Episode 7: Two chefs go home, while others reveal their true colors to the judges.

OK, onto the chocolate-tastic Elimination Challenge with guest judge Wylie Dufresne! Love Wylie, and happy to offer this video of the self-proclaimed egghead demonstrating how to poach the perfect egg. I've had more conversations recently about how to poach an egg than I care to mention, so here you all go:
The chefs broke up into two teams, and not only had to create plated desserts, but also chocolate showpieces. The showpiece aspect of the competition put showpiece rivals Orlando and Chris head-to-head. And you know what? Orlando came out on top! Although from afar, I think Chris' showpiece was more enticing, the judges pointed out that up close, Orlando's was more nuanced. And frankly, like the judges, I preferred the story behind Orlando's showpiece -- the history of chocolate. I never go to museums (I know, I know), but I did go to a chocolate exhibit the American Museum of Natural History put on a few years ago, which walked you through how chocolate is made, and Orlando's showpiece brought me right back there.
What Orlando surely didn't win points for was how vocal he was during the tasting. See, this week the judges allowed the chefs to taste their competitors' food and comment. Aaand Orlando did just that. Perhaps too much! It was amusing, but also good insight for the judges into the chef's personalities -- something they usually don't get to see. Fortunately for Orlando, his team won.
I think carlos is the best one out of the whole bunch that's left on the show, he is talented and I really like way he makes all his deserts. Plus he always have good attitude and I think he deserves to win because of his talent and financial concerns that he has.
Katzie DID NOT deserve to go home. Girl is young but is way talented than orlando chris mattew and sally. And I think that's what was bugging everyone most, that's why they all gang up on her and finally send her home.
judeges should really send orlando, Chris and sally home they are arrogant and absolutely do not deserve to win.
Our Bravo channel has been out for the past two days. I don't know what the problem may be with the station. Cable company assured me it would be on by end of night last night.....hasn't happened . Needless to say, I missed Just Desserts last night. I'll try to watch it on the computer.
Keep up the good work,I love the Top Chef Shows. I was taught to cook by my mom and grandmothers,my fathers parents came here from Italy in the 20's. My moms were from England ,Ireland. Moms mother grew up in Kentucky,so the southern influence is evident. Thanks
I was really wanting to like Chris just because I love watching Challenge. His attitude in this episode was off putting. Just as bad as Orlando's. They could have at least said something nice about everything along with what they didn't like. I do like Matthew and Carlos the best now.
While Orlando was especially vocal during the tasting, I don't think the judges disagreed with him. You 're forgetting that Chris was just as vocal and negative when it was his turn, but the judges seemed less inclined to agree with his opinions. I think both men came off as obnoxious know-it-alls, but Chris bugs me more.
katzie did not deserve to go home, and sad to see the females dropping like shoofly pies. For some reason she's been lumped in with other underachievers even though she's proven herself and won twice! I think the decision makers have been fearful of eliminating one of their showpiece makers to preserve the quality of future challenges, but in my opinion Chris should have left for his weird undercooked cake thing.
