Jennifer Stuns in Black Vintage Gown She Hadn't Worn in Decades: "It Fits!"
The RHONJ cast member shared a photo of her wearing the dress back in 1999.
Although her taste for bold, trendy fashion has been well-documented over the years, Jennifer Aydin clearly understands the power of timeless style.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey mom took to Instagram over Memorial Day weekend to show off another fantastic wedding guest look. But this time, she opted for an oldie, but goodie. On May 27, Jennifer posted photos of her wearing a black strapless gown with an A-line silhouette and delicate floral appliques across the bodice and waist. She complemented the dress with a sleek top bun, a black evening bag, and several pieces of silver jewelry, including a ring, bracelet, necklace, and drop earrings.
While the gown could easily fit in a contemporary formal collection, Jennifer revealed the piece was more than two decades old.
“It’s definitely wedding season, there’s my date,” she said in an Instagram Story, before turning the camera to her husband, Bill Aydin. “My look tonight is classic. Did you know this dress is not new? It’s old. I was 22 when I wore this dress.”
The Dress Was Inspired by a Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer went on to share a closer look at the gown and provided more details on how she acquired it. The mother-of-five said the piece was inspired by a Badgley Mischka design that Jennifer Lopez wore to the 71st Academy Awards.
“I never got rid of it because I remember how I begged my mom to buy it for me,” she wrote on Instagram. “It was a #abs replica of a [Badgley Mischka] dress that [J. Lo] wore to the Oscars that year. They did that back then. It’s classic and timeless, and best of all??? It fits!!! So as [Bette Midler] said in one of my favorite movies [The First Wives Club], ‘It’s better than new! It’s old!’”
Later that night, Jennifer reshared a throwback photo of her wearing the dress in 1999. The picture was posted by her brother Steven Altinel on National Siblings Day 2021. The picture showed the brother and sister both dressed to the nines; however, Steven couldn’t recall the occasion.
Jennifer Continues to Slay Wedding Guest Style
Now that wedding season is in full swing, we expect to see more stellar looks from the New Jersey mom. It was just a week ago when she attended a ceremony in a fire-red gown by Cinq a Sept. The piece featured a square neckline with cami straps, a bow accent at the hip, and ruffle details on the slit hem.
