4. I have NEVER had a problem donating to any charity, as I did not with this one. I knew that I would be at Lea's later that week and just planned on handing the check to her myself. In my mind it was NOT an issue at all. It never crossed my mind that someone like Lea would make such a big gossip-fest about something like this, until I quickly received that mail and started hearing all the comments she had made. Regardless, I handed her the check and called it a day. . .BUT she did not and neither did Adriana and Co. As we can see by the interviews they made it this HUGE ordeal, which I could not believe. Certainly, if I had planned on going and attending from Day 1 I would have had a table and sent in my check previously. (Answers the questions about paying Lea).
5. Do I like Lea? YES!!! I had never had a problem with her before. I considered her to be a smart woman, which is why I was surprised by the extent of her actions. . .After a million questions about the same gala topic and the "Lea said this and that about you" I responded to yet another question with "I am so tired of hearing all this s--t Lea says about me and the gala, that at this point she should pay me for coming to this gala." It was said in a SARCASTIC voice.
The episode shows that I am not the one to sit around and talk about my looks or my money or toot my own horn. I do however, not care to indulge in all that gossip between the girls and in NOT reacting or giving it importance. I am sorry if it comes across as stuck up. I promise it's simply one thing: not giving in to all that negative energy and rising above it the best way I can. I just don't understand why she created so much animosity between us. I have never understood it. It was always my intention to pay her, and if she had a doubt, the Blackberry she lives on has my number in it.
I will never understand how something that is a charity, not an obligation, got turned into something so ugly. At the end of the day I gave the money for the kids and that is what was important. (Answers the questions: Am I self centered and do I like lea?)
OK. So I hope I touched on most of the questions you guys had for me.
sorry Christy....don't buy any of your very well rehearsed and executed excuses...you definitely come across self absorbed and the attitude that you are better than anyone else....very unbecoming on you. YOu and Larsa both need to share a piece of humble pie
Clearly the most interesting of housewives in Miami, Cristy you seem to have the most attitude by "keeping it real" and that's a good thing. I hope you are able to step it up and bring the fire to this show, and by "bring the fire" I mean take that attitude to the next level and become the next sexy villain that everybody tunes into watch. Its not a bad thing because you'll become the star of the show, and your fame will sky rocket, case in point "Charlie Sheen". Elsa might be your only competition but shes just a side character, perhaps Bravo should just replace Marysol with her mom she's so much more entertaining. Old lady Leah isn't a threat, neither is Adriana because she just doesn't have the balls for it. So far you're my favorite of the RHOMIA, just keep on doing what you do.
This is how you let it go--?? Me thinks you do protest too much!! Why didn't you have your check ready when you were going to attend the cocktail hour? How generous you would have looked handing it to Lea. And by the way--am I the only one that wishes they would "closecaption" when you talk because I can't understand a word you say!
No, not convinced. It sounds like a lot of excuses to me, rather than to "Own up to your own words" as you so eloquently put it. You're stirring the pot just as hard as any one else, as evidenced by the lunch with your friend where the gala was discussed and the conversation with Larsa after her luncheon.
I'm not sure you have any room to make judgements about someones reasons for wanting private school for their child. You've already shown you like to talk about Adriana, and what goes on, but really have no clue about her life. All good Moms want whats best for their children, and there are no do-overs for their childhoods. I can fully understand the sacrifices she makes and the importance she places on her sons education. That's a place you probably shouldn't poke your nose.
Team Cristy. You have been asked -- and have answered -- these gala questions for weeks now. Move on, other people. Lea's problem is that because her husband is successful in a professional field, she feels like she's the smartest woman in the room. Adriana's problem is that she must need the show to pad her income. As a result, she tries to make controversy. Alexia has foot in mouth disease. That leaves two normal girls: Cristy and Larsa. Oh, and that other one who barely says anything.
Christy, it doesn't matter. You tried to piece-meal the event. Was there a "cocktail hour" version of the ticket? Probably not. The cost of a ticket was $500.00. Who picks up strays on the way to such an elegant affair? Everyone who entered the door should pay the entrance fee...$500.00. Since you invited the 3rd person to come...$500.00. Showing up to a Charity event doesn't mean you support the event.....donating to a Charity event is showing your support...or at least pay for a ticket. You owe her another $500.00. Invoicing you was the classiest thing to do. Sending a certified letter with "return receipt requested is evidence that you received the invoice. You treated the event like it was a house party...not very classy of you.
????? Trying to buy it but........really? Seriously? I don't know. Only you know what's in your heart.
Is it really the responsibility of a charity to also act as a collection agency...when you mention from time to time that Lea should have better things to do with her time than to invoice you, Im sure she does...(BTW how much $$ and efforts have you raised for any charity) and I am sure Lea does not have time to track down every check and dollar...truth of the matter, she should not have to.
You mentioned you did not eat or have a chair at Leas Gala...You never told anyone you were going...you did not pay...why would a chair be reserved for someone who was not expected to go???
I appreciate you taking the time to explain yourself. Like many others, I had a harsh view of you over the whole gala fiasco but you paid the ticket and it SHOULD be dropped now. How many times should we beat a dead horse? Adrianna seemed to feel the need to try to shame you in front of the rest of the women and you handled that beautifully. Next season is a fresh new start-the public is fickle and someone else will do something to shift the negative attention off you. Thanks for the entertaining season, and may you be blessed :) Angel
You are clearly trying to spin your story but no one is buying what you are selling. You come across as very immature and ingenuine. I'd have more respect if you just owned your own behavior.
If this is true then why did you make comments on the show like YOU should get paid for attending??? When you saw Lea at the gala why didn't you simply mention you would be giving her a check later that week when you saw her??? And by the way, you DO come across as one who "toots your own horn". You should've just done the unselfish thing that night and stayed at home with your sick baby (instead of crashing a gala, I mean cocktail hour, going to dinner with friends, etc...)! Grow up!
thank you for your clarification. i think Lea is a drama queen, and her little "puppy" friend too. stay strong. dont let them get to you. Sounds to me like Lea is no one to mess with, which makes u standing up to her even better!
Cristy....My 3 children attend public schooling here in Florida. It is beyond scary what Governor Scott is doing to them and the teachers! My youngest is in first grade and before she gets out of elem. school, the only option available might be Virtual Schooling, which he is a big supporter. At this point, I wish I had enough to send my kids to private school...however, you won't see me throwing any fundraisers to get them there. Maybe Lea was kidding, but how tacky would that be?!
Maybe the whole charity thing got out of hand and twisted around, but to say you don't participate in gossip and bad talking people, when we've watched you time and time again say negative things about other people, including after the luncheon when you said those untrue, very negative, gossipy things about Adriana? I'm sure at heart you're a good person, but to say you're above all the bad talk & gossip just isn't true. Who cares if you gossip, but don't act like you don't when you so blantantly do.
All the best to you though.
You still don't get it! Showing support would have meant coming with and writing a check not saying hello. Why do you think saying hello means anything?
You attend a charity function, you must pay. And you should have ponied up for everyone that showed up with you. Even wealthy people can be cheap.
Couldn't believe you asked "What would Leah be without her charity?" Perhaps a better question would be "What would Leah's charity be without her?" She obviously cares about it deeply, freely giving her time, skills, and money to it. Being charitable is more than just showing up to an event trying to look cute and writing a check.... Do you get involved and actively work for any charities or sit on the boards of one??????
You have a reasonable explanation. I believe you. Also, Lea ruined her own credibility when she called, screamed, and hung up on you (and Andy) on WWHL. That is crazy behavior. Lea is way too emotional about the whole situation; something much deeper is going on with her. Good luck with your future, and if you do the show another year, keep in mind that one of the main purposes of the show is for the producers/crew to stir up trouble by asking incendiary questions of you ladies about what they are taping. Count to five before you answer them.
End it already, she says she's been to all sorts of gala's before than she should know the procedure.RSVP and pay the bill.
Christy- I can't even say quit while you are ahead, because the more you talk the deeper you dig your grave. You have had several occasions on the show and on your blog to admit you screwed up. Instead its more excusses and more defenciveness. Please keep this in mind because you still have another chance on the reunion show.
Why does Cristy say Alexia attacks her in her blog? Alexia just mentions the comment "Cristy" made about her in the episode and nothing else. Clearly, Cristy is always on the defense and does not like to take responsibility for her actions and/or words.
funny thing is...you were late for your best friends lunch party.......thankfully Adriana gave you an excuse to not have that pointed out to you. If your baby was sick..you should have stayed home from the charity event....right?
Yeeesh!! Enough of the gala BS!!! She went late, said hello to her friends that were there, and left. At that point there was not a table set up of the donation and interupting Lea while she was solcializing at ther own event to give her a check would have been tacky. They are friends and when Lea said she wanted a donation, she got one. End of story!!!
I think Lea blew it out of porportion because it was something unexpected and she clearly likes to be in control of everything. Plus she was probably annoyed that Christy and her friends are young and beautiful and were enjoying the attention of their friends that were there.
Lets not forget that in Miami, as in other metropolitan cities, people attend fundraisers ALL THE TIME!! This was not a big deal! Why isn't anyone raising a fuss about Adrieana (and her date) NOT buying a ticket!
Cristy, Don't feel obligated to explain yourself anymore. Apparently Leah feels better about herself when she puts others down...MOVE ON! And I don't know if everyone else picked up on the fact that Adriana and Alexia Knocked you and Larsa for having help at home or nannies or whatever..when in fact on the very first episode, Adriana had her maid dressed in uniform bringing her breakfast outside! Maybe she should have her maid remind her of her son's school schedule she won't forget him next time! LOL! Also, Alexia should not be offended by your words..if she is bigger than you that does not mean you are putting her down! Clearly taller means bigger!
Hey Christie! I think you are the cutest and the most natural young looking girl on the show. I like your positive attitude, energy and natural ways you handle yourself. I think attending Gala without RSVP-ing or contacting Lea prior to was wrong. but also the way you explained it, it does make sense the way evening turned out to be I am sure it can happen to anyone, who is sociable chill laid back and popular.
BUT invoicing you was even more wrong! adriana is sso dumb! she only depends on men w money, and I feel sorry for her son, because this woman obviously cannot give him any life knowledge.
keep your spirits up, sunshine!
Cristy You just won me over with your comments regarding public schools. I wondered the same thing. Clearly Adriana is in over her head. If she is so concerned with keeping her kid in private school, maybe she could sell that convertible mercedes and stop paying people to do her hair and make up??
Spin this story anyway you like and you still come up lousy...Charity begins in the heart and unless you are Madonna or a big star and I know they give big to charities and would never crash a party on a freebie..it is not done anywhere and this charity everyone pays to help these kids at risk...you have no excuse and the more you stir the pot the worst it stinks...so give it up and paying for 2 when 3 showed up is also showing your cheap self
Let us just all put this episode under the heading "lessons learned" and we hope you did, Christy. This wasn't the way to go...own up to your mistake and take responsibility. That way we'll look forward to learning more about you, hopefully positively, in new shows. Haven't been much impressed so far, but I'll give you an open mind for the future.
Is the ticket drama seriously STILL going on? This is TV people, RELAX.... Everything is magnified to make situations interesting and dramatic. Cristy paid her ticket, donated money to charity and that was that. What more do you guys want? Yes -- there was a huge misunderstanding but it was quickly resolved. Lea did not need to send a certified letter or worse yet, CALL IN to Andys show and publicly insult Cristy. A simple call to Cristy would have sufficed.
I think Cristy needs a fair chance to show more of herself, she is super funny and seems very smart. If it was me, Id want to be friends with her over the other women !
When you asked the question "What would Leah be without her charity?", you should have asked yourself, "Where would I be without my Ex-NBA player husband's money?!!" PLEASE stop judging others because you DEFINITELY have no room to do so my dear! Even when Larsa asked "Who is Adriana," I have NO IDEA who fooled the two of you!
Marrying a basketball player is a blessing, NOT an accomplishment! Lea, Adrianna, and Alexia are all accomplished women in their "OWN RIGHT!" I don't believe in judging others, but they would have EVERY RIGHT to judge you and Larsa because they've worked for what they have!
I think it is great that you took the time to answer the viewer's questions instead of avoiding all negative comments like some housewives do. The gala mess should DEFINITELY be over by now. It was absolutely ridiculous for Adriana to bring it up again. She was clearly just trying to stir the pot and I think everyone recognized that. It's time to move on.
Lea seems to think she is the smartest person on the planet and everyone she meets is blessed to know her. She is the un-classy one for making such a big deal out of the gala in the first place. She should have just called you or given you a chance to give her a check and then it would have been over! I seriously can't believe how many people agree with Lea. TEAM CRISTY!
Regardless, you owed her for three tickets or how many friends came with you and if u were having so much drama then u should have called someone. If they could not be reached then leave a message since when u strolled into the party u never said a thing to any of the girls let alone the hostess. From you comments (video) u appear to be full of your self and it because u r young so u have to learn lessons the hard way. This is going to be an interesting season.
Christy clarified that she came with ONE guest. There is no THIRD person. She paid for herself and her ONE guest. 1 + 1 = 2.
I just have one question: Do you think you are a bigger "star" than Gloria Estefan? If anyone should have been "comped" I think it would have been her but she paid $500 like everyone else because it was a CHARITY event!
While I do not always think Lea is the most appropriate person, I am having a hard time not siding with her concerning the charity. First of all, you say you wanted to support her and the charity, but didn't plan on showing up. That is wonderful! What is not wonderful was thinking you showing up without a donation was doing her a favor. If you really intended on doing her a favor, you would have bought tickets whether you were going or not and maybe giving them to someone else if you weren't going to use them.
Also, saying Lea is all about this charity and you have a life is a narcissistic comment. Lea gives her life to the charity it means she gives her time and money to others, while you having a life means you concentrate on yourself.
My family and I have spent our lives giving to and helping others. So, I guess that means you would say I have no life too.
Also, the "classy" thing to do would have either written a check for $1500 on the spot and apologize for not RSVP-ing or when the invoice came, feel embarrassed and write a check for $2000 as an apology. Then, it would have been DONE.
You are so right. She is being so defensive and that tells me that it still bothers her and it should because she knows what she did was wrong. She did tell people that she should be paid for going to the gala, and on top of that you keep changing story to fit your need, really? She does gossip, talks about others and my goodness she keeps looking into the camera as if, she needs to stop, but then again all I can see that she is really insecure. Why else keep talking about her with the gala or how real she is, a person who is real and down to earth just don't talk about it at all, it's all about action. Too bad she doesn't have any, what I see she is all about herself, I could be wrong but that is what I get from her, oh well.
Christy, as you can clearly see.....nobody seems to believe you had any intentions to pay at all !! If you had intended to pay you would of handed Lea the check as soon as you arrived....You seem to think by showing up to say hi and show your support excuses you from paying the donation....The charity was clearly not looking for that kind of support honey....charities want cold, hard cash !! Just admit you made a bad judgement call instead of making excuses nobody seems to believe....you have a lot to learn about how and why charities do what they do. Watch an learn from your mistake !!
Well, I believe you did wrong on the charity thing, but geez, enough is enough. It's over and done with, move on. I will say you are probably the pretties woman on all the shows, but that is on the outside. Change your attitude and your vanity a little and you could win everyone over. For you to say, they should feel lucky you came at all, is wrong. To say you were showing support, was wrong. You walked in for a celebrity shot. You wanted to be seen, just like a lot of the people there did. You acted like you were doing them a favor by blessing them with your prescence. Anyway, just try to act like a lady, and if there's a 2nd season, you should do fine.
Sorry, but I have to agree with the majority on this. If you thought you were going to be out of town, obviously you're not going to buy a ticket. ok. But your daughter gets sick, you stay. Thats not Lea's matter. It sucks that it worked out that you could have made it after all, but you didn't have a ticket so you should have just brushed it off as "well, I hate I had to miss the charity." Just as Lea said, EVERYONE, including herself, had to buy a ticket. We know you knew what your intentions were when you so caddily comment that you were doing HER a favor. I was an event to raise money for a charity and if that was not your intentions then you had no business being there.
Just wondering Christy, what high school did you attend? Do your kids attend public school? Being from Miami myself, I think you and I both know that the public schools STINK in South Florida. Any parent with who can afford it, puts their children in private school. Even the parents who "can't afford" tuition, find a way to make it happen. You can't blame Adriana for trying to do what best for her son....not that it is ANY of your business, chismosa!
No, Kristy doesn't belong on basketball wives because they have more class than she does! And when they make mistakes, they are big enough to apologize for them!
Since you are a wealthy person, why didn't you just pay for the three tickets? At the luncheon, you denied having anything to do with the third woman you were photographed with; however, now you admit she is a friend you were spending the evening with. $1500 does not seem an exorbitant amount of money for a "celebrity" as you identified yourself in the red carpet at the gala.
Ok.. Lea was ridicules and so were you. This squabble is a non-event. The more you talk about it, the more foolish you sound.. Just stop.
