I have been lucky enough to have been invited to fashion shows and to walk in fashion shows for many years. The women not only get to sit in the front row, which is meant for celebrities, editors, and A-listers, but also get to go backstage which is strictly for REAL celebrities only. Now, because of filming, reality TV stars are sitting in the front row and taking seats away from the industry people and the attention away from the artistry of the show, and demeaning it with grade school banter. This is not normal behavior, and I have never seen people fight in the front row of a fashion show in my life except for when I started filming The Real Housewives of New York City. Lisa Rinna has been a friend for a long time. I do not make a practice of getting into other people's business so I switched seats to sit closer to Lisa. This craziness is a constant. Some of these women never went to fashion shows and parties before the show, so they are acting up. It's fun to watch, but awkward to experience.
I ran into Ramona at another fashion show. We were both invited to attend for the show. Ramona brought her daughter, who was so excited about attending her first fashion show. I wish you could have seen the scene where Avery tells me how she made her outfit. Ramona didn't invite me to her party over Labor Day, which was fine with me. I didn't see a reason why she would. We only filmed a little bit, and we are merely work acquaintances. I was taking Jill to Perez Hilton's party and after Ramona insinuated that I wasn't going to invite her, I did. Why not? I don't spend any time with these women outside the show, and I really try to make an effort to be real while we are filming. If they want to be in negative town and constantly try to demean what I am doing (i.e. Richard Meier's model museum, where I was horrified when Ramona told the curator about Meier) that's their game. Life is too short. I took Ramona to the party, and she put her daughter into a taxi alone. My heart sank.
I then was invited to a drink launch. I have known Robert Verdi for a long time. I used to go on his show when he was on E! all the time as a fashion expert. I came to show my support, and to give Bethenny a chance, which she so desperately pointed out that I never gave her. I don't get why these women are obsessed with what I think and do. Regardless, I made an effort, got dressed up, and went. I am honestly not a big drinker. I worked my way through college and never had those wild, raging twenties, and I was having babies in my thirties. So, the way I live my life is totally different than most women. And as a workaholic and single parent, I would never drink alcohol during the day if I was going to be with my girls. I took a sip, and the first taste was so strong and then very watery. It's not my taste, however I do admire Bethenny for trying to build a brand.
can you explain something to me? you can pose nude for playboy, whch you consider an honor, but nobody can ask you about some breast surgery? what's the deal?
I just posted this same thing on Bethenny's blog, but for a different reason. It seems as though you run from thing to thing and miss out on the opportunity to create deep relationships. staying put is hard at times, but the payoff is worth it. so I also say to you "don't just do somthing - sit there" all my best D
Kelly-You're a beautiful woman but man you embarrass yourself in at least every episode since you joined the cast. Sometimes I don't think you think before you speak, or you just speak to hear your own voice.
Kelly are you on our plant. Sometimes you seem really out of touch. I love fur myself, but really you don't think peta is all about how fur is optained. You need to really listen to yourself.
Kelly....I love the way you are showing up this year! Honestly, last year I was wondering a bit of who you were and what you stood for and felt that something was missing. This year, different story, you are coming across wonderfully authentic and real with an amazing amount of class! I was embarrassed for you when Ramona said things out of the realm of respect and decency at the recently aired SAKS event. Good for you for stating your boundaries and standing your ground! Congrats on your cover and spread in Playboy, keep up the great work raising your two beautiful daughters and keep staying true to yourself! Plus, thank you for putting yourself out there, so people like me can see into your private world and make comments like we have known you for a very long time and are qualified to pass judgement.
Kelly, FYI-- in last weeks episode, you said Playboy was infamous. Infamous is something that is well known for a bad reason, such as Pearl Harbor. Famous is the word you should have used. I just don't think Mr. Hefner would have liked it if he heard you call his magazine infamous.
Kelly -- I wasn't sure I liked you last year, but I'm changing my mind. You really don't seem to want to be involved in all the drama that goes on with the housewives ... unfortunately, that's what the show is really about. One thing I would say ... don't take everything the ladies (especially Bethenny) say to you so literally ... it makes it seem as if you're maybe a little dense ... which I really don't think is the case.
You were on the rise but this blog shows once again how everything needs to be about you. Going down again.
I appreciated the fact that you felt bad for Avery going home alone, I did too. You seem to have alot of compassion for children, I like that. On another note, last week you went on about all the beer that you drink??
Kelly I hated you last season but loving you in this one hope you keep the good attitude. cheers from miami
I think it's admirable that you are making huge efforts in getting to know these women, even though they are just catty children. Stay strong! As far as Ramona, my heart sank when she sent her daughter home also. I also was shocked at the most inappropriate conversation she wanted to have with you in front of strangers. Good on you for standing up for yourself. All the best, Valentine (Washington, DC)
Kelly - Something about you I love. But sometimes I wonder about you. You mentioned Peta doesnt talk about how you are not supposed to wear fur? Peta is against anything that has to do with the mistreatment of animals. Do you think fur is obtained after the animals lived a nice life on earth? Please watch a Peta video and see how they raise animals just for fur and the brutal, torturous way they are killed.
There are alternatives to looking good. Having a slaugtered animal on your body is not stylish. Yes, there are gorgeous alternatives to fur out there.
Kelly, you wrote: Ramona didn't invite me to her party over Labor Day, which was fine with me. I didn't see a reason why she would. We only filmed a little bit, and we are merely work acquaintances. One question - then WHY ASK HER why you weren't invited. Who does that? The word inappropriate was thrown around like dollar bills at a strip club last night. Dont you think that asking why you didn't get an invite to be a little inappropriate? You obviously thought arguing at a fashion show was inappropriate - why wasn't that?
Kelly don't let the haters get you down! I admit I was on Team Bethenny last season but after the few episodes of this season in so far, I am convinced that everyone on the show is freaking nuts. I don't get how Ramona feels like she can ask about your breasts but then god forbid someone say that she's got crazy eyes. The show needs to thank you for bringing more fashion!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE how real you really ARE on the show!!
I actually find it amusing how each of the other housewives does NOT get that about you.
Keep it real Gurl!!
Ramona was totally out of line for asking you personal questions at the dinner party, you handled it very well. So glad to see you and Bethany getting along .. but for goodness sake, she wanted you to take a SIP of her product..not down a shot of tequila . What was the big production for ????? P.S. You look fabulous !
Now I get why you didnt get the fashion based tv show. Can you imagine having a disagreement with producers etc and saying ssstttoooppp!!! Seriously, if you cant express yourself coherently with housewives forget truly powerful people.
Kelly, I love the way your brain is wired.
Don't care at all if others don't get you. Don't care if others feel there is a contradiction between your posing for Playboy & not wanting to discuss breast surgery in a social setting, or wearing fur while still being an animal lover. Life is full of contradictions & most people are hypocrites, intentionally or unintentionally, at one time or another.
I notice your speaking and writing styles are markedly different. Lots going on there. Too bad if some don't get it.
Keep on poking peoples' brains by being yourself. You're great.
I watched that clip where you were interviewed by a guy from Playboy. You acted like you were in high school or college. It was weird.
KELLY, I LIKE YOUR STYLE. YOU DON'T GET ALL CAUGHT UP IN OTHER PEOPLES BUSINESS. KUDOS. I THINK IT WAS WRONG OF BETHENNY TO KEEP ON ASKING/FORCING YOU TO TAKE A DRINK OF HER CREATION. SHE IS VERY PUSHY. YOU SHOW THE OTHER HOUSEWIVES WHAT IT IS TO BE A MATURE AND HONEST PERSON AND THEY SHOULD BE LOOKING UP TO YOU, NOT DOWN ON YOU!!!!YOU GO GIRL!!!!
Brilliant, Kelly! Great blog today, and you were all things good on the episode last night.Clearly you are the only cast member who knows the ins and outs of the fashion industry, and were so correct in asking the ladies to behave in their much coveted front row seats. If they were on an elementary school playground the whistle would be blowing for them to stop! As for Bethenny trying to force-feed you her mixed drink....is she kidding??? You were entirely gracious and took a sip out of courtesy. But seriously, who eggs someone on to drink in the middle of the day when they have made "No thank you" perfectly clear.I think you handled her well. I also think after that, you have paid your dues to Bethenny, who only bad mouths you in her sarcastic and cutting ways. Lastly, you are spot on with your response to Ramona's inappropriate questions. She was rude, rude, rude...and crude.
I love your life. i think you are super pretty. i am only 16 but i love the show, all the ladies are great. And I support your photo shoot for play boy, and i think that is such a great opportunity and you are very lucky. the others are just jealous
Where to begin! If you didn't care about being to invited to Ramona's party - why ask her about it? Why ask about it in front of her daughter? So, what you did is OK. Luann making little digs at Bethenny about attending fashion shows is OK too, but don't respond by telling someone exactly what they think. I must need a New York Fashion Show rule book. You don't drink alcohol, but all you do is talk about your beer diet. Really?!
Kelly, your beautiful and I'm happy your willing to put men on the back burner for your kids. You look great for your age and I appreciate the fact you like to keep your personnal information to yourself (Ramons comment on breast implants...please!) You really appear to be honest and try hard to be friendly and not stab anyone in the back. Keep being Kelly!!
You know what, I really like you this year. You really are quite nice, and a good mom. Love watching you on the show.
Hey Kelly. We're seeing more of who you are this season and I think you're a breath of fresh air. You're full of moxie and I love your courage. Also, love your style. Keep being Kelly.
Can I just say the comment about Ramona's daughter Avery going into a Taxi, really? I was born and raised in NYC and was riding the subways, buses and taking taxi's younger than 15. The main thing should be that Avery is a young lady and has a decent head on her shoulders and does not seem like the teenager who would hop out the taxi two blocks later to go party. I will say kudos to you for bearing it in Playboy, you take good care of your body you should celebrate it.
I must say, I'm startled by your blog.. I was set to tell you how sorry I feel for you and how some things go over your head and hear you go fooling me and probably all of the viewers. I know you fool your cast members, you are not an airhead.. I'm sorry, I think you are acting that way because you don't want to be involved in the drama.. Kuddos to you for fooling us all. Stay sweet and I think I'm going to take a dose of what you take, stress free/drama free pills..
Kelly, It is kind of you to commend Bethenny for building her brand. However, it is clear she builds her brand at every NYCHousewife member's expense. She has verbally executed every one this season. This season you clearly became more visible and comfortable in dealing with this group of cast mates. You more than hold your own. Clearly you shine. You are fabulous, plain and simple.
I liked you last season and of course I on you side this season. You are doing a really good job being down to earth and not trying to be someone your not. Who cares (other than Peta) that you love fur, alot of men & women wear it and I would love to have some fur in my closet. I don't like that animals being treated badly, but I love fur too.. I don't like how everyone this season so far is being so judgemental. Jena on the HWOOC said "We are not judge & jury over each other", and man that is so true. Good luck
You, Jill and LuAnne truly are the only ones who know the rules of proper behavior at public events! Stay yourself and I loved that you flirted with the interviewer, you go girl he is hot!
I really like Kelly and would "love to live the fabulous life she built for herself". And I think trying to take the high road and not saying snarky things about others is what we all should aspire to. And if she wants to pose for Playboy, that's between her and the father of her children to decide what's best for their girls. She gets insulted regarding her intelligence, but she seems to be one of the few people who know how to get along with people and act in public.
Kelly! I think you and Kandi are the only non-alcoholic housewives of all of the shows. (Okay, Jill just drinks diet cokes but I always think of her as drunk because of her tantrums and drunkesque behavior.) Ironic thing is that you and Kandi are the only RHW cast members who came on board with real entertainment credentials and the only ones who try to avoid drama. Good for you being a good mom. I, too, was mortified to see Ramona dump her child into a nyc cab so she could accept a last-minute party invitation. Guess it's all about priorities.
Hello, earth to Kelly! You aren't a big drinker but "OMG, I drank soooo much beer yesterday!". You do realize that most commentors of your blog watch the show, right? i do admit, thought, that you are looking fabulous! I'd love to know your fitness routine and diet!
Kelly , You are alot fun this season. You tell it like is. The other girls should save the drama for there mamas ..Great seeing again on house wives
Kelly, You are by far the sexiest housewive out there. And you look goregous with or without fur on. Love the way you carry your self. And as far as posing for Playboy and having children. I am totally ok with it. And when they are old enough to understand. They will also be ok with it, laughing all the way to the bank wearing fur's before stopping in for a steak dinner. LOL...And for real. You should have told Romona. Rrreeeaaaalllllllyyyyyyy, I didn't invite you because I really didn't want you to go. And wouldn't have came to your party anyways. As if.......... Stay SEXY...Can't wait until Thursday.
Ramona & Bethenny need to be ignored. There is simply no way to try & reason w/ crazy Ramona & someone as completely self-absorbed as Bethenny. Just a polite hello to them, then let their crazy spew. As it becomes unbearable & completely off the rails, politely excuse yourself. It would be hilarious! Only hope they don't literally run after you still spewing. On the other hand, you could outrun them both easily!
Hi Kelly, Honestly, you are the BEST housewife this season thus far. I don't know how you can stay so positive around Ramona and Bethenny. They use their tongues as weapons. I always believe that what you put out there in the world is always what you'll get back. So, if you choose to snipe people down with words, whether in front of their faces or behind their backs, be rest assured someone else is doing that exact thing to you. Also, being mean is NOT calling people out. I never wrote a comment here before but felt like I wanted to tell you that you are great on the show and I love your spirit. Keep the positive vibes and attitude going! You are influencing others to do the same. viewer from Berkeley, CA
So it is not ok for drama at the fashion show- unless it is your drama? Sssstttopppp kissing up to team Jill so hard. Seems like you have decided who is the better investment, status-wise. You are still slapping at Bethenny and that is not necessary. It seemed like you guys were being civil- until reading your blog post.
I give you alot of credit for being able to sit through a meal with those women. They frighten me! Stay yourself, and don't let yourself get caught up in their nonsense. Real housewives has become mean, backstabbing housewives, and "who cares" is very understood, by this NY photographer. I love the show because it confirms the choices I made in my life. I live across the street from Jill... and giggle to myself when I see her coming out of her building.
Stay exactly the way you are, keep those rose colored glasses on!!
Kelly - I appreciate your concern about Ramona sending Avery off in a cab by herself, but is it really your place to question her judgment? Avery is a teenager and was placed into a cab by her mother...what do you think is going to happen? I am a teacher in the New York City public schools, and my students (who are much younger than Avery) are taking public transportation (subways and buses)to school everyday, all by themselves. At some point children have to grow up and if Ramona feels that her daughter is mature enough to ride in a car by herself, she shouldn't be criticized. It's not like she put a 5 year old in the car, or just walked away and left Avery to find a cab by herself. It was a safe situation and Avery was fine.
kelly.i think it is cool you really do not drink much.alot of the housewives seem they can not live without there beverage of choice.i think also you and alexis from o.c. never have to use a foul mouth to make a point.never let people talk us into things we do not want to do.i love your little coment about little voice on the shoulders. try it. do not try it.romona is crazy.for get about what she said she drinks to much.maybe she needs aa classes.kelly take care bev m.
