Season 4
Season 3
Season 2
Season 1
Amazing that Carole has been working on her current book for four years but these things don't happen overnight. I feel like I'm giving birth to the toaster oven just as Carole says she thinks she's giving birth to her book!
I've been working on my toaster oven, and my cookbook for two years now. Reworking and tweaking both. If you really want to give something your best, it takes time and patience. With my movie production company, I produced an award-winning, seven-million-dollar film starring Forest Whitaker and Gabrielle Anwar, and had a slate of four more films, but was moving too fast. I got caught in the wake of that ship and it sailed!
At the same time I work on my current businesses, I still enjoy my life and my time with my daughter, family, and friends. Kids, they grow so fast, and I don't want any regrets! I loved producing movies and now I love cooking in the toaster oven for folks and my catering business is a joy, but I also live for my family and friends. So everything has to groove together. I have seen at my age how quickly life can end and how little money can do about that.
Ramona and I always get ready together! It's no big deal. I'm in France now as I write. I have my own room, but I'm always in my girlfriend Carol's room. It's her house, and she's my best friend. We are like sisters, so we want to be together before going out -- giggling and having a good time.
I think you are so funny and so much fun to watch! your own show on Bravo would thrive because you are like a breath of fresh air to reality tv. Definately an individual amongst the rest!
Dear Sonja, You are a true gem. Yes, you are still sparkling with wit, style, and that gorgeous smile. That being said, I feel like an upset Mother, or best friend, which by the way, is what Ramona is. She truly cares about you being happy and successful! Heather should respect that! I am perturbed with what I saw on your show in regards to Heather and her team, so here's my opinion, for what it is worth: 1. On national TV she states you are not paying, how tacky, gauche, and graceless! She mentioned how busy she is and noted her charities as one of her preoccupations that takes up part of her time, (brag #2 in the first page of her blog). If she needs to announce it to everyone, well then, ta daa!!! There's her reward. A proverbial pat on the back! All Heather has been doing is to try and convince you that her ideas are best, and when you disagree with her, she goes around the corner to complain to Luann, or complains in her talking head interview, saying things like, "Oh such a hastle, I feel like I want to break up with Sonja!" That would be called gossip, and I don't like it! 2. I also, did not like the fact that she had gotten into the ear of her graphic artist about Ramona, and how the meeting was fruitless. Hey, she needs to "get" that Ramona truly cares about your success, and not in a big fake smile sort of way! (Sorry, that was below the belt, Heather's smile is lovely, yet she can really come off as a fake!) To add to that, the chuckling and patronizing from her graphic guy, was very rude and arrogant! By the way, has he even looked up your website yet? The vision for your brand is in your website, in your sense of humor, sense of style, and attitude, for all to see, if one does thier homework for their CLIENT! 3. Last but not least, Luann??? She took one look at the picture of the muscle man hugging the oven, smiled, dutifully sighed love it! Yet, she didn't have a clue what she was looking for even if it had been right on her nose. She was asked to the meeting to say, "yes Heather, I love your ideas, Heather, I'm the worlds best cheerleader Heather!" (You know the kind that can't jump, back flip, or dance, they just shout "YEA team, RAH, RAH, RAH, and do what they are told!) I am not against cheerleaders, I am very fond of them, every Mother becomes a professional cheerleader at some time or another! Seriouly though Sonja, I wish you the best of luck. I am axiously awaiting your book and all of your products, you have great taste! BTW, your people skills out shine Heather's, and you have so much experience working with people, I wish she would verbally recognize that fact, while she is bragging about doing you a favor. With much love, from a true Sonja fan,xx
i just watched the episode with the brand meeting with Heather and I agree with you that their logos were not good, The stick lady looked like a play off off Skinny Girl and was not original. Your persona on the show is of a glamorous wordly fun loving lady, so thats what your brand needs to evoke. Toaster ovens are not just a kitchen appliance but somethng that all glamerous women (or those that aspire to be) must have. It should be the next shabby chic thing to have. I'm seeing you in a gown with long gloves baking something tasty. Don't let Heather steam roll you she is only trying to self promote herself and not you! This needs to work for you!
I just finished watching tonight's episode, and I have to say, I just think you're a wonderful woman. TRHONY doesn't show you with your proverbial gears grinding too often, but when they do, a lot of good stuff comes forth. Keep on questioning. I don't really care for Heather and her "friendly favors", as I'm sure it will end up costing you more than if you had hired someone, plus, she gives the impression she's helping a "poor relation". ISH, that's so classless. Someone doing you a real favor wouldn't even have brought up (on national television, no less) the fact that they're doing that favor for free. Stay strong with your OWN opinions and ideas, in the end, you know you best and you know what you want. I also love how you stay kind of like Switzerland, but with a language most everyone can understand. Keep on!!!
Hey Sonja,
Your blog this time is a mess . That said, the way you handled that oversexed, old coot, was masterful. You bobbed and weaved like a prize fighter to avoid his distasteful advances. You could probably write a woman's guide book called, "The Artful Dodger to Uncool Losers".
Interesting you didn't discuss how rude Ramona was to Aviva, or how Aviva asked your advice on how to approach an obnoxious Ramona. I would be weary about aligning yourself too closely with Ramona...she is becoming intolerable on the show.
I would buy a book (with lots of glossy pics of her house and garden) from Sonja on her house/ decorating and gardening in a NY minute. Or beauty secrets/dieting and exercise. She looks amazing.
Love you Sonja, and I think you handled George very well. You were very gracious, and he was disgusting, what the heck was on Aviva's mind to even think in hook you up with him?
I researched Sonj's ex-husband and for those who don't know he is keep reading...Sonja was once married to John Adams Morgan, a great-great grandson of the American Gilded Age financier John Pierpont Morgan (aka J.P. on the street). Sonja’s ex is also a great-great-great grandson of John Adams on his mother Catherine’s side. The heavy stench of history must have been great in that house, but the money must have run like water.
Sonja is having to declare bankruptcy because her ex refuses to make the payments to Sonja that was awarded to her in court. She may have to sell her only home. What a dirtbag he is!!!! If you watched the London episode you saw that Sonja's net on her hat had holes in it and that the blue dress she wears with the feathers across the top, will not zip all the way up as it doesn't fit her and she cannot affort to purchase new clothes that fit. Thank goodness Ramona helped her to get on the show so she could make some money and therefore ALSO get her business off the ground. For anyone who has started their own business you know it's a very expensive venture.
catherinefriemel.kennedy He should be ashamed of himself.. what a jerk.. no matter what happens between 2 people they have a child dont they. He should be thrown in jail....
Interesting perspective; I knew he was supposed to be one "those" Morgans,, but nothing else. I think sometimes the people who have deep pockets know if they can pay large attorney fees, they can just wait an opponent out. The other side either runs out of money or dies before they get what they're entitled to. If that's the case, then how sad he's allowed to get away with it; even sadder that he would want to when it would be easier to just pay what he owes.
@catherinefriemel.kennedy Oh, thst is hilarious! POOR Sonja...the net on her hat has holes and she has "feather" issues as well! Someone should start a charity to help this poor woman! Funiest comment ever!
What exactly is going on between you and Ramona? You said the handle in the shower broke when Ramona joined you in the shower. Ramona told her husband that you would be joining them in bed that night -- nothing was going to happen-- and he was welcome to take your bed. You kept referring to you and Ramona as girls. Eye opener! The two of you are women over 50 with teenage daughters. Maybe I've lived a sheltered dull life, but I don't believe that behavior is appropriate for women your age. As for George, you handled yourself quite well, but you should have told him that you did not appreciate his advances which well crossed the line of sexual harassment. I am glad the two of you women have fun together.
viewer1126 they were kidding..................... so what if they are over 50 you dont die , you can still act like a kid.... I have a long time friend and we act goofing at times... get over it..... wait till you are 50 if you are now you need to lighten up..
Sonja, I love you! But I have to say, since none of the HW has, including you: George is DISGUSTING!!!!!! What a dirty old man! Inappropriate, out of control, rude and absolutely vomit-inducing! I am SO glad you did not hit it off. :)
Sonja, I like you....alot. I need a new toaster oven and I'm holding out until yours comes on the market and I'll buy the cookbook, too. I find you a joy to watch and I get a few chuckles.
Sonia,
The show is nothing without you! I don't know why Aviva thought her deviant father would be a suitable match for you, he's an obtrusive troll! I think you were more than kind, you don't need
anyone to fix you up with men, you're very attractive and lots of fun!
Sonja, I agree with the poster about you constantly name dropping. and I have to wonder how much truth that is. To me it looks like you're trying to impress everyone all the time., which it does every eppy...almost every eppy. To me it's a turn off.
Sometimes I have to wonder if what you're saying is true or not.
randrew I dont see that out of her.. she just knows these people... The Countless on the other hand is the name dropper...
First of all Sonja, I don't think I heard anyone complaining about not being invited to Miami. And your remarks about being selective in who you invite to different parties or trips made me laugh because Ramona wouldn't be on anyone's guest if that were the case. She was nothing short of the worst houseguest ever imagined. I don't how you would defend her behavior on the whole trip. Aviva was beyond patient with her. She was a total embarrassment to herself and others. I thought you and Ramona were acting childish and rude when you kicked Aviva out of her own bathroom. You and Ramona together are a classless duo. She brings out the worst in you. On the London trip you were a totally different person....someone I liked a lot more.
Not sure what you see in Ramona. It seems like a fun time when you guys are giggling and getting ready in the bathroom together - I kind of get that - but eventually you have to leave the bathroom... she never seems like as much fun then. Please don't get in the habit of making too many excuses for her bad bahavior. It's okay to admit it when her behavior is inappropriate without putting it all down to "that's Ramona".
When is the toaster oven making it's appearance?
I was glad to see you acted like a lady around George. He really was a pig and had no charisma or class. I know you can do better than him. You should just thank Aviva for thinking of you but tell her that you are not interested. I am sad to see that you are beginning to act like Ramona. Stay cool and classy. Ramona has no class and hopefully will be gone soon from RHONY.
Sometimes you are really over the top but I felt bad for you this week just thinking that Aviva thought you and her father were a good match. I could see you were very uncomfortble with him and truly he is dirty old man. I would be really upset with Aviva. Leave the old geazer in Florida.
Dear Sonja, I love watching you on the show. I totally get your toaster oven book. I don't like to cook, but I do need to once in a while. I got excited about cooking with the idea of you teaching me how, with your sparkling wit. I am interested in all of the people you've met and the places you have been. I was looking forward to a book with everything Sonja, all put together. I truly wish that the show would not of put in the tiff with Heather's graphic design friend and you. I don't like seeing the fun, patient and loving Sonja with her much anticipated book mixed up with a drama filled scene on rhony. With that example, there are times that I wish you were on a different show, one that doesn't feed off of editing the most dramatic, petty fights between women possible. But a show that would showcase your wit, and life experiences! I would also like to add that IMHO, many are saying that Ramona makes you look bad, but I disagree. First, I get the bathroom scene, it looks fun and I've been there. Second, part of your charm is that you have patience for people that may be at times trying and obnoxious, yet if they have a good heart, you tolerate them to enjoy their good qualities. Your high tolerance level of people is part of the delightful quality you have for the love for people, don't ever change that. You could however, mention to Ramona that she could tone it down for the camera. I don't like it when housewives that have been on for a few years need to keep upping the anti of thier escapades and antics. No need to set or have precidences. Just live and be yourself, and if you are truly entertaining you will have no problem, and if your find that you are not, then don't sell yourself short by being to loud or too problamatic for attention, that will not get you anywhere. The old saying of any attention is good attention with media and press, well, it is not true when it comes to a Bravo housewife! Too, much gets you sacked!!!
Sonja, you are a riot! But, I don't understand why you weren't interested in George. Honestly, he looks better than your last husband! He was vivacious and charming...just like you. I thought you would be a match made in Heaven!
Sonja I have found you more enjoyable this season than last season when all you were was Ramona's sidekick, and seemed like you adopted her negative and uncooth behavior.. I sure hope we are not subjected to that again. So far this season you have been funny and polite and entertaining to watch Just like your first year on the show.I am enjoying your interaction with the new ladies and also nice to see you being friends with Luann again because last year it felt like you threw her under the Ramona Coaster and didn't act like much of a friend.
Oh. My. Goodness! I felt like my brain was about to implode reading this weeks blog! Stay on one track then ease into another, you are all over the place.
Also, enough with the name/ place dropping, t does not show you in a good light.
I'll never get the image of you birthing a toaster oven out of my head now. Thanks! :D
Sonja, in general i really do like you. But please get over yourself - all the name dropping, the "i'm here, there, and everywhere, dropping." It sounds so fake and at the same time you want everyone to feel like you're down to earth. You have to be open minded and willing to listen to professionals like Heather and not second guess them or try and sabotage their efforts. And remember, your behavior with Ramona reflects on you...and not well. Good luck with your new business!
@jbinthecity You nailed it!
Hi Sonja,
I just wanted to let you know that you're my FAVE! I love how you let things roll off your back...and that you handled Aviva's dad with so much class! The guy is a rude PIG, and I can't believe she thought the two of you would be compatible! Shame on her!!!
Good luck with all of you business ventures...you deserve (and will achieve) success!!!
OH MY GAWD! Can Bravo PLEASE PLEASE give you your own show?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
You are so funny and I love your face expressions and laugh. It is so fun to see you on TV.
MUCH MUCH LOVE!!!!!
Oh and Sonja...George is wy too old for you.
Sonja I think you are absolutely fabulous!!! Your always so positive and never appear to really have any bad moments. Your always so much fun...you definaltey spice up the show.
I don't think George did anything different than you did to the contractor in your home over the water issue. You can sure dole it out but grew uncomfortable getting a dose of your own behavior. And I think you were jealous of Carol. You seemed to cool it after she left. And I got uncomfortable when he said he wouldn't go into the hot tub because he was aroused. That was way to weird for the viewers.
Love Sonja! I enjoy watching you have fun. Even though I don't care for Ramona I do understand your relationship and I loved and will always remember what you said about her "I love Ramona, but I can't make other people like her." That is EXACTLY how I feel about my best friend. She annoys everyone I know so it's hard to take her places because no one wants her around. But I love her, we've been freinds for 40 years and I need her, she is my rock. From now on I will use your line, it's perfect!
Week after week I continue to say the same thing and you continue to prove me right. You are one of my favorite HW's of them all. I love your attitude and the way you handle situations. You're lighthearted, fun and relaxed. You obviously have a huge amount of tolerance. You're able to see past the foolishness and maintain a genuine friendship with Ramona. It takes a special woman to be able to do that!
Sonja - You are a trip! Whose bathing suit were you wearing at the face yoga party? It was fab!
Oh, Sonja. You seem so sweet and light-hearted and carefree. You remind me so much of a 1930s socialite (or patron) in Montparnasse in Les Années folles. I feel like you've made a cameo in a Henry Miller novel or two. I personally think you were born in the wrong era, but somehow I think you'd insist you'd be comfortable anywhere, at any time. In any event, you're so much fun to watch and read. Carry on!
Sonja is absolutely the best on the show. Her natural flair for comedy, her sense of style and attitude make her a perfect candidate for her own TV show.
I know her own show would be a huge success, as she has razor sharp wit and life has put her to the test and she's at the top of the class.
Can't wait to see more of her!!!!
Sonja,
Please take a look of your behavior. It is ridiculous. You and Ramona need to leave the show.
You seem delusional about your businesses. Ramona has done a lot of damage to you.
Love you, Sonja! You handled George like a pro! You and Ramona continue to make me laugh! Enjoyed your blog this week! Always love what you have to say!
I don't know how this show did without you the first few seasons...oh that's right Bethenny. If you weren't here now, I don't think I'd be watching. You crack me up! Keep having fun because that's more fun for us to watch than the fighting. I know I'd rather laugh than fight.
I would have felt traumatized if a "friend" had set me up in this way - to sexually harassed on vacation. I am glad that you were able to take it in stride, but you didn't deserve that.
merin99 I lost all respect for aviva.
Sonja, you rock! You're the classiest one on the show. You handle everything with grace and intelligence. When are you getting your own spinoff??
@RHONY_fan Classy?!

Sonja, you are the best. I love the way you told Aviva where it's at!
