Best part of this episode was seeing the expression on Mike's face when he lost, when he obviously thought he had it in the bag, haha.

Hopefully that's the last we see of him, though I'm confused as to Brooke's continued presence. Why is she still there when she lost several episodes ago, I mean besides being Mike's personal cheerleader? None of the other losers keep returning, so not sure whats going on with that.

Why is Brooke hanging around? What have i missed?

Yay Tiffany-so glad you won!!! I agree don't like Brooke on the sidelines, either. I think Tiffany should have beat Dale. Keep it up Tiffany!!

I like this Knockout show so much better than the Duels ... they haven't gotten the formula right for this show yet ... especially the super annoying slow motion shots!!!  I think it would be better if the entire show was the final round vs having 3 separate rounds.  Then we can see more the thought process of what they are cooking.

I am happy that Dale beat Tiffani. He was such a tool in his season but he came back on all stars humble and apologetic. He even admitted that he went through anger management therapy. People can change.

So glade Tiffany beat Mike! Mike got too cocky. I also don't like Brooke because she would say things to Mike to help him out when he was cooking against other cooks.

So glad Tiffani whipped the arrogant stuffed shirt Mike.....as for Brooke's poor sportsmen ship and attitude seem petty and childish. I love watching Duels and so far I agree with Shirleynn202, that Takahashi will win. I've seen him in competition many time and he is a calm competitor and great chef to watch.

Alas Mike, your reign wasn't long enough. You did a great job!

Love David Burke:) Mike is an arse. I will say his chef capabilities have improved. I have a David Burke awesome fry pan and wish I could find more of the cookware. Have tried QVC Amazon Ebay, google no luck:(

i don't like how they show the newest video first. especially if you haven't seen some of the past knockouts. i don't like being spoiled. thats why i don't read the comments. :(

I have never liked Mike.  He is a cheater and I agree with *Holcrap -Mike is arrogant and ungracious*. Unfortunately, I think this time he out cooked David.  Between David's battle with Takashi & this one, I just think David was off his game.  But, I have confidence Mike will go down.  Takashi would definitely take him out.

Wow,  never in my wildest dreams did I think Mike would take out David. Something smells fishy and it ain't the calamari.

God, I love David Burke. He is so funny and has such humility. Gonna miss seeing him, but "Congrats" to Mike! The dish that looked most appealing to me was David's but I knew instantly that Wolfgang would prefer Mike's dish. With all that being said, I'm going to go ahead and say that Takashi will take the whole thing.

How come the videos keep jumping back and forth?  I get half way through Mike & Stephan and it jumps to Mike and David.  Then it jumps back to Mike & Stephan.

Mike always praises his competitors then beats the snot out of them.

I do like this  Duel series.. for we can see older chefs, and then newer ones..

and a great way to keep us watchers of Top Chef watching for our favorites from over the years..

and from other cooking shows...

Though I do feel that favoritism is happening .. it was shown last year on the Top Chef with the voting power of Tom Colicchio - when a chef that should have been voted off numerous times due to lack of seasoning, made it to the winner's circle...

Will be interesting this season to watch, and see the dynamics... I almost gave up watching

Mike steals recipes from other chefs...I would hate to see a cheater win. As an aside, I hope this show isn't a replacement for Top Chef; anyone know? If so I'm done with the show! If Top Chef does return, I also agree that they need some new impartial judges.

Tried to watch Mike vs. Stephan, but the video was so badly constructed it was interrupted after a minute or so, an ad played, and then it went back to the beginning.  This made the video unwatchable.

LMAO!  How can anyone know if they are "playing favorites"?  Did you taste the food?  You are very silly.

mcdonald

I take Top Chef at it's word on this...afterall, none of us actually get to TASTE the food. All we do is watch the process and pull for our own favorite.

Top Chef playing favorites again.  Stefan should have won.  Second time I have seen this show play favorites this season.  Is Top Chef losing it's integrity?

This show is so biased!  Duels and Knockoff need some impartial judges.  Why do they have to know who cooked what dish.  Until the rules change, I will not watch either show.

kflower, I agree with you.  Stefan should have won the knockout.  It is too bad Top Chef did this to him.  It isn't right.

StrangerJerriBlank

Stefan should have won. He served Wolfgang exactly what he asked for: a medium rare piece of meat.  Mike's was obviously blue and blamed "a difference of opinion" on his under-cooking of his meat instead of the 5 inch thick steak he amateurishly tried to cook to medium rare in 20 minutes.  It seems the judges dislike Stefan so much they are willing to forgo any mistake the competing chefs make in order to send him home..

kflower

Unfair-  Stefan's meals looked more delicious, complex, and more finely crafted and subtle than either CJ's  or Mike's. (Certainly his tenderloin was more expertly executed than Mike's raw chunk of beef. ) He's right- seems like he has been 'set up' .  What a shame that he got such a hostile and unfriendly send off from cooking  from his fellow chefs.  :/

Marcel thinks he a lot better than he really is... This is the 4th time I've seen him get the boot on a cooking show (2 seasons of top chef, top chef duels and a Food Network cooking show).  Blais and Williamson definitely are the better chefs!

@TopChefFanatic2014  Yeah, I know what you mean... I learned that you have to pay careful attention to which knockout video is loading, if you haven't yet watched the previous week(s). Spoilers are never a good thing.

I think the strategy behind having the videos set up to auto-play in descending order has something to do with the commercials. That is, this maximized the number of views for the sponsored content that plays before the current weeks knockout video. ;-)   I'd rather tolerate this  inconvenience than have no video content on the site. You know... without the income from ad sales it would not possible to pay production costs.  ;-)  Thus, no Knockout, or Last Chance Kitchen! :-(

@SHERRYSFOSSILS Top Chef: Duels seems to have replaced Top Chef: Masters. Top Chef will return for a 12th season in Boston.

BlondeGator1
BlondeGator1

@SHERRYSFOSSILS I don't think it's a replacement, they are already showing ads for the next Season of TC.  I like the "Duel" format as an addition to the array of TC programming.  It's great to see chefs whom we've seen compete before, and "know".  Duels reminds me more of TC Masters, where the level of respect amongst the competitors is heightened.  I'm really enjoying this series in the late summer TV doldrums.

Alliecat ^.^

@ardelle Don't watch then. The rules are the rules.  The chefs don't have a problem with the "rules", and aren't forced on to the show. Enjoy life, or be cynical... you get to choose!  ;-)

@tuttibumps01 They have given Stefan many opportunities, how can you believe they "did this (or anything) to him".  LMFAO

@StrangerJerriBlank  For the record:  I am not partial to Mike or Stefan, could care less who won.

Here is what I do know, which is why I say Mike's point was actually valid.   I've worked in restaurants for 30 years, and with many chefs.... Even in culinary school, my chef instructors had different points of view in the area of meat temps  (And every one of them will tell you his is true!)

jay.hawk.773

@StrangerJerriBlank Mike sticked up for the tempeture on his steak, because he was correct. Worked at Logans Steak house on the line for 3 years and as he said it was a steakhouse medium rare. Bernaise sauce was invented in 1983 and it needed to be more modernized by Stefan. He is amazing at desserts and should have used that for one of his challanges.

@jay.hawk.773 @StrangerJerriBlank

Couldn't agree more.

Stefan has never impressed me with creativity or ingenuity.

Actually, Bearnaise sauce was invented almost 200 years ago (1830's). Nothing wrong with old school classical cuisine or sauces, but seriously, don't expect to win a modern day cooking competition unless you reinvent that old wheel!  lol
