brit lady are my favorites!!
I also have been thin my whole life and am glad you addressed it nicely. People do not realize that saying someone is too thin is like telling someone else they are too fat.
I would like to say that after having loyally watched the other "Housewives" shows that sometimes the desire to be famous and generate lots of controversy to further yourself can become a monster that devours you in the end. So, I wonder if the drama you manifest will propel you to the level you want or bury you... I guess that's enough to keep me watching for now.
I was all ready to dislike you because of all the press that has followed you and your husband, but you are actually adorable. Love your personality and you seem like a sincerely nice cand caring person. Love the hugs!!
Im so sorry but you are just so skinny how do u do it girl......and how do you like Cat.....she seems nice, but she also seems to uppset the other housewives
I don't know you but I do know your cousin Suzy. When you came up on the screen today, I could not believe the resemblance but most of all I could not believe you guys shared the same energy you both have. I'm not sure how close you are in blood line but I truly believe the way you present yourself really is how you are because I've seen someone related to you in person. Full of life, caring and always upbeat. No matter what the press says, I fully believe you have good intentions with everyone you meet however I'm sure people might think you are fake because you're so alive and on the go. I don't. Keep doing your thing. I'm not sure why most of the women don't like you on the show but I'm sure it will eventually come out. I'm not sure if you were really invited, but I'm sure that will come out as well. Can't wait for the next episodes!
I'm so not prejudging anyone from DC! That was a lesson learned with NY and I'm not going to let it happen. DC has my interest more than any other franchise except possibly NY (before it went to lollipops and rainbows). I wish you guys the best and hope for good things for everyone.
That said, please please don't make this a Bravo Billboard for hawking your book or future products. It's nearly half of your blog and it's the first episode. It's very west coast, OC. Thanks in advance!
I love your energy. I concur with your words when you say that people have a hard time saying NO to you and that is a blessing. I feel exactly the same way. I think it's great that you love life and you take the time to talk to almost every single person around you. So far you are may favorite!
You really came off as the most genuine person in the group and I love your energy and sweet spirit. Love it!!
You came off as the best of the bunch to me. You are open minded, friendly and exciting! You have a wide circle of friends and you seem to be one of those people everybody seems to like. You traveled around the world and that has given you a sort of class the others lack. I now think that the other women (except Stacie) are jealous of you. You are not an anorexic and if you want to be slim to look good in your clothes it your business. You are so refreshing. And you could crash a party of mine anytime! You are the greatesr!
Didn't see any "atack"...but I did see the messenger not deliver the message the way it was intended. Paul might be the one to look out for. In that instance he remind me a little of Kim G from RHONJ but the jury is still out! Just sayin'...
The other women were so judgemental this episode, but you seem to love and enjoy everyone - good for you! The way you were treated on The View was disgusting and extremely unprofessional. NO...I don't watch The View, its on YouTube.
Just want you and Bravo to know....as long as you and your husband are on, I will NOT be watching RHDC.
I didn't see Lynda attacking you, she seemed to be genuinely concerned about your health. Also I saw you on the view and your husband throwing wine in her face is unacceptable behavior regardless of what was said. You two have shown yourselves to act like the senior version and Spencer and Heidi.
I think as long as you're healthy, you look just fine. I would hope that the people in your life that truly care about would really act out on your behalf if you really have or will delve into dangerous behavior like that. I don't know you nor what sort of person you are, but I truly pray that you do have people like that in your life.
I am so frustrated by how much the media & government is willing to focus so much blame and hatred on you and your husband, rather than redirecting the attention to the fact that there were inherent problems in their security that allowed it to happen! I think if anybody had a friend that worked at the White House and said "Hey, come on down to the White House" would go! It wasn't like you busted in with machine goods. It baffles me!
Michaele, You are my favorite! Your sweetness and love for people was evident and refreshing. Who cares how much you weigh? I think you're adorable! I didn't see true concern for your health from Lynda, I saw jealousy and pettiness. I wish I had half your energy! Keep shining.:)
"Team Michaele" for me too.
That woman Lynda is so jealous of you. I wouldn't trust that guy Paul either, I know he is your friend - just sayin'.
The only reason I will continue to watch is because of you. You are the new bethenny for me.
I agree with the other blogger here. Keep your head high and ignore the hate from the other wives.
I completely agree with Jewel1026. I liked your interview with K.L. Gifford & Houda. Whoopie was her usual inappropiate self and Sherri also on the view. Ross Simpson? (Assoc. Press) should get his facts straight. Just goes to show how the press screws around with the facts. I seldom watch the View as I am not interested in hearing the opinion of 3 commedians of that class. The only guest that they can get on the show are trying to sell something. I'm likeing you more and more.
Hello, Saw you last night, everywhere. Don't know how you can stand those people. I think Michaele comes across as the most honest and decent person on the show. Funny how no one will listen to your side of the story with Whoopie. Well with a name like Whoopie what do you expect. Anyway, as always hang in there. Gary =
Welcome to you as well. I think you seem to be a good person with good intentions. May I offer advice? When you are talking (networking) with people you are always looking off for the next person, making the person you are with feel that you are not sincere in your care or conversation with them. It's sooo obvious. Just a tip, really take the time and listen, that goes further than your hugs and then running off. Trust me, this will get you further.
I was VERY disappointed in RHDC. I am an avid fan of all the other housewives and thought this premiere episode was an unbelievable bore. None of your lives are really that interesting, and you all appear to be desperate social climbers. No good drama, no interesting characters, no captivating story lines. I will not be continuing to watch this show, especially with Project Runway showing at the same time. You missed on this one BIG TIME Bravo!!
Well, its only the first show but you have way too much energy for me. Just watching you got to be a little annoying with all your hugging and kissing. Some people just dont want to be touched. And I agree with another viewer, Paul may be another Kim G because he didnt deliver the message the way it was intended. linda was genuinely concerned. She wasnt attacking you so please dont start drama.
Not sure about what occurred backstage AFTER the View appearance, but I thought you handled yourself very well during the interview. I find it ridiculous that any of the hosts on the show would ask you to "stay on topic", when they are constantly interrupting every answer with a new question or a judgemental, snarky comment (Joy). Good for you!
I'm from the DC area and was very excited for your show but I must admit it was rather boring. First of all there are so many races of people and different nationalities in DC. I cant understand why there is only one minority on a show in a town nicknamed "Chocolate City". On another note why would you be surprised at something someone says about you in their interview? Havent you ever seen an episode of any other RH show? The drama has to start somewhere.
I have no problem with your weight. But it didn't appear to me, anyway, that Lynda was attacking you at all. She just seemed genuinely concerned because she thought it looked like you had recently lost 10 lbs. Maybe it was your friend who misrepresented her intentions, hmmm?? Also, I really cringed when I saw you talking to that woman at the Polo Cup, totally not paying attention to what she was saying and you just walked off. Very rude, hostess or not! I would never give you the time of day if you did that to me. Hope that was just an error in judgement and not your usual way about you!!
