Captain Jason Chambers Shares a “Rare” Look Inside His Cabin
The Below Deck Down Under boss provided a glimpse into an under-the-radar spot aboard Northern Sun.
On Season 2 of Below Deck Down Under, Bravo viewers have had a front-row seat to the crew’s adventures aboard the Northern Sun. The luxury yacht has unique features that belie its vintage origins (more on that below).
But in a recent Instagram post, Captain Jason Chambers shared a rarely seen view of the boat: the interior of his cabin.
See “rare footage” of Captain Jason Chambers’ cabin
To caption his August 21 Instagram post, the Australia native wrote: “Inside the [captain’s] cabin, rare footage.” He added: “Not much goes on in here[,] just [Aesha Scott] hiding and probably coming up with some plan to dress me up to throw me out of my comfort zone.”
The caption accompanied a video montage of two photos of the aforementioned space. The cabin’s features include wood-paneled walls and a framed print of another yacht, the Goddess of the Sea.
In the second photo, Jason and the aforementioned chief stew are sitting on a leather couch, and Aesha appears lost in thought. The photo shows off a dark wood chair in the background, and more glossy wood-paneled walls and framed art.
In the opening moments of the Season 2 premiere, Jason revealed why the 1970s yacht isn’t exactly like the boats he’s captained before.
In an interview from the same episode, Jason said, “Northern Sun is a 1977 Japanese fishing vessel that’s been converted to a luxury superyacht. It’s the perfect vessel because, this season, we’re in Cairns, right at the foothills of the most spectacular underwater scenery you’ll ever see. It’s adventure yachting, and it’s perfect for exploration.”
And as evidenced in the photo below, it’s also the perfect boat for hanging out with close friends.
Jason Chambers’ Unique Bond with Aesha Scott
In the past, Aesha has opened up about her special bond with Jason. “He’s my captain, but he’s also my friend,” the chief stew shared in a July 6 interview with The Daily Dish.
The New Zealand native added that the captain basically feels like her “fourth stew” on the boat. “He supports me so much,” she gushed. “He’s always doing my dishes and emptying my bins. And I’m going up in the morning and putting his contacts in. We’re just a really supportive unit.”
Yes, that’s right: Aesha helps Jason see straight. ICYMI, in the Season 2 premiere, the captain called the chief stew to his cabin as the crew was getting started on the day. When she arrived, Jason was clearly disheveled as he was trying to put in his contacts, asking Aesha for help.
“Oh my god, I would love to… Are you serious?” she asked.
“I’ve tried all morning!” Jason responded. After bringing him out of the bathroom and telling him to “look straight ahead,” Aesha succeeded in getting the lens in his eye.
