Well, right out-of-the-box Andy asks us how we feel when we knew there were new girls. Of course I said I was worried, because it took a long time to get the girls up to speed, and of course they were very gracious when we agree to so much and because we are the veterans.
When my fellow 'Wives do well, I do well. I know LuAnn must've missed her brunette couch, but funny how she and Ramona had a chance to get to know each other this season in a new way. If you can't beat 'em, join them! With this group, you can't run the other way, however, some people never take no for an answer!
First up, we have LuAnn saying Carole's strategy is to just talk behind everyone's back in her interviews but not on camera when we're together and interacting. I have to say I was very surprised to see some of the comments that she made when she wielded her trusty pen. Carole wrote and said things in her interviews that did not match the face that she showed us while filming. That can be hurtful and leaves you defenseless on camera. We don't see what's filmed until you see it, and then it’s too late.
The reunions are wonderful, but we film for hours and they only use two 45-minute segments. There is always more than meets the eye when you first make new friends.
On another note, it's been brought to my attention that there is an Institute for American Indian Studies in Connecticut as well as the National Museum of the American Indian in both Washington D.C. and New York City. So I have to say I'm feeling archaic as a museum and ignorant as well! I need to still understand what Carole's trying to teach us and why it needs to be brought up among friends at dinner over a bottle of wine. I do like that Lu admits that she made her comments to get on Radzi's nerves. Fair enough! I like that Radzi voiced her opinions when it comes to Ranjana, because she is entitled to her feelings -- those are her dear friends. However, she says she doesn't borrow their clothes, but I do know she wore some Ranjana's jewelry and a dress that Ranjana made her.
Hey Sonja, We are from Edinburgh in Scotland and we think you are a hoot. You can come party with us anytime you visit Edinburgh. You are a very intelligent woman, very insightful and compassionate...when the real you comes out you are so bright and warm..Soooo sorry your having terrible troubles with your ex husband. The whole world knows about his family and the devastation caused with banking collapse and effects on normal people. Guess you and your daughter fit this group of sub normals in his eyes too. Love is blind Sonja and you can do better...keep yourself safe, look after yourself and your daughter. Hope you get some closure on this...what a nasty man he is. He may have friends in high places...but the whole world is waiting for the bankers demise....karma is a bitch. Ever thought of going into politics? Your and intelligent woman....use your head, not your heart!! all the best my love, good luck, from us girls in Edinburgh.....p,s keep away from Aviva...she;s nasty narcissist and her dad!xxx
I LOVE SONJA!!!! She's the best housewife on the BRAVO network!!! Her and Ramona are awesome and fun!!! Keep LuAnn, Sonja and Ramona.
Hang in there Sonja! Everyone goes through s-it one time or another!! Don't let that stuck up millionaire Aviva, who thinks the world should bow down to her, ruin your day. You are a sweet and kind person!!
Sonja -- your dress was amazing on the Reunion show. One of the prettiest I've seen! You looked amazing!
Good God, Woman! Bringing out the fan's work was the straw that proved the degree to which you are delusional. The point all along was to get you doing your Thaing, whatever that may be. You thought you'd prove yet another point? Well, guess what, we are done with you. Done.Done. Done.
You are sadly a disaster this season. You used to be my favorite and now I actually cringe when you get air time. You are rude and entitled. How you handled Heather was horrible. I wouldn't buy your toaster oven if it was the last one on the shelf in the country. I'm not holding my breath that it will even make it in the box. I want the old Sonja back but don't think she will ever appear with Ramona so closely involved in your life.
My heart went out to you about Milo i too have a maxi and i would not know what my life would be like without him he has been through so much with me and his unconditional love keeps me going he is the son i never had so i get how you feel and my heart hurt listening to your pain...People dont get it unless they have a little furbaby ...God bless you and i hope you get through your pain
I think you are a very pretty lady, but you have to stop doing "duck face"! It is so unattractive.
You say you want to be a good mom, but your behavior is not that of a good mom.
Getting naked on TV and screwing a kid half your age is NOT the actions of a good mother.
I don't think you are going to get what you think you deserve from your ex, I hope your Sonja "empire" does well.
Oh, and I meant to add, that the individual interviews are all laced with comments about the other housewives. Why you chose to single Carole out to criticize for doing what everyone else does, was strange, in the least, and unfair in the most.
And, where else would a sensitive subject be brought up if not with friends over wine?
Carole is so very bright, that I think many of her comments were lost in translation. Pity, they were great. I read many of the comments here and one word kept appearing--entitlement. I must admit it crossed my mind as well. I think you have some wonderful opportunities and ideas and hope that you take the plunge and just go for them. It strikes me as the very best thing for your situation. Perhaps less time playing with Ramona and more time working on your projects would serve you well. I do hope you consider those. I don't see Ramona as a good influence for you. In the past, listening to her has gotten you into hot water. Please do consider.
On the issue of Native Americans verses Indians: I am an anthropologist and feel informed enough to address this issue. Native American has been the appropriate term for decades. Indian is not. LuAnn acted inappropriately when asked about her comments, by Carole. Carole was right. I found it surprising that LuAnn did not know the difference in the terms people use. And then, to follow up that discussion with movie-style whoops was so inappropriate. Respect is the word of the day in these matters. Carole tried to explain that. It surprised me that she was the one to do it and not LuAnn who, as it turned out, looked the fool.
You use the term "friend" so loosely. "Friends" don't treat each other the way you treated Heather. How generous of Heather to donate her time and resources for your benefit. I can't understand how you call Heather your "friend", and diminish her generosity behind her back. Who raised you? Did the person(s) that brought you up instill in you any sort or moral compass or better yet social graces? Or, was it acceptable in your house hold to be self-centered and ungrateful? What a poor example to set for your child. The behavior you displayed was petulant and tacky. Where's your gratitude? I'm sure Heather learned a very valuable lesson in dealing with you... you my dear are a taker, not a maker. You should donate what it would have cost, had you paid Heather and her team, to Heather's charity. That would be a start in the right direction. On a side note, you should've never agreed to "plan" Aviva's party. How embarrassing. Maybe you have a "friend" in the event planning field that would be willing to take you under their wing. (It certainly wouldn't hurt) Remember to be grateful this time around, or PAY.
You are awesome ! Loving ,fun , real friend to Ramona! Wishing you well in the future. Don't ever become an Aviva! Life is too short ,lets live to the fullest!
sonja stay away from Ramona's opinion you have more empathy then her and she will only drag you down. Don't get me wrong but something is not right with Ramona I liker her but this season she was to much! And a bit cold to Aviva! Sonja help her see the light stay fair and not phony or shut up Riomona. You are much nicer then what we see Sonja so let us see it nex season
Sonja, don't let Luann pull the wool over your eyes. She is not your friend. She is a phony and a fake, not to mention big time liar.
sonja,,, love you, feel sad for you ,,,,, but youll land on your feet,,,, ill bet anything,,, hang in there
sonja, i love your honesty, your bluntness, your courage to be yourself. you are awesome and i wish you the best. forget these idiots who criticize. you don't apologize for who you are and i think you are delightful.
amelia1008 actually I watched the past seasons this weekend (I came late to the show) and have had enough of Sonjas self involvement, ee gad's.
When she was at the gay marriage equality rally and said "this is my moment!" that was it for me.
How after being called out on this entitlement stuff for so many seasons and see it or try to alter or become more self aware and appalled at viewing herself- is just beyond.
She seems to think she has the wit of May West- hardly....
Door men, dry cleaners, Cipriani, all kinds of establishments and areas in the city must dread seeing her coming w/ all her silly demands.
She is someone to watch though in the way that teaches us things about ourselves and what NOT to ever get caught doing!
I am sorry that you seem to be going through a nasty divorce, but in all honesty, you drink way too much and assume way too much. You took advantage of Heather and assumed you were entitled to more from her when she was giving of her time. Get in the real world, work for a living like many others do. I don't just mean party planning which you are not so hot at.
i was not going to post on your blog like i did the others, but then i read it, and i actually kinda of like how you came across, and how you broke it all down.. however, in the reunion, you were making "duck face" all night.. it was obnoxious. you are a beautiful woman, and i am sure a lot of people see that... but when you do that thing with your lips.. you just come across as obsessed with yourself. drop that tick and live the way you write/think. because that sounds real.. the night in miami at dinner with avivas fam, when you were wearing red, you acted real.. when you get buddy buddy with ramona.. you do change, and it is not for the better, and i do believe she does encourage it.
amina.lorene lol you are that worked up because you thought she was making a 'duck face'? geez bro. thats a ridiculous thing to judge someone on.
Sonja you are great and I hope everything with your finances etc is going in your favor. But honestly how much longer will we have to wait on the toaster over?! Come on sweetie your fans are tired of waiting. Stop being so wishy washy and not completing what you start. Heather helped you (which you barelyd acknowledge) so please use what was given and get your product out there so you can make some money. Please ignore Aviva I hope she doesnt return to the show she is crazy and needs a lot of help. As for Carole she is a back stabber and I hope she doesnt come back to the show either.
Sonja you are the bomb! You are beautiful and a great friend. You are fun and I love you and Ramona together. I feel like I'm back in college when I watch you girls together on your trip - kind of like spring break all over again!! Don't let money and divorce and all of that crap get you down - you should tell them all to go to hell and not look back. Your strong and smart and you will land on your feet no matter what. Looking forward to seeing you next season being crazy with Ramona again!
Love you Sonja, and you and Ramona are so much fun to watch. I can't say the same thing about Luann and wonder why you are always taking up for her? She is always a big fat phony who puts herself above all of you. Hope if there is another year of HW that you and Ramona make it back but I can do without Luann and Aviva.
I don't think I've ever actually posted on a reality star's blog before ( felt the need to), but something has been nagging at me for some time now.
I would like to state right out of the gate, since you've come on the show I can't say I felt strongly about you either in a negative or positive way. I sympathized with your money problems and problems with your ex-husband. I've never really loved nor hated you. And of course I do not know you out of context of this show or in any form in the real world.
But my reason for writing this is, at the Reunion show, and sometimes while filming, you out right invalidated or made light or fun of Aviva's phobia and anxieties. Opening up about those sort of things, in any capacity, in any respect, in any forum is putting the person in a vunerable position. Like how I feel about you, I don't feel particularlly here or there about Ms. Dresher. And like with you, I can sympathize on certain things. In this case with her, it's her anxieties and phobias. You are privileged enough to not have these problems. But as a human, who touts themselves as being so compassionate, so charitable, in regard to someone's struggles with mental illness you seem cold, lacking compassion, lacking any sort of understanding, and horribly insensitive. It didn't shock me per say. I am not shocked anymore by these qualities in people. But I have run out of patience for it. And if you do know, or have a person in your life who suffers from some sort of mental illness, to any degree, I would expect even more of you, since you should then understand how painful these valid, real medical conditions are.
spookykatz Well put! I love you, Sonja, but Aviva has some very serious medical (mental illness) issues to deal with every day of her life. And, I don't know, but I do suspect Aviva may very well be on meds for her conditions, thereby, her apologies may not appear heartfelt; just say'n.
Aviva opened up way too much and many times too often about her countless phobias. At some point, it became clear that they are a device to focus attention on herself. Apart from repeating-endlessly-her snits with Ramona, her phobias and fears seemed to be her only conversation. I stay far far away from people like that, and dont blame the women for getting their fill of it and saying so.
One hopes it will do her some good, to be told plainly that her phobias aren't fascinating and she needs to develop some conversation other than constantly referencing the many things she's afraid of.
As regards Sonja's 'lack of compassion,' Aviva tore into Sonja in the nastiest way, several times. I personally have never been attacked by a social acquaintance like that, but I guarantee you I wouldnt be stopping to consider the attacker's phobias before responding.
I hope Aviva will be back for S6, and I hope in the meantime, she develops an ability to edit herself. When asked about her parents' sex life...she should have replied, that wasnt something we discussed. Period.
Love you SONJA!!! You are the are the show for me. I would love to read a memoir of your life so far. Write about your childhood, 1st, 2nd, and etc., chapters of your life, then in 10 years write about the new chapter of your life you are about to embark on, I'm sure it is the best yet. You have so much love for your daughter and you are so talented. I find that you build up those that you love and trust, and it is too bad that some of the houseiwives have wasted time and energy trying to knock you down! Best wishes, xx
May i just say that you were my favorite this season, i cant tell you how many times i've watched the scene in St. Barth's were you say something like "Im too afraid to go outside and get more wine, Im drinking your wine!" then you go on and say you'll go out and "pet her, thats what I do with you I pet you and you still wake up all pissed off!" OMG that was television GOLD! Love, Love, Love it! Then you guys google white trash! hilarious absolutely comical, you couldnt make that stuff up! You and Ramona together in St. Barths just too funny! The only thing that bothered me a bit was you and the branding thing (but maybe heather deserves it for being so unexpectedly mean to lulu-totally unexpected). love you and ramona on RHONY i hope theres another season with you guys .
"High Profile" Luann is not, the only thing Luann is famous for here is "housewives" and that show doesn't make you important. I think she has you convinced she is important! LMAO! I love you Sonja but don't put yourself in the same class....you're way above that.
I like you, I don’t like you, and I like you. I go back and forth with you girl! However, the way you handled yourself at lunch with Aviva was commendable. And even when she was attacking you in the kitchen at St. Barth’s! She has issues related to her phobias and I suspect her upbringing. Her rants are clearly projections of what she has been holding in because what she witnessed in her parents behavior. “You’re disgusting” “you drink too much” “you’re indefensible.” These are hate-filled words one would say to an alcoholic parent and/or philandering father (he is so gross). She has been holding in these feeling for many, many years and takes them out on other women, which explains why she has no friends. Ramona was spot on…she needs a new therapist.
I truly loved it when you said something like “I need people around me who will support me and help me, not people who will kick me when I’m already down.” Isn’t that true for all women?
Best of everything to you and your daughter!
Ms Bravo!!!! thanks for this!
Sonja --- I feel the SAME WAY --- don't like you,,,then I like you, then I don't, then I do...it's like pulling petals off a daisy, lol.
Wish you'd be consistent, so I can remain with "I like you"! For instance, Heather, her team + the non-existent toaster oven. Please, please, offer Heather a sincere thank you once and for all? I saw a preview for Reunion pt. 2, where you are displaying samples from viewers...hmmm so things don't appear to be heading towards you being grateful to Heather.
Hope I'm mistaken...
I think this season showed more of you then any other season. I feel like we got to see good and bad things play out that involved you which never really happened before. There were things this season that i agreed with and things this season that I did not agree with.
I thought that in St. Barths you were absolutely right and right now you are absolutely right to forgive Aviva but not forget. I think you and Ramona make a good point about the fact that not only was Aviva rude and cruel to you both filming the show but she continued her meanness on her blogs, Twitter and WWHL all throughout the play out of the season as well as right up to the reunion and her 'apology'. She didn't just suddenly have an epiphany, she realized she was being viewed negatively.
I don't think that you should have been that hard on Carole. I don't believe that she was mean or malicious behind the scenes to anyone. I think that she was truly entertained as well as the viewers and I think that everyone is more angry at the fact that she didn't take it as seriously as everyone else did. I think that her laid back attitude is being mistaken as not taking a stance and that she just tries to rationalize situations rather than blow up and be dramatic.
I thought that you were in the wrong with the whole Heather situation too. I think that Heather was being a good friend and offered her services to you. I agree that she should take your opinion and thoughts into consideration but at the same time, she did a lot for you on her time and money. I think that you felt that she was taking advantage of you when she was just in business mode and wasn't sugar coating anything that she was feeling. I think that there was a lot of miscommunication and also a lot of indecisiveness on your part which led to confusion. I thought it was wrong of you to bring Ramona into the situation and I think that you led her to believe that Heather was taking advantage of you which created more tension and issues between them which was unnecessary. And I do honestly believe that you felt entitled which was unfortunate for your friendship with Heather.
I realize that this was a tough season for you but I do feel that Heather is a good friend and I think sitting down and talking rationally about the situation with the toaster oven would be more beneficial then being so defensive. She did you favor so at least owe her the favor of being more understanding and seeing her point of view too.
j1217 I agree w/nearly every word of your post. So well done. One point of confusion though:
"I think that you (Sonja) felt that she (Heather) was taking advantage of you when she was just in business mode..."
I"m racking my brain to think of a scenario or way that Heather, if she'd wanted to, could have 'taken advantage' of Sonja in the process of doing free work on her toaster over box/ad campaign/publicity work? What could she POSSIBLY have stood to gain, much less taken advantage of Sonja to achieve by anything she did for/with Sonja? The only thing I can think of is another successful campaign for her portfolio, and good word of mouth for her reputation and business.
I'm just curious re: your thoughts while writing this part of your comment. As I noted earlier, I think your comment perfectly summed up Sonja in part one of the reunion (and the events of the season).
@Milica ....You obviously are not a fan of Sonja. Sonja supported herself before and after her married life, so I don't think you should criticize her for not having business sense or hard work, these are subjects no one really knows about for a fact, especially when comparing her with Aviva. We all have our faults, yet this comment sounds like you have it out for Sonja, and life should not be filled with such negativity.
I hope you don't get a dime from your ex husband. Then you will know what it is like to live in the REAL world...... ;-)
I can't believe Sonja had the nerve to say "I work hard" in part 2 of the reunion. If the preview's correct, I heard Heather reply "you wouldn't know hard work if it slapped you in the face". I adore Heather, she has impeccable timing.
Beyoncca Sonja did work and was a success long before she was married. She did very well, according to Ramona who has known her for 20 years. Heather like many others have no idea what Sonja did or how hard she worked. Heather can be very self righteous.
Why do you find it necessary to put on fake accents when you are talking about someone? In St. Barth's you put on the fake French accent when you talked to your friend Carol and on the reunion show you put on a fake accent when you said something about Rajana. What's up with that Sonja? Just saying!!
@cindy1963 Thank you! Someone else noticed it! Hahaha, while I was watching the St. Barths episodes I kept thinking to myself "why is Sonja talking with an accent all of a sudden!" it was so weird! Even when she was talking to the staff at the house and the whole time she was talking to Thomas she was doing a weird fake accent. Just strange.
LOVE how FAIR you are! This is what makes this show awesome! You don't pick "teams" this year. You look at everything and be fair with everyone.
I also liked seeing Luann have FUN on vacation. I hope you will be a true friend to her and encourage her NOT to fight with people on the show. She doesn't do it well and really the true appeal of Luann is her having fun and not being dramatic haughty countess.
I am hoping you will see the truth of the Heather/toasteroven issue. I think you two just totally saw this whole thing differently. Heather thought she was doing a friend a favor on her dime and you thought you were doing a business deal with them and they left you a bit high and dry.
I know you can't control what you do on a reunion you already filmed but I hope when you blog about it you LET IT GO! Say THANK YOU and mean it for what she tried to do to help you and stop the chatter about all the things you should've gotten. Nobody understands it. Even if you are right, nobody understands it, just say thanks to her and let it go!
Sonja, you and Ramona are quite the dastardly duo…I think your both hilarious to watch. I love your mischievous antics…this is what makes good Reality TV. I was touched to see and hear the heartbreak you have felt over your marriage and all I can say is that you are a survivor with some good friends so don't feel down. You will find your groove and prosper in the face of adversity. I have to also say that I was happy to see you get some good lovin' from that cute French man cause you deserve it baby!! Let me tell you just cause a woman is over 40 doesn't mean that she has to give up a healthy sex life or diminish her sexual appetite. Aviva was wrong to cast judgment on you, I found her words offensive. I was impressed to see you give it right back to her and then some. You may look beautiful and vulnerable to some but just look at your feline features……your a tigress, not afraid to go head to head and defend yourself when insulted.
Sonja you ARE money baby!!
Love ya girl. Your why we turn on the television. We want to be entertained. Bravo usually gets it right. Stil lthere's hits & misses. Aviva was for sure a miss.
If I were going on a 'girls only' vacation, there is no doubt that you and Ramona would be the two I would choose to invite! I don't care what anybody says, you are hilarious, spontaneous & crazy fun. Vacation is supposed to be a break from your daily life. I will probably get chewed alive by some on here but that's okay.
Thanks for all of the great laughs this season! It was such a refreshing change from all of the drama & fighting.
Wow Sonja...hiring all those Interns that work for you for free is really, really sad. You've explained your financial situation several times on the show but you must get a salary that would enable you to pay THE HELP some money!
Renae7 OMG! Sonja has explained that Milsaps is the daughter of a friend who wanted to spend time in NYC. Other inters likewise. Sonja offers her home, supervision and a opportunity for Milsaps to learn skills of being an assistant. At her age Milsaps in fortunate to be able to live in NYC when she otherwise would not be able to afford it. Would you rather Millsaps move in and mooch giving nothign in return?.
Sometimes these comments are so judgmental without knowing facts.
Your awesome and make me laugh- If I was invited to hang out with you guys I would choose you and Ramona-- Keep laughing and enjoy life-- as it is too short!!!!!! BTW you are one stunning lady
Sonja, thank you for being so delightful. I love your style. I know I will end up owning your toaster oven. I hope it will be featured in an episode of The Real Housewives of Vestavia Hills (Alabama), a proposed addition to Andy Cohen's The Real Housewives franchise. I will be the Housewife that has a job. Count me in as a fan!
