My Struggles with Miscarriages

Lisa opens up about her fertility issues.

Oct 4, 2012

Ana and her daughters are so funny together; that relationship is wonderful. It makes me want children more than anything . There is no stronger bond.

The Winter Party Festival in Miami is basically like gay Christmas, as Ana said. I love and support my gays all the way, so I of course wouldn't miss this event. Not to mention I would not miss Joanna performing. She killed it! She was worried for no reason. This is where we found out from Marta about the 4 am phone call about Romain’s alleged cheating scandal. Those two have so much stress on their relationship, I really hope they can rise above it all and work it out. It’s going to be tough.

Happy New Year to you too!  I wish you luck in your dreams of being a mom.  With that in mind, please be aware of the dangers of GMO's [genetically modified organisms] that are found in so much of the food that is made and prepared in the USA for our consumption. They hve been linked to miscarriages. One of my good friends, like you, had a hard time carring her baby full term.  Once she stopped eating ALL GMO's [corn, fructose corn syrup, soy, canola and sugar made from sugar beets -these are the ones that are most prevalent in our food system] and was cleaned out of them, 2 months later, she got pregnant and carried her baby to term, after 3 miscarriages.  Just a thought I wanted to share with you, in your quest to have your baby.  I enjoy you on the show -and your home is beautiful. If yu have any questions about the GMO issue, please contact me or do a search of Jeffery Smith to find out how to avoid these untested, unlabeled frankenfoods.  Remember that when you eat out, unless it is an organic restaurant, you areeating GMO's.  I had to stop dining out.  I have been freeof GMO's for over a year, and I have never felt better.  It is sad that they use this to make the food in America without a label to let us know. So until it is labeled, just avoid the above list in the ingredients you eat.  It may help?  Kindest Regards, Susan

Lisa, My heart goes out to you as I watch you discuss your infertility issues with your husband. So much so that I had to come online to share with you two potential resources that might help you and your husband. Have you ever heard of Gut and Psychology Syndrome (GAP Syndrome or GAPS) and/or the Weston Price Foundation? Many women have found both of those resources to be extremely helpful in conceiving and because of that I wanted to share with you. I've provided two quick links to help you get started if you're interested. I hope this can be of great help to you!

Lisa, I think that you are the most down to earth housewife ever.  My best friend went through infertility for ten years - I saw how much pain she went through on a daily basis especially because her husband is a pediatrician.  So many people were insensitive asking "Why don't you have kids yet"  Well, after two IVF's she finally became pregnant with twin boys.  We lived on the coast of South Carolina at the time and when she was 34 weeks the doctor noticed that something was wrong with one of the boys.  Unfortunately, a catergory 4 hurricane was headed our way so she had to be evacuated to Atlanta to have an emergency c-section.  Her first son was 4lbs. but her second son was 2 lbs.  Both of my boys were 9 lbs. so it was very hard to see such a small baby.  However, they are now 5 years old and perfect.  So stay strong and I'm sure things will work out for you and your husband.

Lisa, I am so glad to see how much you love your dogs!  I have 2 perfect schnauzers (a great euphemism for boobs or something!) and they are the loves of my life (much to husband's chagrin).  My only comment would be that instead of letting the water pour over Leo's head though, I would use a wash cloth and rinse his face that way.  Otherwise the water burns their eyes.  It's also refreshing to see a kind person on the show!

Lisa, I had 6 miscarriages before having my two children. Many test were done, and nothing was found. It was emotionally and physically the hardest thing I have ever gone through. You feel guilty, like its your fault. You feel helpless, and above all sad. Just know you are not alone. My OB-GYN and Reproductive Endocrinologist decided to put me one baby aspirin (81mg). I started taking it once a day, got pregnant, and continued taking it until I was 35 weeks along. Then stopped a few weeks prior to delivery. I don't know if it was the baby aspirin or maybe it was just my time. I now have a beautiful 3 year old son, and 1 year old daughter ( taking the baby aspirin for both pregnancies). Of course ask your OB about anything you decide to do. But I wanted to share my story with you. Take care of yourself, be strong. You will be a mommy one day, I just know it! Many Blessings, Sarah H.

I just watched the show again. I like you and Lea seems to really like you. She never really has said anything bad about you. I think the drama is coming from the other girls. Good luck with having your baby, you would be an awesome mom.

You are such a cute couple, and I just wanted to know if you had considered adoption? You guys would be the perfect parents for a child that needed to be adopted. I believe adoption is the ultimate gift of love, and you two would be just perfect for a baby. Please consider all of your options.

Lisa,

You can always see a true person by the way they act around their friends or "so called friends" and we all see you are genuine, kind and beautiful...very rare qualities in South Miami.

My heart goes out to you about your difficulty starting a family. But, I strongly believe you will have your family! Just keep positive and everything will fall in place.

Stay Real!

So far, I really like you on the show this season. At first I thought, "typical trophy wife" but you do seem to have some smarts about you, and I feel for you and your pregnancy issues, because I can relate.

have you considered adoption at this point?  So many children need parents!

I have to say you are my favorite and the most interesting on the show. if it wasnt for you then i would not be watching

You and Ana are my favorites.  You both do not get into the muck of silly fighting- there's far too much of that on these shows now.

You are so beautiful and your hubby is a wonderful guy- you will make great parents.  I agree with those who say consider having someone else to carry your baby for you.  Also adoption is an additional great way to provide for a sweet child who would otherwise not have a good life.  do both if you see fit.  You seem like someone who will thrive with a brood of kids!  Lots of love is a wonderful thing!  Good luck!!  xx kiki13

Hi Lisa.... I am finding I like you alot .  At first I was thinking that you were going to be just a kind of bit of fluff airhead (sorry) but you are surely not.   I was wondering if you had thought about going with a gestational carrier, where the baby would be biologically yours, just someone else carries it for you.  Have you followed Giuliana and Bill Rancic's story at all?  That's what they did and they just had a beautiful baby boy !!  I hope you guys consider this and maybe we could follow along !!!

Lisa,

I, like you could not hold a fetus. I could get pregnant but could not carry the fetus beyond the first term. After 10 miscarriages I was finished hurting over the whole ordeal. Not long after that decision, I was making small talk with a man I had hired to clean my carpets. He mentioned out of the blue that his wife had just had a baby after several miscarriages. Ofcourse he had my attention. Anyway, he told me she had done major research as to why she could not carry to full term. He said call her she will speak with you. And so I did, Well, I did as she instructed me to do and gave birth to a girl 11 months later. I have passed the infor along to 6 women that now have children after many miscarriages. This is not a joke or some whacky herbal pill. These women's ages ranged from 30-43. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you be interested in the journey we have taken. Good luck.

redhead52 I'm curious what you did. I have a friend who has been trying to get pregnant for six years. She's so determined but at the same time so discouraged. I try to give her advice but it's hard if you have never lived it.

Lisa, as I saw you interact with Lenny regarding your infertility issues, my heart went out to you. I too struggled with it years ago, and know the pain and tears that come with it.  And then comes the joy as now I am the proud mother of two teenagers.  I said a prayer for you as I truly believe in my heart one day, Lenny and you, will experience the joys of parenthood.  There is no greater joy - headaches and all. lol (The headaches come in the teenage years but they are well worth it. :))  God bless!

Please read "Milk Grotto Church of the Virgin Mary in Bethlehem" (also called House of Milk) visited by millions of women of all faiths with infertility and problem pregnancies. Legend has it that when Blessed Mother fled with Baby Jesus and husband, Joseph, on the way to Egypt, She stopped to breastfeed Jesus at this site, and Her breastmilk spilled. Many miracles have occurred from praying at this site. Ask the Blessed Mother of Jesus to intercede for you in your great desire to have children. Also, ask your doctor to do dna testing for blood disorders. After a failed pregnancy, my daughter learned she had a hereditary blood disorder called homocystenemia, clotting disorder, which was responsible. We learned our other children have it, and, both my husband and his family, and my family and I have it. This was responsible for miscarriages, stillborns, much heartache. Today, we are all being treated. My daughter now has a 2.5 year old son and a 9 month old girl. God Bless you and your husband. I will pray for you both.

My heart goes out to you. I also feel like I have to defend myself for not having children yet. And how do you answer those questions without making it AND taking it so personally. I hope that your journey in gifting your husband a healthy happy child is a short one.

Lisa, I'll be perfectly honest...I didn't like you, you seemed plastic, spoiled and fake.  But after seeing the way in which you have discussed your infertility issues on the show you have won me over.  I can relate because I have been trying to conceive for 5 years and can not get pregnant myself.  I know what you are going through.  I know how painful it is, and how difficult it is to talk about it, with well intentioned friends and family.  Which makes me admire your courage in discussing such a personal struggle to an audience of millions.  It really helped humanize you and goes to show all of us human beings have our struggles, even the rich and beautiful.  Please stay true and be yourself.  I hope our dreams of motherhood are realized soon!  Take care.

Lisa!  Please try acupuncture if you havent already...I had 5 miscarriages and went through fertility treatments with no baby until finally I tried acupuncture to " increase the blood flow to my uterus" and then at the ripe age of 43 I gave birth to my sweet baby boy Dustin.  What a wonderful miracle, but since you are so young, please try that and I will be crossing my fingers for you!

I hope God blesses you and your husband with as many children as you want. You can certainly afford them. You have a beautiful home and a beautiful life. There are so many children out there that need a good home. Perhaps you should consider adopting.
