To all you loyal viewers, my wish for you is to get acquainted with that sense of adventure within yourself. Dream big. Don’t listen to people who say who do you think you are? To steal from Victor Hugo, jealousy is an admission of inferiority. Look for similarities in people but remember to celebrate their differences.
Robert Fulgham wrote a great book called, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. He said to play fair, clean up your own mess, and don’t hit people. Take a nap each afternoon, say you’re sorry when you hurt someone, wash your hands before you eat, and flush.
But above all, be aware of wonder.
This concludes the final dispatch from Radziwill headquarters, Season 5 Episode 20.
Best to you,
Thank you Carole for sharing yourself with the world on RHONY. I feel I have learned what a person with real class acts like and looks like by watching you. While it feels painful to let things roll off---it certainly looks a lot better to walk coolly away and that is what makes you the star of the show.
excited for the new season to begin & happy to have just read you'll be returning. was looking in to see when to expect RHONY 's Season 6. until then,, all of the best to you & yours ~ p.s. what a lovely blog, made me smile,, g'night ...
Carole I pray that you return for many seasons to come You are the only level headed person on this show
Carole...too bad about Russ he was such a doll. And might I suggest some braces...really those teeth take away from your beauty...just sayin!
Such a joy to watch you Carol!
Compared to the rest of the self centered, selfish, narcisstic women on there, you are the only one that seems down to earth and grounded and shows class, empathy and sympathy as well as wisdom in every eposide.
Aviva is a disgrace the way she rants and raves as is her old pervert father who shouldnt even be allowed to be on that show, He is a total disgrace, rude, crude and an old pervert.
Aviva and her father both desperately need help and I hope the shows producers acknowledge this and take them both off the show so we dont have to watch episode after episode with Aviva ranting and raving about how everyone should ne thankful for her presence and in every episode she is trying to making someoen apologize to her.
God Im so glad you are the rational, grounded one, with class and beauty. Its a joy to watch you
The show is a guilty pleasure for me and you are a class act, unlike the Countess who seems such a phony in comparison.
No matter how crazy the situation is around you, you always behave with grace.
Carole I do like you but don't you think you are taking political correctness a little far? Luanne referred to herself as American Indian and you took offense?! Are you Native American? It is my understanding that Luanne as a Native American, is entitled to refer to herself in any term she wishes.
At last some intelligent insight without having to wait for Andy at season's end. Now I can relax and enjoy the crazy behavior knowing that it will be labeled as such. Thanks Heather and Carol.
Love both you and Heather! You two are the only reason I started watching the show again. I hope you both come back next season.
Carol.... you are a pleasure to watch... you carry yourself and act like a REAL LADY and you should give lessons to Luann and Romona on how to act like one.
You and Aviva ar the ONLY ones that seem to know how to act like a real lady and know that
you dont have to be LOUD and mouthy and Bossy and bitchy to get attention like "someone" else or two on that show!
You are a real joy... DONT change... you dont have to be a "B___H" to stay on that show like
the rest of them!
Hey Carole, you were a nice change this season and i enjoyed watching you. After watching Alex, Jill and Kelly for so long it was refreshing to hear someone with something between their ears. I strongly disliked the way you called Luann a 'friend jumper' because she wore/borrowed clothes. Your friend is an adult and its up to them to choose whether or not Luann can wear their clothing. It's really not your business to get involved. I saw some contradictions in your behaviour - you claimed at the reunion that you never say nasty things about others yet when you went in to your room in St Barts you made an outburst about how annoying the other were and I think even used the term narcissism (accurate description but still mean). You corrected Luann for using the term 'social circle' yet didn't bother to invite all the women in St Barts out to dinner - instead chose to dine with another couple. I also get the impression that you only used to sow to promote your book and that you feel Housewives are beneath you. Given the behaviour of some of the morons on the show - you're probably right! I hope to see you back next season.
I am shocked that a woman who has been a journalist has so little knowledge and understanding of discrimination and sexual politics. The way you treated your women guests (apart from the one with a man) after Aviva's arrival was so sexist and unsophisticated. In any sophisticated and decent society women and men do not have to be in couples to go out to dinner - the whole group should have been invited to go to dinner before the concert. In what era do you live? The 1950s? For goodness sake, behave like a hostess at least, and make sure that all your guests are comfortable. Excluding people is a nasty little tactic, started by Heather, and is really unpleasant and smacks of the playground.
The other issue that demonstrated your inability to connect with an important issue was your behaviour during Ramona's charity event and comments afterwards. George is a really unpleasant man, who has been treated very well by Aviva's friends. Ramona, in particular , was a lively contributor to his welcome in an earlier episode. He bullied her at an event designed to raise the issue of aggression against women, even to the extent of physically abusing her. A grab at a woman's arm when you are in an argument with her, is abuse, Carole - read anything about violence against women (get an education on sexual discrimination, perhaps?). You confirmed George in his behaviour with your continuing support of him at a later event. i can understand that to diffuse the situation you walked out of Ramona's event with him, although he was being politely escorted by security. However, to compound the verbal and physical attack on her with your additional support was reprehensible.
Perhaps if you appear in the next series you can maintain your facade of decency and add variety to the show. Sorry, but you did lose your integrity this time, perhaps next time you might do better.
Sorry didn't like you, found you insincere and a very bad hostess....girls weekend means just that...guess in your world it means something else then.....oh wait and those crocodile tears at the restaurant just did it for me, then asking for a tissue from the waitress...oh PLEEEEEEassssssse....not forgetting nobody ran after you which upset you even more....sorry how old did you say you are 5!!
Hi from the UK! Loving series 5. Carole your a real inspiration, wish I was as cool as you! x
Carole at the beginning of this season I thought you were the only sensible one but no. You are just as bad. Why do you go around talking about other people to everyone. You should know better. Just because you are jealous of Luann does not mean she is bad. What is ring with luann telling you about her book when you spoke about your book. Grow up.
may i say thankyou for bringing such grounded ways to this series x i heart you x ramona is heart on sleave cool and mental haha but your immense x i write about dear things in my heart and i appreciate everything you have been through as i have had cancer cut out this year and as a single mum i cant get out much right now and seeing inspiring women like yourself makes me better already x put it on paper for sure xx rock on for sure x england loves ya x
First you should find the definition of ignorant. Secondly, opinions are like, well you know, everyone has one.
FABRAVOFAN The only thing "funny " and I don't mean "ha ha" is you. You are very ignorant. Carole is an award winning war corespondent. What have YOU done today? Maybe you should stick to the real classy shows like Jersey Shore.
FABRAVOFAN naomij Maybe you should look up the word ignorant. And then you should realize opinions are like, well you know, everyone has one.
Carol, living in Porto Cervo, Sardegna; does not allow me to watch your show as it airs, but my housekeepers always show me the interesting parts on Project Free TV. I must admit ,I have never seen such child like behavior from so many individuals. It is actually better then bran muffins to get things moving in the morning. I find you and Heather to be the only truthful individuals on the show. You always show your honesty and your integrity. I only watch the highlights that my housekeepers think I will enjoy, so from what I have seen, I do not comprehend why you want to be on this show! I take my hat off to you, because, you have the ability to put up with the likes of Ramona and Sonja who are pure trash and have the manners of a goat. Also, you have to deal with Luann who does not understand the moral virtue of honesty, for her the truth is something that does not exist. She lives in a fantasy world and tries to fool the public that she has an air of manners and class, which never seems to make an appearance in her personnel behavior. At least, she has dropped the Countess act! Please the family of her husband is only listed in the Encylope'die de la fausse noblesse et de la noblesse d'apparence and not the The Association de la Noblesse Française (ANF) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1932 and "reconnue d'utilité publique" in 1967. Its current president is the marquis de Vogüé. His title of count is of the lower level given for a service to the crown. Plus, she was the fourth wife, she needs to move on! As well as you do, stop wasting your time with these individuals who have no intellectual activity in their little minds. You are above this.........................
I love Robert Fulgham's quote..it is so accurate. I am childlike in my wonderment of the world and people but, not childish and irresponsible. You were one of my favorites because of your inner elegance but, also, because you are a writer, as am I. When I write, that is all I want to do is put words down to have my voice heard. I have used my experience raising 2 boys on my own to write a little humorous toolkit for single parents. When an online dating experience turned out to be a bucket of lies, well, I used that experience to write a fantastic script...Writing is my love, and painting but, it was nursing that kept food on the table. Stay around for another season..We all want to 'hear your voice'...
We fell in love with you Carole. I got your humor to the girls faces and the camera. Look at this trip as getting yourself out there and increasing your popularity as an author. I am buying your book. Come back next season, we need someone who is chill.
I liked the additions of you and Heather. However, I think you should make your comments to cast members' faces and not to the cameras after the fact. Most of your comments are really funny and some of them are very mean spirited (especially for Luan). Luan's not my fav, but not sure why you went on the attack with her. Anyway, you and Heather were both entertaining.
One comment about your blog though. It's easy to "dream big" when you come from money. I'm not bothered by other people's wealth (I am a strong supporter of capitalism), but sometimes I think maybe BRAVO has it backwards. Maybe the "most elite" should watch reality shows about how most of us live. I sometimes think people who have never had to worry about money (especially those who grow up with inherited wealth), have no idea what it's like when a person does have to worry about his/her financial future.
I hope you will return next season as I did enjoy your professionalism (most of the time), humor and emotional control.
Carole, It was so refreshing seeing someone so real! You seemed to articulate exactly what I was thinking all the time! Can't wait for next season.
I love the Robert Fulgham "tag"... that is a great book! I have enjoyed watching you the most this season. You made me laugh the most. Your take on things, your expressions, your remarks and your beliefs were all so refreshing. You definitely did NOT grow up in a fish bowl. As an army brat (Chaplain's Kid), I learned that a lot of people live with a "fish bowl" mentality. Everything in their world is SOOOO big and but the world outside is SOOOO much bigger. You get that. Hope to see you next season!
Hey Carole, Loved you this season, your interviews were side splittingly funny and spot on, especially about LuAnn. Ramona had been trying to articulate this for four years ! I love how you are able to keep cool with all the drama going on. I know some people think RHONY might be scripted or staged, but as a seasoned Expat I see this type of behaviour from women I meet from all over the world! You were right to call out LuAnn on her leeching ! Think you can handle another year of drama? ;-)
It was nice to see someone being so real. And I'm so glad you got to The Countess. She has her nose stuck up so high in the air. You and Cat O. both did good jobs with her. Hope you're coming back next season.
I am surprised you felt you made no mean comments during your interviews. Making subtle jokes about someone else is risky and never wise. In the long run if you made these snarky remarks of your real friends they would also be offended at some point. How can you not know that people are touchy about certain issues? Someone of your caliber can do better than resorting to passive aggressive comments. You surprised everyone!! No one knew you felt that way. Very sneaky and very safe for you to not say it nicely to their face. Hope this hits home for you.
Nightengale Carole only said what everyone thought. You can't handle the truth! Just ask Cat!
Hope to see you back next season, Carole..
Your clever comments elevated my guilty pleasure!
It has been nice getting to know you a little. Take it easy on the other ladies, they are eccentric to say the least but we enjoy them.
Love Love Love You.... I will miss you and your perfect sense of humor. Can't wait to hear and see you.
Carole - Your blogs were the best things about this season! Hope you come back next year~
One more observation (and then I really need to get a life) gained from watching tonight's episode of The Lost Footage.
Your abhorrence of The Countess calls to mind my good friend, Dr. Freud. The people we most vehemently dislike are those who bring a mirror upon us. I really think that your loathing of LuAnn revolves around all the issues that I think you consider yourself removed from: Class. Titles. The hierarchy of New York society. LuAnn kicks these Whartonian themes to the surface of your Downtown swimming pools. In the big scheme of things, she's a messenger, not an enemy.
And now, I need to go read some Proust.
You're a smartiepants. Enjoyed your insight!
And now, I'm off to get a life...
OR to work on my Ramsonja halloween costume.
I'm wearing bug-eyes, a strapless blue dress, and a french pirate attached to my butt.
Just kidding about dressing up. But, like you, I did get a kick out of the visual ;-}
@monkeyzetterland I'll take your writings over Carole any day. Your observation are spot on and enjoyable to ponder.
monkeyzetterland Hmmm.... a very insightful comment. Luann is wallowing in her claim to nobility while Carole has chosen to not let a royal title define her.
I must confess... as someone who has neither inherited wealth or title, I was also turned off by Luann's tendencies to 'lord' over others about manners, elegance, suck all the air out of a room, etc. So I thoroughly enjoyed Carole calling Lulu out on her social climbing ways. Particularly the asides where Carole said things like "yeah, I like British accents... on British people!". Hysterical.
Luann had plenty of opportunities to behave normally but she ignored Ramona and the other plebeians who dared to confront her about her condescending ways. So, it's my point of view that Luann drove past all the warning signs (opportunities to address her behavior) until she ran smack into a Princess who told her what Luann must sense deep down. That she's not "all that special". After all, why else would someone try to project an image of being better than others? Because deep down there is some sense or feeling of inadequacy. She couldn't just be herself..... dahling. Remember the episode where she had to correct the way Bethenny introduced her to the chauffeur? Bethenny had made the social faux pas of introducing Luann to the chauffeur by first name. The horror. When Bethenny didn't understand Luann's attempt to correct her on 'manners' Luann just wrote it Bethenny off as another commoner who just didn't understand.
Luann continued with her classicist ways and was offended only when A PRINCESS let her know that she had overstepped her bounds. She was offended that someone told her that she was not in the same league as the First Lady of the United States. Of course, as you said, Carole is offended because she would not allow herself to take advantage of a situation and sees Luann as someone who does just that.
It seems to me that Luann has met her nemesis in Carole. Luann, who feels she is entitled because of a title, and Carole who wants to earn her way despite a title.
Florida_Gal monkeyzetterland Good point - and I agree with you that LuLu met her match in Carol. What? Downtown aristocracy who admits that she takes the subway? Dahhhhhhling. But I guess my point was that Lulu's snobbery, which I believe stems from ignorance and insecurity, not malevolence, really brought Carol's bad side to the surface. I loved it in London when she challenged her on the one-upping in a humorous and antagonistic way, but then - with her fashion designer friend - she really stooped low (and dahhling, you can always stoop to pick up nothing) by resorting to petty name-calling, and high-school level bitchiness. It was beneath her. She should check herself when she gets into Mean Sprited LuLu bashing and always keep it funny (like when she became that Kristin Wiig character on SNL who says things like, 'Yeah, I did that first. Yeah, I know all about that. Yeah, I invented it.")
monkeyzetterland I wish I had joined this blog earlier - your comments are terrific. I'll look out for them next series. Thank you for great insights - in short bursts! Mine are a bit lengthy!!!
