As a fellow Aussie I cringe every time Curtis says "dool", there is a "u" in "duel" Curtis....

I loved watching The Knockout. It is fun to see my favorite chefs compete against one another.

I am inspired to get cooking! These dishes are making so hungry.

The spot prawns were my favorite dish while in Barcelona and Bilbao. I also watched a local make bacalo for us for dinner using cod and olive oil. It was such a treat to be invited into her home and share a meal with her and her family.

I'm looking forward to the next episode to see who takes the win.

All these show are subjugated on the palets of the judges. Wolfgang may like more spicy food then another judge.

However part of the charm of the Top Chef series is the antics to create stress. Don't you feel that if these chefs where in fact in a real restaurant they would be under a different time constraint.

An uneducated palet....A palet like everyday people. Some foods are enhanced while enjoyed with a glass of wine other people prefer a coke. Foods changes with gimmics like Smoke, Freeze gastronomy in the molecular sense my grandmother would say phooey.

Another consideration is who is picked 1st in the tasting process, it can encumber or over whelm the taste buds so that each contestant exponentially get lesser favor or what I would call true taste.

I love All top chefs series. I re watch them I love the personalities of each and every chef including the judges. I now search out their restaurants to eat. Because I live in a city where many live.

Who wil win knockout? Who do you wish to cheer for. Bravo to all.

Between the two finalists chosen by Wolfgang, it's hard to know who he favors, although he seems more deferential to Tiffani. This Duels finale will be fierce.

Their editing was better this time. Last season worst chef; we knew who was in the final round. I don't know who won the Knockout. :)

I won't watch top chef  again. I like top chef duels much better.

I am glad Art won just to see him cook again in the final knockout…. he is so much fun to watch!!

I think I noticed Tiffany running around in the background of the final competition. I think she beats mike in the final knockout.

I love this round of knockout, Art clearly deserved to winning just for that pasta he pulled out of thin air. When the next round of the knockout happens I believe Kristen will win she has the most educated palette and technical skills. But my prediction remains steadfast, Chef Takahashi will win Top Chef Duels. He is simply amazing to watch. I love Top Chef in all its carnations I would never miss a viewing.

The last two weeks, it has sent me back to old videos and not let me see the new ones. Frustrated!!!!

Nyesha, should have known no matter how good her food was she was not winning.

While Kristen's food is clearly 'clean' and beautiful, energetically, and aesthetically....not understanding why Tiffany lost in this particular challenge. Her omelet, with the mushroom sauce, looked delicious and multi-layered in flavor.  Why would Kristen's plain omelet, with a few black beans on top, win? We're all not there to taste the dishes, so wish Wolfgang Puck would provide more info to the curious TV audience when he proclaims his decision! Mystified...

Knockout rules are: If you win one knockout comp, you are eligible for the finale.  Both Brooke and Michael have won at least one knockout, so they are in regardless.  Nyesha and Marcel both lost their first knockout, so they are both completely out of the Duel finale

DSelwyn

The whole Knockout concept is confusing as it seems to differ completely from Last Chance Kitchen. Why did Nyesha have to leave after losing to Tiffani? Mike remained after losing to Tiffani. Why did Marcel leave after losing to Brooke? Why is Brooke still there? Does it have to do with the color of chef's coat, or does that not matter?

These videos don't play correctly.  Start, have to watch stupid car commercial, video goes for a few seconds then the stupid commercial comes back on and it starts over.  Same thing happened when I tried to watch last week.

mass_mota

Isn't this competition unfair?  The people who get eliminated earlier have to win more challenges to get back into the finals.

This video will not play!  Had no problems watching in previous weeks.

Nyesha,

I was so rooting for you in both rounds. I hope that someday, I will  be able to enjoy eating your food.. You are a winner in my book. :)

Why won't this play?!  It says I'm in the wrong geographic region.  LA?!

Okay, the videos jumping back and forth make this impossible to follow.  I get an intro, then a commercial, then the same intro, then it goes back to the previous knockout.

As sophisticated as mike's dish was, at the end of the day it was a bowl of chili...not very top chef.

Best part of this episode was seeing the expression on Mike's face when he lost, when he obviously thought he had it in the bag, haha.

Hopefully that's the last we see of him, though I'm confused as to Brooke's continued presence. Why is she still there when she lost several episodes ago, I mean besides being Mike's personal cheerleader? None of the other losers keep returning, so not sure whats going on with that.

Why is Brooke hanging around? What have i missed?

Yay Tiffany-so glad you won!!! I agree don't like Brooke on the sidelines, either. I think Tiffany should have beat Dale. Keep it up Tiffany!!

I like this Knockout show so much better than the Duels ... they haven't gotten the formula right for this show yet ... especially the super annoying slow motion shots!!!  I think it would be better if the entire show was the final round vs having 3 separate rounds.  Then we can see more the thought process of what they are cooking.

I am happy that Dale beat Tiffani. He was such a tool in his season but he came back on all stars humble and apologetic. He even admitted that he went through anger management therapy. People can change.

So glade Tiffany beat Mike! Mike got too cocky. I also don't like Brooke because she would say things to Mike to help him out when he was cooking against other cooks.

So glad Tiffani whipped the arrogant stuffed shirt Mike.....as for Brooke's poor sportsmen ship and attitude seem petty and childish. I love watching Duels and so far I agree with Shirleynn202, that Takahashi will win. I've seen him in competition many time and he is a calm competitor and great chef to watch.

Love David Burke:) Mike is an arse. I will say his chef capabilities have improved. I have a David Burke awesome fry pan and wish I could find more of the cookware. Have tried QVC Amazon Ebay, google no luck:(

I have never liked Mike.  He is a cheater and I agree with *Holcrap -Mike is arrogant and ungracious*. Unfortunately, I think this time he out cooked David.  Between David's battle with Takashi & this one, I just think David was off his game.  But, I have confidence Mike will go down.  Takashi would definitely take him out.

@BravoRealHouse I totally agree.  :)  Top Chef Duels is such a higher quality show than all of the superfluous 'circus antic challenges'' that now define Top Chef.

With TC Duels, we actually get to see chef CREATE MEALS!    And NOT:  Shop at Whole Foods, jump out of airplanes, be subjected to insane and unnatural/contrived cooking conditions, etc, etc  blah, blah.

We all just REALLY want to see who is the BEST CHEF.  Period. :)

Also, the judges in TCD seem more straightforward, consistent.. !

Can't wait to see the next TC Duels.

@kflower Wolfgang said Kristen's was the more perfectly cooked omelet. Tiffany's was undercooked and falling apart when she tried to roll it up - Wolfgang also said it was short - he likes them rolled up long and thin.

@DSelwyn Any chef who beats at least one opponent gets to stay in the winners circle.  So a new chef coming in must beat who they are up against in order to stay or they are knocked out.

cafehunk

@mass_mota Knockout rules are different than Last Chance Kitchen. Win one Knockout round and you get to participate in the Knockout Finale.

This makes sense, because all the Duel rounds are equivalent, unlike in Top Chef "Proper," where if you got eliminated early, you had to win more Last Chance Kitchen rounds to beat the chefs who got eliminated later.

The Knockout Finale is a competition between all the chefs who one at least once.

repulse

@Aeon Brooke's still there because she won her first match against Marcel.  The chairs are there for everyone who will be going to the Knockout finals.  Until the this recent episode, Mike has knocked out all the challengers up until Tiffany, which means no new chefs have joined the winner circle.

@TopChefFanatic2014  Yeah, I know what you mean... I learned that you have to pay careful attention to which knockout video is loading, if you haven't yet watched the previous week(s). Spoilers are never a good thing.

I think the strategy behind having the videos set up to auto-play in descending order has something to do with the commercials. That is, this maximized the number of views for the sponsored content that plays before the current weeks knockout video. ;-)   I'd rather tolerate this  inconvenience than have no video content on the site. You know... without the income from ad sales it would not possible to pay production costs.  ;-)  Thus, no Knockout, or Last Chance Kitchen! :-(

@jmjones Thank you for this explanation. I still don't see the point in the initial competition if a lot of people are going to be sticking around and competing in the parallel Knockout, but I'll try to keep an open mind and hope it turns out to be worth it.
