What's it like to get a so-called Vampire Facial? The gruesome-sounding treatment is beloved by everyone from Kim Kardashian West to The Real Housewives of Orange County's Shannon Beador, who called out platelet-rich plasma therapy (the facial's official name) for its tightening properties.
Now Vanderpump Rules beauty Kristen Doute is giving the skin treatment a try, and she documented virtually every step of the facial on Instagram Stories with videos and photos — to the extent that we felt like we were there. "I'm about to do something crazy, a PRP Vampire facial thingy, wish me luck," she said before things kicked off at Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery Group.
The treatment traditionally involves taking blood from a patient's arm, separating out the plasma, then the patient's own plasma is injected back on the skin after microneedling. It's a combination that's said to kickstart the skin's repair process to naturally produce collagen and elastin, thus smoothing fine lines and acne scars, according to Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery Group's website.
Everything seemed like a normal facial to start out with...
Then it got more intense: "That was in my blood. Now it is going in/on my face," Kristen wrote.
Here's an action shot:
"PRP round one and done," Kristen said afterwards as she filmed her glowing skin. "I'll let you guys know how I feel mañana," she added. "Didn't hurt too bad."
"At least this is the only city in the world that I feel somewhat comfortable walking down the street looking like this," Kristen said into the camera as she walked out of the office wearing big sunglasses and a hat to cover her newly Vampire Facialed-skin. That's a totally normal occurance in Beverly Hills, right?
She didn't just leave with radiant skin — she got a souvenir too!
